Are we talking online experience or legitimate people you talked irl? They might just be the kind of person who were probably hoping Litten would stay on all fours, that's why I put "not all of them" regarding cat/tiger fans, because there is a majority (or minority, dunno) that maybe just wanted a big fluffier (?) tiger, possibly sabertooth tiger like or something more panther like?

In regards to people feeling perhaps disappointed with the final evolutions, I mostly see people who wanted something silly and more friendly looking (there were some expecting something clown-like), perhaps, regarding Popplio's final evolution (can't help but relate since elegant looking mons aren't usually my thing, but damage's done and I've moved on and picked Decidueye, just found it cute and Rowlet was my first original pick).

While on Incineroar's case, it was more fright over Litten ever standing up and becoming anything Fire/Fighting related. Sure, he's Fire/Dark, but some still feel rather disappointed, not really about Incineroar's typing, but his overall design (again, emphasis on people hoping he'd stay on all fours, hoping he wouldn't be centered on something fighting related perhaps).

As someone who experienced quite a bit, I do happen to see this strange habit regarding Popplio and Primarina fans. It's actually quite rare, at least to me, to find someone who likes both Popplio and Primarina. It's either "likes Popplio but hates Primarina" or "likes Primarina but hates Popplio".
