Speaking of Water/Ground types, Quagsire was recently banned from PU and is now in BL4. I know lots of people don't care about Smogon rules, but I just find it hilarious that Quagsire went from NU to OU to UU to RU to NU to PU to BL4 within 1 and a half generations.

The form is based on whether or not you are east or west of Mt. Coronet. The region of Alola is East of Sinnoh, hence it is east of Mt. Coronet, therefore we only get East Slug there.

Because Sinnoh's like, the epicenter of gastrodon's habitat range. That's why you get West Sea and East Sea variants. But one assumes that as you travel either further west or east from sinnoh, you'll encounter only one or the other variant. Alola's probably east of Sinnoh, hence you only get east sea gastrodon. Likewise, I'm fairly certain you could only find west sea gastrodon in Kalos, which would line up with france being west of japan.
