Modest
Hydration
252 HP, 252 SPATK
-The seed that raises spDef in terrain
-Dragon pulse

Goodra's partner is a Tapu Bulu. When Goodra is weak switch to drizzle pelipper and use Rest. Goodra is literally unkillable. 4th member doesn't even matter.

at 81 with this team yesterday but took a break. I bred up a salamence to try later but kang has been great for focus sash/stury and fake out to check bulkiness/leftovers and go from there. AI usually tries to spam close combat/focus blast on the first mon or switch in and abusing aegislash helps cover kang. Chomp usually just cleans up or comes in for the 100% accuracy if needed to avoid hax.

Kangaskhan @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Return

Smogonsword @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spe (Mine's got speed IVs but it's been fine)
- Shadow Ball
- Shadow Sneak
- Flash Cannon
- King's Shield

Garchomp @ Rockium-Z
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone miss (with rockium-z for the 100% accuracy works well for me)
- Outrage
- Dragon Claw (could use any coverage move really hardly use this)

I started using AV Buzzwole as a lead with Z-Fly Salamence and standard Koko in the back. Gains mosquito has too much balk to get knocked out in one hit and it heals itself with Leech Life. The team only struggles against 1st turn stall and fairies.
>Already counted 7 hail teams, all of them having Fridge Rotom
>Game is throwing Stall, Sturdy mons and Protect Sash Magic Guard Alakazam to counter Mosquito. Fell Stinger has great synergy against this, but might want to switch it for Poison Jab or TPunch later when megas become more common.

>>31154314
Not sure if this is helpful to any anons, but here's my team that just swept Normal Singles without any issues and is doing very well on Super Singles.

Tapu Lele @ Life Orb
Hasty
252 SpA/4 SpD/252 Spe
-Nature's Madness
-Psychic
-Taunt
-Moonblast

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Relaxed
Ability: Merciless
252 HP/ 252 Def / 4 SpD
-Poison Jab
-Scald
-Recover
-Baneful Bunker

Hydreigon @ Leftovers
Modest
4 HP/ 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Flash Cannon
-Draco Meteor
-Dark Pulse
-Flamethrower

Summary: This was an easy team to throw together and after reading online how strong Tapu Lele was under Psychic Terrain (and seeing how great in Battle Tree a Fairy/Dragon/Poison core was) I went ahead and built this thing. Tapu Lele is straight up powerful as a lead. You can use Psychic to OHKO or 2HKO many weaker mons with Life Orb boost. If the opponent sends in something bulkier that isn't weak to Psychic, I would use Nature's Madness instead and then followup with Psychic -- which was usually more than enough damage to KO. Moonblast is for things like Dark types and Dragons, which seemed to pop up a lot versus this team. Poison and other Fairies were common as well, but those were easily dealt with by using Psychic or switching out. Hydreigon works great as a back up sweeper. He can also resist most things that are going to hurt Tapu (Ghost, Dark) and can retaliate. Draco Meteor is a no-brainer to finish off the last Pokemon as well. As far as Toxapex, the only reason I went with Merciless and not Regenerator was because I didn't have the HA on any Mareanies. That said, Merciless came in handy a few times once Baneful Bunker activated. Truth be told, I usually just relied on Toxapex to soak up Steel/Poison hits and stall out other Pokemon like Lucario who seemed to appear often. Abusing Scald for Burn is fun too. I'm trying Toxic over Poison Jab in Supers with some success as well, just to speed up stall. And if a Ground-type comes in, I just go right back to Hydreigon.
>>
>>31159312
Also, Hasty is not the best nature for Tapu Lele but it's still a + Speed nature and she can survive non-super effective hits surprisingly well despite having a - Defense growth. That is, if she ever does get struck -- just play SMART with switch ins and you'll be ok. Usually I find that even with the Hasty nature, she's fast enough and has enough defenses to take a hit or two and dish out one or two KOs before going down. Ideally she'd be Timid, but I caught her before I bothered to start using Synchronize Abras and soft-resetting for the right nature.

Does anyone experiment with their leads? My team right now is Mimikyu/Mega Lucario/Tapu Lel, and whenever I lead with Mimikyu, the game never counters me. The last battle was Scrafty, Hydreigon and Mismagius, three Pokemon that Mimikyu shits all over.

But I tried leading with Lucario today and got nothing but bullshit. Hippowdon, Gyarados, Skarmory and other crap that gives my Lucario a hard time. I had like 5 really hard fights in a row, switched back to Mimikyu, and then got easy fights.
>>
Hello /btg/, Looking to train up some Battle Tree mons including Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele.

What nature am I looking for on each? I'm hoping for the ability to switch between multiple different sets when the mood strikes.

So far I'm leaning Timid on both, but Modest Lele seems a bit more versatile.

Quiet.
252 sp.atk/252 hp/6 attack

Tapu Koko@Life Orb
Naive
Max sp.atk and speed.
-Thunder
-Dazzling Gleam
-Brave Bird
-Volt Switch (enemies like to lower his stats and its useful for escaping it)

Pelliper@Damp Rock.
Drizzle
248 HP196 Def64 SpD
Bold
-Scald
-Hurricane
-U-turn
-Wide guard.

Ash-Greninja@Waterium Z
Naive (Timid is better for this set but I went with Naive for non doubles play)
Max sp.atk/speed
-Water Shurriken
-Hydro Pump
-Dark Pulse
-Extra Sensory

Salamence@Salamencite
Adamant
Intimidate
Max attack and speed.
-Dragon Claw
-Double Edge.
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake.

Koko and Pelliper clear most matches by themselves and Waterium Z Hydro Pump in the rain picks off basically everything to activate battle bond.

Timid on Koko and Lele for speed, Bold/Calm on Fini for bulk, Bulu can run Adamant for maximum power since you're not outspeeding most things with 75 base speed, Impish/Careful for defensive sets or Jolly if you want to outspeed more things on a Scarf set.

besides the aforementioned stallbreakers and anything electric or grass, which you can cover for elsewhere, pyuku is a pretty solid wall. the soak + toxic combo can take anything out with enough time, and an unaware pyuku laughs in the face of setup sweepers

that nature + ev setup is solid, and i run soak, toxic, bide/counter, and recover

bide/counter are shit, but if you're taunted, at least you can actually do something instead of struggle yourself to death

Porygon-Z @NormaliumZ
Timid - 4HP / 252Sp.Atk / 252Speed

-Ice Beam
-Shadow Ball
-Conversion

Minior @White Herb
Adamant - 4HP / 252Atk / 252Speed

-Acrobatics
-Earthquake
-Shell Smash

Metagross @Metagrossite
Jolly - 4HP / 252Atk / 252Speed

-Meteor Mash
-Zen Headbut
-Earthquake

Mimikyu @Focus Sash
Jolly - 4HP / 252Atk / 252Speed
-Shadow Claw
-Play Rough

-Swords Dance

I always lead with Porygon-Z and he can essentially always take care of most things by himself, he was definitely the MvP of the Tree. But if something I thought would use EQ came up, I switched into Minior. Also Minior HARD counters this Blissey you might see where it abuses Minimize, Softboiled, Toxic, and MudBomb. It can't do a single thing to Minior. Metagross and Mimikyu were often switched back and forth as I personally feel if you don't mix it up once in a while you get hard countered by the Tree eventually.

UBs are fine imo. They get OHKOed (except Celesteela) by anything on the wrong side of the spectrum if you're an idiot or if you don't have the experience with the movesets some tree mons have (or if they have Sashes)

I think people here who use Megamence and Tapus are more idiotic. And no, "the tree cheats" isn't a good enough reason because if your team gets exploited by hax then that just means you suck at building it.

Trying to get scouts for multi, so I started running this team:

Ribombee @ Focus Sash
Timid 252SpA/252Spe
- Moonblast
- Psychic
- Quiver Dance
- Baton Pass

Hydreigon @ Dragonium-Z
Modest 252SpA/252Spe
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Flash Cannon

Tapu Lele @ Life Orb
Timid 252SpA/252Spe
- Moonblast
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

This team is surprisingly good, ribombee can actually pull off sweeps if it encounters gimmicky shit, and the only status you worry about is para, as sweet veil prevents sleep hax, I thought this team would be suceptible to RNG like fire attacks burning ribombee's sash, or poison attacks poisoning me through it, and while it did happen (twice) I got to 49 until I lost to a misplay thinking Feraligatr didn't have aqua jet and losing lele to life orb recoil, only to have pelipper smash my dreams freezing hydreigon with a blizzard, I think this team can go on longer streaks, hydregon and lele after getting a quiver dance are very good, but I think heatran would be amazing once we get pokebank

For Singles, consider Cloyster.

Cloyster @Focus Sash
Skill Link
Naughty - 252 Att / 252 Speed / 4 SpAtt
-Shell Smash
-Icicle Spear
-Rock Blast
-Surf

Naughty is generally the better nature for extra power, but Naive allows you to beat out Scarf 110s (and is the better PvP nature). You go mixed to take advantage of physically defensive Steels that resist your Ice/Rock coverage, and because Surf (90 base/100 acc) does similar damage and is more reliable in the Tree than Razor Shell (75 base/95 acc) post Shell Smash due to Cloyster's fairly mixed base offense stats.

Cloyster is the best Shell Smasher in the game for singles Tree. Minior's niche is the status immunity of Shield's Down/form change, but Cloyster's stronger offense and Focus Sash allows it to shine as the better booster. Its low SpDef allows it to 'cheat' AI, which prioritizes getting KOs when possible, allowing Cloyster to regularly proc the Focus Sash without having to worry about more dangerous moves like Thunder Wave/Confuse Ray/Will-o-wisp/etc (exceptions apply, like TR mons whose AI prioritizes setting up TR above all).

Cloyster's average stats are carried by its high base powered Skill Linked moves, which break Subs/Sturdy/Sashes and has a higher 'chance' of critting. Icicle Spear is a 188! base powered move after STAB; Rock Blast is a 125 base powered coverage move; Surf is 135 base post STAB and hits on the Special side to get 2HKOs on bulky Steels that can't be powered through with Ice/Rock (ex. Steelix, Skarmory, Aggron, etc).

Ice/Rock/Water offers great coverage, leaving you only walled by the likes of Empoleon, though certain Steels/bulky Waters can remain an issue.

With just Cloyster and Garchomp and a suboptimal third, I was able to get to ~45 in Super Singles, and know that I can comfortably reach beyond 50+ when I swap Mimikyu for the planned Megagross.

Play tips on following post.

>>
>>31171817
>Notes on using Cloyster
-when Ice is resisted and Water/Rock is neutral, Rock Blast is a stronger move than Surf due to more base Attack and high base power.
-when Ice is neutral and Rock is 2x SE, Icicle Spear may still be enough to KO (ex. Abomasnow, Charizard, ; if so, then use IS for its 100 accuracy vs RB's 90 acc.
-be aware of potential Thick Fat mons (Mamoswine, Snorlax, Hariyama, Grumpig, Miltank) that will prevent otherwise expected OHKOs.
-If you know that the opposing mon both has a priority move and a KO move, switch and try to set up later given the rarity of hazards to break the Sash on switch-in. This may include certain surprise sets as well (one of the Tree's Primarina runs special moves + Aqua Jet).
-there are situations where Cloyster can OHKO without boosting; carefully consider whether boosting or KOing first is the better option (if the opposing mon can use status moves or has moves that have status secondary effects (eg. Discharge), it's better to KO and run the boost/ko game with the second mon).
-even with Focus Sash, be wary of mons that regularly carry moves like Thunder/Discharge on the off chance the secondary Paralysis effect procs.
-if the enemy wastes a turn on the turn you setup and/or you know the mon is not a threat, you are encouraged to use Shell Smash more than once; this includes against mons with known 'free' turns like Slaking/Protect users.

-Cloyster has issues with: Ferrothorn/Empoleon/certain Steels, bulky waters that resist/won't be OHKOed by Rock Blast, Trick Room, status

-Cloyster pairs exceptionally well with Garchomp, who is Electric immune and Rock resistant; AI is also less likely to choose Ice coverage options against Cloyster on the switch if it's an option since it's Cloyster's one major resist source.
-bulky pivots that can cover a resist for Cloyster are ideal thirds for the Cloyster + Garchomp pair (esp. if Garchomp runs Scarf); synergetic typing Volturn-ers or bulky Steels are great options.

Lycanrock-Midnight with No Guard spamming Rock Slide
Mega-Mence spamming Double Edge
Tapu Koko spamming Discharge
Garchomp spamming Earthquake

All with single burst options.

Basically your standard "throw OP smogonmons at the AI" strat with vague synergy so they can use multi-hit attacks without killing eachother, the exception being Lycanroc who's just there to scare off the Ice counters - but pulled his weight absurdly well with Flinch-spam and guaranteed Stone Edges.

Movesets and Items were pretty sub-optimal, but it still pulled through to 50s. Doubles is much less punishing than the other modes so you can afford to not cheese everything, but if it frustrates you then you have the option of just full on abusing it.

>>
>>31161557
I've noticed it too. Don't quote me on this, but I think the AI gets confused when you send in Pokemon with uncommon or "difficult" type combinations.

Lucario has a lot of weaknesses and (as expected) is a fairly common Pokemon on teams, especially in-game scrubs. I wouldn't be surprised if considering the amount of counters he has and how frequent he pops up, the AI was programmed to specifically come up with counters for that Pokemon.

It also helps that Mimikyu has a nice defensive ability and Ghost/Fairy is fairly good at countering things.

I've noticed that Tapu Lele also gets countered very infrequently either due to her power or just typing + terrain. I really think there are just some Pokemon that the AI can't figure out.

I read that Megamence also gets rarely countered because of just how much coverage it can get and how difficult it still is to hit a Dragon/Flying type effectively.
>>
>>31161637
Both would enjoy +Speed natures.

Koko needs the Speed and gets pretty strong with Timid @ Life Orb.

Lele can go either way (Modest or Timid), since Speed isn't as important for her and she can take at least one or two hits before going down. I run mine with Hasty only because I screwed up Natures, but it's still +Speed and she still takes a hit before going down.

My Koko is Bold, btw. It works weirdly because he doesn't hit as hard as he should, but takes some hits he shouldn't. I don't like it as much as I wanted, but it comes in handy once in a blue moon. Basically a waste of Koko if you ask me.
>>
>>31161965
>>31161778
What this anon said.

Megamence is very popular.

So are Tapu Lele, Mimikyu, and Koko.

Then in the last place I hear a lot of Toxapex or Aegislash.

Basically Dragon/Fairy/Poison core or Dragon/Steel/Fairy core, with Ghost coming in pretty close in usefulness.

You want as much coverage as possible. I would imagine any trio of types that resists each others weaknesses would work well desu. And then using Pokemon of those types that learn a lot of different attacks. I'm kind of curious to see a Flying/Rock/Fighting trio, or anything else like that. Maybe Landorus/Megadactyl/Buzzwole?
>>
>>31161557

So I just cleared Super Singles with my meme team.

Lead: Minior, Adamant, Power Herb
S D
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP
Shell Smash
Acrobatics
HP Grass (literally just for coverage against water) or Stealth Cocks for Salamence Dragon Tail cheese
Earthquake
Strategy: Shell Smash then memes.
Lots of electric and water leads, beware, though HP Grass and EQ help meme on those counters a lot.

Golisopod, Adamant, Leftovers
E E
252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 SpDef
First Impressions
Aqua Jet
Sucker Punch
Liquidation/Swords Dance
Strategy: Obvious spam priority set. worth it to switch into a water type lead that usually goes after Minior. Liquidation and SD are interchangable, I used em both for 25 games and each did their work.

Salamence, Adamant (Could run Jolly but I wouldn't personally), Salamence
Intimidate
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 HP
Return
Roost
Dragon Claw/Dragon Tail for Minior Rocks
Flamethrower (Didn't have Fire Fang access)
Strategy: Go for the kill and survive in natural bulk. Flamethrower for ice/ferrothorn and other stalls.

Alternative meme setup with rocks: I decided to try this for the first 25 battles and it certainly works. Shell smash, rocks, then do what you can with Minior. Use MegaMence and spam Dragon Tail. Golisopod got very little action wth this strategy, it might work better with something like Lele or Koko.
>>
>>31179072
He doesn't have the recovery to make it consistent, if he had a recovery move it would be possible, but he's better off acting as a defensive swith in to fairies and starting to wreck some face from there, you can do it, but you never know what pokes the other guy has in store, so if Muk gets weathered down, he's most likely to fall to some special attacks
>>
>>31179095
Why liquiodation and not leech life?
>>
>>31179178
Because I made a dumb set and didn't realise it got leech life. He was basically just clean up crew anyway, so I never had much reason for him to regain HP. One battle against a Latias it might've been helpful, but mence is braindead so no worries.
>>
What moves for a choice band araquanid? Liquidation, leech life, I'm thinking maybe sleep talk and either crunch or poison jab?
>>
>>31179394
not sure why sleep talk would be good on a banded mon, but crunch and poison jab on him are legit
>>
>>31179394
with choice you will always spam your stabs, the coverage is nice, but most of the time your water attacks will hit harder, sleep talk is a bit gimmicky but i guess it can work if once in a bluemoon sleep hax shows itself, you better prepare for twave and electric spam tho
>>
>>31179394
araquanid's better as a special wall with mirror coat to counter electric types. outside of ridiculous water stab with liquidation and an alright leech life, its attack stats are on the low end.

I was wondertraded a jolly 5iv, 0 spA lucario and apparently he can no longer learn iron tail so right now I've just got close combat, bullet punch, swords dance, and protect.

Is this good enough for the tree or should I breed a new one that's a special attacker?

THAT SHIT IS FUCKING ILLEGAL PRE-BANK REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I used him in doubles with that same set with glass jelly as his partner, got to 50, adaptability close combat is everything you need

They simply don't care
>>
>>31180669
Shit I've been using my old expert belt set. what moves do you use?
>>31180679
Not to seem like one of those people that don't use certain mons because of random reasons but I really hate using salamence.

>obviously this is for doubles
>>
>>31180715
Basically you are fighting a bunch of fags who hacked their mons in when you challenge the tree
>>
>>31180743
Yeah that's what I was thinking, I'm probably gonna use metagross for singles but since protect is necessary anyways for doubles physical should be fine.

I tried expert belt, but getting the KO reliably was more important, but I think it works okay anyway, life orb's power is more welcome, and you will get cucked out of supereffective hits depending on what mons the tree likes throwing your way

Has anyone used Kommo-o with success? What's the best ability for it?
>>
>>31180853
okay so what about maybe lele, milotic, alolawak and hydra?

I'm kind of set on using things that aren't aegislash, mega mence, etc
>yes I know lele will likely be getting the boot but I like her

Only the A.I. would ever run a Pokemon with only 5 PP moves + Hypnosis.
>>
>>31181011
that's the tree, though

you're not fighting a trainer with only 3 mons, you're fighting an organization designed to try and fuck you over

What moves?, try to make moves synergize in doubles

>yes I know lele will likely be getting the boot but I like her

One of the teams I cleared doubles with was Nihilego, Lucario, Lele and Celesteela, sometimes stuff just works out

Also just got kicked from super singles by having a very bad timing for misplays, enjoy these vids

>E5JW WWWW WWW4 WBT5

Maximum clench, lele is just very stupid, and the game donked me just right

>2NDG WWWW WWW4 WBTS

The moment I saw silveon I knew I was dead, should have broken komalas sash on turn 1 and let ribombee die, what an idiot I am
>>
>>31181167
I'll look at them when I get home lol

idk there just is something nice about using mons that aren't busted and hydreigon embodies UU really well.
