Battle Tree Thread:

So what has everyone been using to get their BP? Doubt there's many people bored of the Tree so far.

>Currently using Gyarados, Gengar, and Pheromosa

Put your Pokemon with movesets.
>>
I'm at the fucking part where I need to use ingame mons to get the EV Training items
So Golisopod, Kommo-o, and Incineroar
>>
Eh everyone knows the movesets.

super singles 50s with Megamence, Koko, and Primarina

Super doubles 117 forgot to megaevolve with the same team above plus Lycanroc Night.
>>
Still trying to figure out a solid third, but A-Ninetails and Buzzwole are doing some solid work. Currently also running Xurkitree, but no doubt need something in its place.
>>
Choice Band Scyther, classic set with Brick Break instead of superpower

Life Orb Gengar, timid
-Shadow Ball
-Substitute
-Sludge Bomb
-Focus Blast
Probably gonna switch sub with Destiny Bond

Dragonite, lum berry, Multiscale
Adamant
-DD
-Outrage
-EarthQuake
-Steel Wing

Undefeated in all my 51 long runs

Curreynly doing super doubles. With the farmhand and her shell smash water/rock type whos name i cant remember.
Im wondering if i should just keep using koko as a lead with life orb.
And have a focus sash kartana or focus sash pheromosa as back up.
All have standard sets.
>>
>90% of the time lose to first opponent
>high score is 4
>team is full of disorganized types and blindly picked moves

How the fuck do I reach 20
Somebody help
>>
>>31100147
Are you using Good EV trained pokes or just picking random shit from alola thats over level 50
>>
>>31100255
I've just now started to do that

Before I was just picking mememons
The tree is still bullshit whenever I run into ice
>>
>>31100317
Pick a fire type then. Use A Marowak with Shadow Bone, Bonemerang, Flare Blitz/Fireblast/ Thunder/

ev train the mons or you wont get past 15
>>
>>31100081
Anyone actually have any suggestions for this? I'm a bit stuck as to what to slot in. Fire types are, as you'd expect, an issue, and not really sure what might be good to fill that role.
>>
>>31100858
alola marowak would have good typing synergy with those two. Marowak overall is very good because of it's typing (7 resistances, 2 immunities). And thanks to thick club you can make it bulky and it still hits hard as fuck and has a good movepool.definitely look into a-marowak
>>
>>31101429
Will do. Also considering Midday rock dog, but STAB Fire is something I certainly could use as well. Thanks.
>>
Literally just use z-hypnosis Xurkitree

If it's a ground type, put it to sleep and then switch out to stallasteela
>>
>>31101554
Stop with this meme.
>>
>>31100034

>>
>>31100081
Mimikyu, Togapex, Aquanid can be a fun play
>>
>>31102196
What are people running on Aquanid? I've seen it a bit, but not terribly much myself. Liquidation, Leech Life, and what else? Just type coverage?

I haven't used Araquanid much, but I can't imagine Leech Life is better than Lunge. Leech Life off of 70 base Attack isn't going to do shit.

>Be on Super Doubles with a meme team of Oranguru, Gyarados, Tapu Koko and Scarfchomp
>Get to Battle 17 against an old lady

>Armaldo uses Rock Slide and flinches BOTH Gyarados and Oranguru, DOUBLE FLINCH

I have more BP than I need.

Super Singles: 200 wins
Drampa, M-Scizor, Lele

Super Doubles: 50 wins
Bulu, M-Meta, Toxapex, Snorlax

Super Multi: 50 wins
Koko, M-Scizor
paired with partner Entei, Terrakion
>>
>>31102471
In hindsight, I should probably give Oranguru a Lum Berry to hold
That team was working wonders before that fight, I think I would've had a pretty fair chance of breaking 50 battles
But yeah, fuck everything. I'm not mad, not a lot, I'm just disappointed that the Tree has to actually cheat to be able to beat you.
>>
>>31102635
Sets for your Doubles Team? Also, general strategy?
>>
>>31102654
you probably should be using inner focus oranguru
>>
>>31102689
Yeah, but telepathy is too good to pass out on, free earthquakes and discharge
>>
>>31102750
telepathy is a meme and doesn't help you against RNG. plus spread moves are weaker in doubles and you generally need to prioritize targets anyway, and you have instruct. inner focus is better.
>>
>want to get an unaware pyukumuku for the tree
>have to chain mons who do harm you with every one you KO
>even if you use false swipe to minimize the damage you take, they can counter and still fuck you

My plan is to swords dance until false swipe will leave them with 1hp, unless they're unaware. But counter is a bitch.
>>
>>31102798
I know that moves that hit both opponents are weakened by 25%. Are moves that hit both opponents and your ally, like earthquake, also weakened?
>>
>>31099977
The wire, Manlet dragon and japanese paper.
>>
>>31102798
discharge has a 30% chance of paralysis.
>>
>>31102844
yes

>>31102857
>relying on RNG in battle tree

wew
>>
>>31099977
I beat Super Singles and got to 65 with
Mimikyu @Lum Berry, Jolly
Garchomp @Choice Scarf, Adamant
Toxapex @Black Sludge, some defensive nature
>>
>>31102688
Bulu was Ada Scarf
Wood Hammer, Zen Headbutt, Superpower, Rock Slide

M-Meta was Jolly
Meteor Mash, Zen Headbutt, Hammer Arm, Bullet Punch

Toxapex was Bold Black Sludge
Scald, Toxic, Recover, Haze

Snorlax was Careful Figy Berry
Double-Edge, Crunch, Curse, Recycle

I play hit hard wall hard for Doubles. Snorlax is a good last mon standing if the others start going down. Toxapex stops opposing setup mons and can click Haze the same turn Meta goes for Hammer Arm to nullify drop. Bulu's Grassy Terrain removes EQ weaknesses of Meta and Toxapex. If opponent leads threatening Fire types, I either try to go for a kill or switch both out into Toxa and Snorlax to wall. I'll post a replay of how to deal with Fire if you want.

Okay /vp/, here's what I have available:
- Jolly SD Mimikyu
- Jolly Metagross (No Mega Stone yet)
- Jolly Decidueye

I'm working on:
- Adamant Salamence (No Mega Stone)
- Bold HA Toxapex (Is Haze worth it? Have one with 6 IVs already but no Haze)
- Adamant Scizor
- Timid A-Ninetails

What's the ideal team here? Any non-legendaries I should focus on to fill gaps? Trying to rack up some BP to get good items.
>>
>>31102888
No i'm saying you don't want oranguru to get paralyzed without telepathy.
>>
>>31102934
Yes please
I'm open for every possible strategy
>>
>>31102951
i'm saying you shouldn't be using telepathy discharge anyway, it's an unreliable gimmick
>>
>>31102940
Haze is a fucking godsend
Saved my asshole from losing to a +2 Quiver Dance Volcarona on super singles
>>
>>31103005
Yeah, but Telepathy Instruct allows for the use of double discharge which essentially negates the weakened part of the move.
It may be a gimmick, but fuck it works charms
>>
>>31103037
it doesn't negate the part where you get flinched to death, and could use instruct thunderbolt to much the same effect.
>>
>>31103067
Okay, fair enough
>>
>>31103006
Shit, yeah I figured. The extra IV isn't worth it. Actually just got fucked over by an Araquanid anyway and this would be the perfect counter.

>>31099977
I'm at the part where I need to buy a Destiny Knot to start building a team. Problem is, I need 48 bp to buy it, which I can't get reliably until I have a decent team with decent IV/EV, which is why I need the knot in the first place. Oh and also ev training tools...
>>
>>31103456
Steel types will likely be a pain...especially magnezone and ferrothorns

Give koko grass knot
>>
>>31103507
Hey...throw something onto the GTS asking for a ditto level 91-100. The more descriptive you are the better
>>
>>31103536
shit, will do

is there any adjustments I should make to be able to handle them better? its kind of hard with only 3 guys
>>
>>31103690
You could try Gastrodon, but that'd change your team completely. Earth Power fuck with both electric and steel. Struggles with grass, tho.
>>
Is SD Mimikyu, M-Metagross, A-Ninetales all with cookie cutter stuff good enough to roll through?
>>
>>31103749
who should I drop for that?

tapu kek or Greninja?

or should I put rain dance on him and make him my lead? sorry I'm new to this stuff
>>
Gonna run a trick Room team for Doubles. Oranguru. Thinking of either running Drampa or Torkal. Drought Eruption, or Hyper Voice spam?
>>
For a doubles team of Koko and Pelliper leads, who should be in the back up? Ash-Ninja?

I grabbed 6 meowths with pickup, and battled wild pokemon for about 2 hours till one of them picked up a destiny knot
>>
>>31105541
I trained 5 Meowths until level 50 at Poni Gauntlet before getting a destiny knot. Took about two hours at maximum.

The higher level your meowths, the better your chances of getting good items. Got a few rare candies too.
>>
>>31105608
Mine were around lv 40's

Picked up alot of revives, rare candies, nuggets and pearl strings etc. It was kinda fun
>>
Which would serve me better on a ninetales-A in the tree: freeze dry or blizzard?
Hitting water types SE is nice, but Ninetales doesn't have very high SpAtk. I feel like there are plenty of things freeze dry just won't hit hard enough.
>>
>>31103507
I used the Pelago go get some UBs and Tabus ready, and getting enough BP after that was a cinch.
>>
Managed to unlock super singles with Decidueye, Xurkitree & Araquanid, haven't even properly ev trained them yet but now I got enough bp for the power items.

Also scouted Guzma but I'm gonna chalk it up to luck because he missed 2 focus blasts in a row

salamence

mimikyu

My most successful team sofar.

Jolly Garchomp - Focus Sash
252A/252S
Outrage
Earthquake
Rock Tomb
Swords Dance

Bold Tapu Fini - Leftovers
252HP, 200Def, 56 Spd
Surf
Moon Blast
Taunt
Calm Mind

Jolly Lucario - Lucarionite
252A/252S
Close Combat
Bullet Punch
Crunch
Swords Dance

i just used this team and went from 1-50 with absolutely no problem. Sash Chomp lead basically solos a ton of the opponents.

>>
>>31114506
It's a matter of luck, I was lucky enough to scout Cynthia with Mega Lucario (and a fucking stupid Togekiss who just spams thunder wave on paralized mons like an idiot).

I once saw this lucky fucker getting to fight Anabel in round 10, while I've never ever seen her. And yes, I finished the UB quest.

>>
>>31114725
Yeah, you either use Fini or have a Lum Berry user to start with, or else you'll lose to status spam
>>
How do things like Pixilate work in conjunction with Z-moves? Will it turn a breakneck blitz into boosted fairy type damage?
>>
>>31114902

Noticed that at around 70~ most teams carry status mons. My last run ended with a Recover/Confuse Ray/Defiant Milotic

I found leading with Fini is more reliable than spamming offense.

Pyukumuku / rocky helmet or sitrus berry

>soak/memento
>toxic/double team
>counter/baton pass
>recover

MemeeQ / perism berry or farium Z

>sword dance
>shadow sneak
>play rough
>shadow claw/leech life

Aolan Dugtrio / focus sash

>rock slide
>Iron head
>fissure
>EQ

You'd be surprised how rewarding the risk of fissure is on dugtrio. Pyuyku has the potential to put toxic on steel and poison types as well as 1HKO a melee sweeper with counter, rocky hekmet and or innards out. If it's down to MimiQ who is near death along with pyuku and the opponent has one half health destroyer you can anitcipate switch and have innards out kill the opponent.

It's nothing fancy but it's working well against a lot of BT teams. Another team I just started running that I like is Skarmory, Tapu lele and Torterra

Apologies for all the typos I'm drunk and just finished a long shift hope this helps someone

How viable is this set? It was great for the past battle facilities.

Gengar@Focus Sash
252/252 SpA/Speed
-Sludge Bomb
-Shadow Ball
-Dazzling Gleam
-Destiny Bond

Lead and if you can 2hko whilst being brought down to sash. Then destiny bond to get rid of the 2nd mon as you go.

Obvs weather and priority are issues but you could work around that in the maison.

greatest problems were trickroom teams, I would have lost to one if his reuniclus didn't use explosion after setting up TR, but after some time I just started double targeting any potential TR setter, even if it meant losing mence or koko

>>
>>31113124

Does that include catching Necrozma because I'm holding off if that until move tutors return since I already have one.
>>
>>31115867

Rock Slide and Stone Edge is what you will be using most of the time so as long as you have those you're good to go. Running both is completely reasonable, too, Stone Edge will save your life and it can't miss so why not?

Brick Break is also pretty meaningless as far as coverage goes but it will break Screens, though I suppose you can run it instead of Fire Fang for dealing with Steel types.

Fire Fang and Thunder Fang are better choices in my opinion, they can't miss and being able to both flinch and status in one move they provide some really nice utility. They're egg moves, though.

I don't see the need for Crunch at all, unless Psychic/Ghost types counter the rest of your team in which case it's fine.
>>
>>31117338

She appeared for me and I havent caught Necrozma. The Beast side-quest is over once you catch Guzzlord, Necrozma is just a goody on top.

Honestly though i'm glad I don't face her that often, if your team doesn't have a way to deal with M-Alakazam it can fuck your run right there.

It's good if it has lighting rod
>>
>>31119005

I tried one out and it wasn't that good.

Most of its damage is Physical, so whilst Lighting Rod boosts its Special Attack you can't really use it since it's so low - even if you invest in Sp.Atk with a favored nature it's not doing great (i.e. with Max EVs Jolly it's still doing less than an uninvested Adamant Salamence). It's not really that tanky or fast either.

At least, this is my experience trying to pair it with Koko and spam Discharge. In terms of just keeping single-target electric damage of fan ally (i.e. Pelipper) then it might be a bit more useful, but then you can't use Fire attacks.

I think it's great in the meta because people tailor it as a counter to the most common threats - but it's pretty mediocre in the battle tree itself. If you want something to absorb Discharge just use Garchomp or another good ground type, and if you want to redirect electric attacks then something like a Rhyperior with its Earthquake and Rock Slide STAB seems far more reliable.
>>
>>31119342
did you account for the thick club attack boost?
>>
Is Timid the best nature for Polygon Z?
>>
>>31099977
can i do well in the battle tree with this?

Jolteon (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
Level: 50
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball

Pelipper (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Drizzle
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Hurricane
- Roost
- Blizzard

Lucario-Mega @ Lucarionite
Ability: Adaptability
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance
- Crunch
The idea is getting a volt switch off; pelipper cancels out al weaknessses from jolteon and lucario (fighting fire ground) while jolteon covers pelippers electric weakness perfectly and lucario resits rock 4 times.

It'll still take me ages till I raised them all but I already fear I might be lacking offensive coverage/power and coulld get worn down easily. I know three elctric attacks on jolteon is insane but I really want to run thunder to make use of pellipers drizle and I need the tbolt in case I want to stay in on the first match up and can't rely on thunder before rain is up and jolteon doesnt have a lot of usable coverage anyways.
>>
>>31119610
Depends on what you want to outspeed. In competitive it is, but it might not be necessary in the Battle Tree because of all the shitty sets or faster Pokemon running Scarves.

I'm planning on doing doubles with sandslash, a-ninetails, gyarados and marowak. (I'm purposely not using pseudos/sub-legendaries)

My plan is to be able to set up safely with Aurora veil+intimidate and mega evolve gyarados as needed to abuse his type change.

I'm worried about facing a rock team with tyranitar, he out-slows Ninetails for weather and has rock and ground moves to fuck my whole team super effectively except for mega evolved gyarados. Any ground type would work for me but marowak just makes everything so easy especially vs trick room teams and fire/electric teams that I'd have trouble with otherwise. Krookodile and Flygon were also considered but they're not as good of blanket checks against everything like marowak is.
>>

>>
how about kommo-o? it resists electric, fire and rock
>>
I've had the most luck with this set:

Lucario @ Lucarionite (Inner Focus -> Adaptability)
Lonely - 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Close Combat
Swords Dance
Extremespeed
Flash Cannon

(Switched the obligatory 4 Def/SpD into SpA for flash cannon, which is there to provide coverage if you get burned. Also good for opening up physically bulky fairies.)

Alola Ninetails @ Light Clay (Snow Warning)
Timid - 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Freeze-Dry
Moonblast
Aurora Veil
Nasty Plot

(Fairly standard A-Ninetails set. Can either setup the aurora veil and switch out or start setting up for a sweep with nasty plot. Freeze-Dry is far more useful than hailBlizzard for the water type coverage.)

Mamoswine @ Life Orb (Thick Fat)
Jolly - 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Earthquake
Superpower
Ice Shard
Rock Slide

(Mostly there for cleanup if needed and a switch-in on electric types. Rock slide chosen over stone edge as the 10 extra accuracy is usually preferable for sets that run double team bullshit.)

>>31099977
Kartana, M-Salamence, Xurkitree

Salamence complements Kartana and Xurkitree really well since it resists their weaknesses. Xurkitree seems a bit of a weak factor, though. It's scarfed because Z-Hypnosis is unreliable in the tree, so it often gets walled by a switch-in.

You're wrong.
>>
>>31122530
Well, he can't really come in on anything, right? I'm guessing that's part of your problem.

He needs to tank one hit, shell smash, and then he can usually sweep at least 2/3-3/3 on the team.

If you see anything that can fuck him up even with shields up, you have your other two pokemon to switch in BEFORE you blow the herb.

How the fuck do you deal with these bulky rest fuckers.

Every fucking time I get on a good streak I run into them and they just fucking stall my team

>Cant slowly chip away damage because rest

It gets fucking unbearable when they start using legendaries like Suicine too do it

Beat super 50 with this set

Minior @ White Herb
Ability: Shields Down
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
IVs: 31/31/31/31/31/31 (Hyper Trained)
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Acrobatics
- Power Gem
- Earthquake

Even with negative nature and no investment +2 Power Gem gets most of the same SE KOs as Stone Edge. The speed is just enough to outspeed the fastest things in the tree at +2 core form, and most non-scarfers at +2 shield.
>>
>>31102940
Haze is 100% necessary.
You will get dragon/swords/quiver danced to shit if you don't run it.
>>
>>31109735
Almost the same as mine. I got to 55 with this one.

Mimikyu @ Life Orb
Adamant 252Atk/252Spe/4HP
-Swords Dance
-Shadow Sneak
-Play Rough
-Shadow Claw

Mega Salamence @ Salamencite duh
Jolly 252Atk/252Spe/4HP
-Dragon Dance
-Thrash
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake

Celesteela @ Assault Vest
Relaxed (it was the best I had) 252HP/252SpA/4SpD
-Flash Cannon
-Air Slash
-Flamethrower
-Giga Drain

Celesteela survives basically everything.

The team I lost to was a Moldbreaker Choice Scarf Head Smash Rampardos, a Conkeldurr with Drain Punch, and some kind of Slaking with Giga Impact.

I realized afterward there was really only one way I could've won against that specific team: I should've sacrificed Celesteela totally to Rampardos until its HP was sufficiently lowered by Head Smash that Mimikyu could've KOd it with Shadow Sneak.

If I could've managed that, I would've been able to take Conkeldurr down with Mimikyu, die to Slaking, and then come in with Salamence and 2HKO with Thrash while it loafed. Oh well.

What are you all doing for Battle Royale?

I'm thinking something like Specs Koko spamming Discharges and a Xurkitree spamming Discharges again because I can't think of another way to cheese this shitshow
>>
>>31122762
My Minior is also adamant, so I wasn't sure if running with Power Gem would be a good idea. Stone Edge is such a shitty move that I might take you up on your setup.
>>
So I finally managed to reach Round 50 and beat Blue in the doubles with this team:

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Bold, 252 Def 252 HP 4 SpDef
Moon Blast, Scald, Calm Mind, Protect

Kartana @ Focus Sash
Jolly, 252 Speed 252 Att 4 HP
Smart Strike, Leaf Blade, Sacred Sword, Psycho Cut

A-Marowak @ Thick Club
Adamant, 252 HP 252 Att 4 Def
Shadow Bone, Flare Blitz, Bonemerang, Protect

Salamence @ Megastone
Modest, 252 Speed, 252 SpAtt, 4HP
Dragon Pulse, Flamethrower, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam (and yes, I'm actually using Hyper Beam and it's fucking hillarious in Battle)

Any opinions on the team?
>>
>>31122828
Mimikyu can solo that including master rank. Just don't kill first and boost yourself to one-shot everything.

>>
>>31122945

Aerilate is for Double Edge.
>>
>>31122929
Imperfect accuracy, less power than SE, lacks mixed wallbreaking. For example Power Gem is a 2HKO on Skarmory while Rock Slide isn't.

Yeah but you could say that same thing about special walls as well, with power gem.
Power gem has 5 more power, but will likely do less with a negative nature and uninvested.

>>
>>31122952
Sure, but this is a special Salamence, not a physical. I don't want to imply that this set is in any way better than the physical Set, but it fits pretty good into the team this way. I needed a strong special attacker and also wanted Intimidate in my team...which made a special Salamence a good choice.
>>
>>31123002
It's going to do way more damage than a missed Rock Slide.

What special walls do you need Stone Edge for? You have boosted Acrobatics, which does more damage, and EQ.
>>
>>31122918
>Buttass

Rockstar is a pretty good nickname though
>>
>>31123061
I'm not going to carry power gem for skarmory.
On everything else, rock slide will hit for more.
>>
Has anyone tried that Spotlight move yet and knows how it works ?
I'm thinking that breeding a Shiinotic for doubles could be useful in order to keep my over mon at max HP and do damage to the other team.
>>
>>31123186
You don't carry Power Gem for Skarmory, you carry it for Rock STAB against Rock weak enemies, because Acrobatics and EQ will hit most things harder than Rock Slide anyway. Again, uninvested Power Gem still gets the same SE KOs as Rock Slide, but with 100% accuracy, and some mixed attack potential as a bonus.

A little bit off topic, but whenever I fight a boss trainer like Colress, I'm getting the battle theme I picked in the beginning. How do you activate their own unique theme when fighting them?

I've been trying to scout a Kiawe team with Mega Mom and a Z move user, so I'm using Kartana and M-Scizor. Works like a charm.

>>
>>31123327
I was using Parasect, Steel Memory Silvally, Bewear and Dhelmise. Would've won if the Salazzle didn't have Fake Out.
The game really tries to mess up your combos, I brought a rain core to the normal doubles and I saw 5 Glalies in 20 battles, all of them set Hail up on turn 1.
>>
>>31123562
It absolutely makes teams based on what you have. I led with Celesteela forever and never saw a Dragon lead once. I switched to Salamence and saw two Kingdra leads within 10 battles as well as a two Ice teams (one with a Mamoswine lead). Then I switched to Mimikyu and got Pyroar (literally the one Pokemon to resist its dual STAB), Salazzle, and some Steel Pokemon in one team.
>>
