You're a notoriously fucking powerful ass Gym leader, and you're the only reason trainers cannot get more than seven badges in that region.

The Pokemon League association cannot officially replace you, so they hire black operatives to silently eliminate you.

You are chased to the edge of a cliff, one of their Pokemon shoots a hyper beam or some shit and you fall. As you fall, you can only grab one of your current Pokeballs (this is essentially the starter selection)

You and the chosen Pokemon manage to survive the fall. You don't know the identity of these killers, but you did manage to make out a few features and details of their Pokemon. You use that as the hints to search for the bastards on your quest for revenge.

I'm limited to 2000 characters in this post, but obviously I would flesh it out much more if I were writing this for an actual game. I wouldn't try to make them seem equally evil, but I would make the eco-fascists obnoxious enough that the player hates both factions.

Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the girl’s phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day’s confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn’t exist in this universe at all. She is the girl’s alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC’s own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

Spores blooming along the boughs or in rings around clearings, which usually were eaten before reaching an inch in diameter seemed to be relentless in their growth. A hiker chanced upon a typical ring of mushrooms, and, disturbed but excited by his find, plucked the mushroom away from its earthy perch. As he placed it in the bag an opening on the cap spread part and closed suddenly around his ring finger. The mushroom dropped to ground and tottered back to its place in the ring.
