I imagine it's Blastoise for Super Doubles and Venusaur for Super Multi?
>>
Sorry if its kinda unrelated, but why do some people want 0 IV for a certain stat on a pokemon?
>>
>>31092798
If it's speed then that means it's a trick room mon or a gyro ball user.
If it's attack then it's to minimize damage from foul play and confusion.
>>
>>31092798
For special attackers, you want 0 IV in attack because in the off chance it gets confused and hits itself, it won't hurt as much.
For Pokemon using Gyro Ball or Trick Room, having 0 IV speed is obvious. If you want to run Rest, you want to have lower speed than the enemy so that you can tank a hit before sleeping.
>>
>>31092798
0 Attack IVs for those that don't use Attack, so confusion/Foul Play don't hurt as much. 0 Speed IVs for Gyro Ball chicanery. Not much reason other than that.
>>
>>31092798
0 in speed for Trick Room usage (in some cases to make your weather prevail over the enemies one)
0 in attack to get minimum damage from Foul Play
>>
>>31092856
>>31092836
>>31092825
>>31092840
So a Trick Room Pokemon that fights with Special Attack will try to aim for just four good stats then, which would be just HP, Def, SpA, and SpD?
>>
>>31093056
Ideally. Since you can't guarantee 6 IVs passing down it's a little much to hope for though.

So I just got 60 wins and decided to lead with a Porygon Z Electric from 61 onwards. Noticed something after battle 61 which had Weavile, Glalie and Avalugg. The next battles were:

>Mudsdale, Rhyperior, Rotom Grass
>Mamoswine, Nidoqueen, Trevenant
>Sandslash (Ground), Venusaur, Mudsdale
>Exeggutor, Garchomp, Meganium
>Haxorus, Chesnaught, Garchomp

It's as if the tree started throwing teams that resist/are immune to Electric after my first Z-conversion. Is it a coincidence or is this a thing?
>>
How do you hear the custom Trainer music like Colress' theme or Grimsley's theme?
>>
>>31093744
I know that if you lead with Espeon, almost all the enemy teams will lead with something that knows Shadow Ball or is a dark type.
>>
>>31093973
I believe you need to have the default Trainer theme set, otherwise whatever you had set will override their themes.
>>
>>31092759
No it's Venusaur for doubles and Charizard and Venusaur for Multis.
>>
>>31094153
I don't think that's it because I ran into Grimsley and Wally and it didn't play any of their themes and just played the regular Trainer theme.

- Ice Beam

>>
>tfw trying to use Aegislash

I never played X&Y competitively, so how do you use this thing?

Kinda confused, since it seems it was the King of Ubers in X&Y.
>>
>>31094210
this is what pisses me off. NPC trainers in battle facilities with unobtainable moves and abilities.
>>
>>31094228
Porygon-Z probably won't make good use of Recover while more coverage would be great (Shadow Ball or w/e)
>>
>>31094246
Use Shadow Ball/Flash Cannon to nuke most mons off of your base 150 SpA
Use King's Shield to revert back to your shield form
Repeat
Make sure you went with a -Spe nature to go slow as possible
>>
>>31094279
Maybe Tri-Attack or H-Beam? I alteady have two ghost moves
>>
So after finally finishing breeding my team of Tsareena, Smogon Sword, and Garchomp, I beat the normal singles with only a sitrus berry on Tsareena.

I do fine in supers but get caught by the typical bullshit sets.

Standard sword set

Adamant tsareena

Jolly chomp

>>
>>31093056

You'll aim for Perfect HP, Sp.Atk, Def and Sp.Def.
With this you'll also need No Good for the Speed stat.

You then want the Attack stat to be randomised, and the lower the better. You don't need No Good in Attack as it's less important than No Good in Speed.

If you want 0 speed on a pokemon, just search through your box for mons that have No Good speed stats, and chain breed this IV on to your desired pokemon with Power Anklet, since this item transfers specific stats.
>>
How's my doubles team? Haven't started playing yet, but this is the team I've got in the Pelago for EV training.

Pelipper @ Choice Specs
Drizzle, 252 SpA, 252 HP, Modest
Hurricane
Scald
U-Turn
Ice Beam maybe?

Tapu Koko @ Choice Scarf
Electric Surge, 252 SpA, 252 Spd, Modest
Thunder
Volt Switch
Grass Knot
Dazzling Gleam

Metagross @ Metagrossite
Adamant, 252 Atk, 252 Spd
Hammer Arm
Meteor Mash
Bullet Punch
Zen Headbutt

4th slot still debating. Maybe Marowak-A to Volt Switch into a Lightningrod user. Otherwise maybe Garchomp with a Life Orb. Might also switch Metagross' Hammer Arm for Hone Claws, to deal with evasion hax.

Yes, everything with 95% or better is worth running, everything less is where you start thinking about weaker but more safe options.

Fuck yeah, I finally got to 50 in doubles.

Team was:

Lycanroc w/ King's Rock
No Guard
Jolly
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
- Rock Slide
- Thunder Fang
- Fire Fang
- Stone Edge

Mega-Mence
Adamant
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
- Double-Edge
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Thunder Fang

Tapu Koko w/ Shuca Berry (This actually never activated once, should have been an Air Balloon)
Timid
252 Sp.Att, 252 Speed, 4 HP
- Discharge
- Thunder
- Dazzling Gleam
- Grass Knot

Garchomp w/ Rocky Helmet
Rough Skin
Jolly
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide

Pretty standard really, just throw OP mons and hit hard and fast, and they all synergise in some way. Only real difference was Lycanroc, who somebody here suggested and man, it is SO good. I highly recommend giving it a go, especially when paired with Garchomp/Salamence. Rock Slide flinchhax for days, flinch on the Fang moves, even got flinches off Stone Edge, and it really stopped the Ice-type spam - Choice Scarf wasn't even needed and it could outspeed most annoying things. I have a new appreciation for moondoggo after this.

My favourite game of the streak where the AI tries to meme me and it just falls flat: 6A9W-WWWW-WWW3-Z4XT
>>
so i instantly lost yesterday's 30 streak to a lone rotom-freezer due to sheer stupidity.
put together an impromptu team to get back streak 15 fast with kartana but it won't make the cut later.

i have the following ready to go:
>jolly megamence
>adamant megamence
>jolly SD mimikyu
>jolly kartana
>jolly multi-scale dragonite
>bold CM tapu fini
>timid tapu fini (why)
>timid tapu lele
>some +Spe/-Def/SpD pheromosa
>quiet aegislash x2
>adamant priority golisopod
>adamant A-marowak
>adamant dhelmise

and then some other good/perfect IV or partially EV trained crap including beldums, snow warning egg move vulpix, regenerator haze mareanie, minior, timid koko, adamant bulu, timid xurcitree, quiet/some +spD celesteela and BP for any megastones.

i'm kind of getting desperate after losing quite a few times in the mid30s to sheer stupidity on my part or RNG.

Well I managed 50 in Singles and Doubles without too much trouble, but Multi just makes me want to die. The only partner I've had any success with is Kiawe, but he always shits the bed in the EXACT. SAME. WAY. Right at the 40+ home stretch.

>My pokemon KO's one pokemon
>surviving opponent begins to set up
>A-Marowak used Detect
>boosted pokemon knocked down to low health, KO's my pokemon
>A-Marowak ignores the boosted opponent, gets KO'd
>Mega Kanga used Fake Out!
>on the non-boosted pokemon
>boosted pokemon KO's my final pokemon
>boosted pokemon sweeps Mega Kanga

This exact scenario has happened at 40+ wins six times in a row now. Twice to Shell Smash Kommo-o, just now to Quiver Dance Volcarona. JUST. FUCKING. FAKE-OUT THE BOOSTED POKEMON.
>>
>>31097167
Golisopod, of course.
Gotta take advantage of that First Impression.
It's hilarious how often the AI tries to counter it with Protect, then suddenly sending out something like Espeon or Exeggutor the next match.

>>31097173
Try to make a team weak to steel, then scout Colress.
>>
>>31097191
I've heard he's only good with Magnezone. I've never seem him use it, my current Colress uses Porygon-Z and M-Metagross and he seems pretty incapable. I tried using him for a while but he just can't sweep like Kiawe can and I always lose in the 30+ range.
>>
>>31097210
>Porygon-Z and M-Metagross
Shit, anon, that's the exact setup my Colress had when I beat Red and Blue with him.
What pokemon are you pairing with his?
I used Lele and a Hydreigon, and they cover each other nicely.
>>
>>31097228
M-Lucario and I've been rotating the second around a lot. I've tried all four Tapus, Garchomp, Golisopod, etc. M-Metagross just isn't that fantastic compared to M-Kanga, and Porygon-Z rarely OHKOs anything. The Kiawe team is pretty great and could easily go on an infinite win streak; I generally don't lose a single pokemon at all until the AI just shits the bed and starts spamming Detect and Fake Out on the wrong pokemon.
>>
>>31097261
>m-lucario lead
Aren't you worried about that double fighting weakness between you and Porygon-Z?
>>
>>31097269
There's practically nothing that can outspeed and OHKO in the first 40 battles, and even in 40-50 it's very rare. M-Lucario basically won me Super Singles by himself.

Timid.

I'm generally finding it's better to go for +Speed in most scenarios where you aren't expecting to go last, because you'll 2hko either way - you may as well be faster when you do.

At least this is the case in the Battle Tree.
>>

I pretty much broke Battle Tree by pairing Oranguru with Golisopod and, believe it or not, Dhelmise. Golisopod can do heavy damage before the Trick Room is set up, and then under it he has serious staying power with Leech Life. Dhelmise has great coverage with triple STAB and can also take a lot of punishment.

For Singles, not really, three pokemon isn't enough to cover every single threat you can possibly face in 50+ battles so it's always going to come down to a certain amount of luck.

For Doubles, though, the AI can't really handle Trick Room teams.
>>
Is there a way to scout Red and Blue for Multis? I beat Red in Super Singles but there wasn't an option to scout him.
>>
>>31097777
At least you have Sina, I guess? Sunfags really missed out on pretty much everything version-exclusive.
>>
>>31097228
So I tried this team one more time to see if I was missing anything. I seriously don't get what I'm missing, Porygon-Z struggled to beat a Vaporeon on Battle 1, and I lost to Wally's scarfed Garchomp on Battle 10. How is Colress in any way good?
>>

Porygon-Z is really only good in the hands of a player with Z-Conversion. It's subpar as hell without those stat boosts.

Anyone got any doubles tips/strategies for me? Any specific useful pokemon, moves, abilities etc.

Even stuff that seems common sense; before Sun i never played competively or looked into iv/natures etc. I've just been playing Super Singles but doubles looks like a whole different game.
>>
>>31097981
Things that hit multiple Pokemon at the same time.
Quake and Rock Slide are Doubles staples for a reason.
If using Quake, don't forget to use it with something that flies.
I also make liberal use of Protect. Sometimes the AI just hates one of your mons, while the other one just fights back and doesn't care.

Thanks anon. Also whats up with people using Oranguru alot in doubles? What about him makes him useful?
>>

>>31097835

The receptionist tells you those assholes can't be scouted when you ask about scouting.
>>
>>31098109

Telepathy + Instruct. One anon uses it to have the Koko use discharge twice a turn.

Speaking of, what doubles build in particular do people like for Oranguru?
>>
>>31098109
Telepathy + Instruct son
>>
>>31098087
I don't think Golisopod is good for doubles, the combination of First Impression + Emergency Exit isn't as abusable when two things can attack you at the same time.
You have two team members weak to Bug and Electric, each. You should either have counters for them or spread out those weaknesses more.
>>
>>31097981

There are lots of strats designed for doubles but you don't really need to know about most of them, just look things up if you're confused about something.

Moves like Rock Slide, Dazzling Gleam are good, then moves like Surf, Earthquake and Discharge are very powerful but hit your own ally - but you can just run something immune to those moves. However don't only rely on multi-hit moves, they can be blocked by a move called Wide Guard and sometimes you just want to do heavy damage on one opponent.

Also field effects like Terrain and Weather are pretty decent in Doubles as they will affect everyone. Pokemon with Fake Out are also pretty decent, Fake Out is very useful in Doubles.

"Good doubles mons for dummies" would be:

Garchomp. Immune to Discharge, has STAB Earthquake
Salamence. Has Intimidate, immune to Earthquake.
Tapu Koko. Electric Terrain which blocks Sleep, has STAB Discharge.
Tapu Fini. Misty Terrain which blocks Status, has STAB Surf
Alolan-Marowak. Has Lightning Rod which makes it immune to Electric attacks and will absorb single-target Electric attacks on an ally.
Pelipper. Has Drizzle for Rain Teams, STAB Surf and Tailwind.
Alolan-Ninetails. Has Snow Warning for Hail teams, has Aurora Veil and Blizzard.
Lycanrock-Midnight. No Guard + Rock Slide for guaranteed damage + possible flinch.
Oranguru. Has a move called Instruct which lets an ally attack again.

Most above also have decently strong regular single-target STAB moves too.
>>
>>31098150
Okay, then Golisopod is out, maybe I should change Gyarados for Mega Salamence with EQ, and for Golisopod's replacement... I have no idea. Maybe an Ultra Beast?

Finally got past Wally and his bullshit.

XF8G-WWWW-WWW3-Z8UU

It was still a close battle, but his mistake was using mega garchomp, that was a free KO.

Fuck you Wally. Now I'm bracing myself for Colress, who will undoubtedly show up at round 40 to try and fuck me over (again).
>>
>>31098205
Gyarados is probably fine, but I use the non-mega form.
Garchomp might work for your last team slot.
Having one will mean you have no weaknesses that overlap, and you get spammable STAB Quake, which Oranguru and (regular) Gyarados are immune to.
Being immune to Koko's Discharges also helps.
Just remember to give Koko Protect if you decide to use Chompy.

They both do about the same amount of damage, I think LO+SD does slightly more but you'll two-shot anything with Shadow Sneak regardless

Pros to Z-Splash
+ Only takes one turn to come online
+ Ignores Taunt (kind of a big deal)
+ No health cost obviously

Pros to SD + Life Orb
+ Can afford to switch out of a bad match-up
+ Can break walls and counter Haze, by doing extra boosts in their face
+ No annoying cutscene

I prefer Z-Splash because I need to give my Life Orb to someone else, and my Mimikyu is a HP+Atk Adamant type it's actually pretty tanky even with Disguise down, so having no LO recoil makes it really reliable.

For a Jolly Atk+Speed Mimikyu, Life Orb probably makes more sense and you don't have to play knowing you only get one boost to make use with.

Lycanroc's moveset is actually super limited so there isn't much else besides the two fangs already there, and I barely used them even though though they synergise so well.

Stone Edge gives you focused burst on a single target instead of spreading out your rock damage when you don't want to. And I mean hell, it's a 100 damage STAB move with increased crit chance and it won't miss ever. Very hard to pass that up.

Also doubling up moves isn't a bad idea in Battle Tree as the AI will interpret it as more of a reason not to run pokemon weak to them - in my case more Rock moves = less Ice types trying to counter my dragons.

>>31099118

Because of the contact damage I broke it's Sash. I also didn't take the bait trying to Thunder the Alakazam, which would have been absorbed by Lighting Rod otherwise.

Funny thing is I faced the exact same thing a few trainers later, tried the same tricks and they completely punished me for it. I didn't feel so cool then.

>>31101184
Nope...or atlease not completely. It's rare but attract hax exists and you don't want your whole team to be the same gender if it happens.
>>
>>31101184
I prefer female just so I can easily get more egg moves later, but that's about it. Most mons don't have more than two good egg moves anyway.

Depends if it's excessively femminine or masculine in design. Machamp's gotta me male and Gardvoir has gotta be female, beyond shit like that, I don't care.
>>
>>31097035
I'm kind of late with this, but the Lycanroc set is absolutely awful. In case you didn't know (and I'm pretty sure you didn't know), King's Rock does NOT stack with moves that already have a chance to flinch. In other words, when you're using Rock Slide, Thunder Fang or Fire Fang, your held item literally doesn't do anything. In that set it only works with Stone Edge. I suggest that you change the item immediately to something better like Scarf, Band, Life Orb, Focus Sash or Expert Belt. Pretty much anything else to be honest.
>>
>>31101184
i generally try to go for females only since breeding them later is much easier. The only exception is if the pokemon has a really annoying gender ratio and i need to breed for a hidden power (e.g. HP Fire Froakie or Eevee) or if I get a stray shiny and it happens to be male. Then i don't care

>>
Is zygarde complete good for the tree to cheese it? I got mine adamant 4iv -spA -sdD. I'm ev training it for attack and speed (?). Thousand arrows, rest, sleep talk, dragon dance. Maybe leftovers. Who should I use with it?
>>
>>31100069
What the hell is Crunch for? SD + Lum Berry let you sweep easily. Iron Head for fairy and ice coverage.
>>
>>31104832
since when is zygarde allowed in tree
>>
>>31104832
Zygarde is illegal dude. Even the 10% form.
>>
Oh shit I didn't know any poles weren't allowed I haven't fucked with tree yet I just started working on a team today. Now I'm sad I wasted time finding all those damn cells
>>

>>
>>31104965

Why would you think Zygarde would be allowed in the tree?
>>
Currently breeding a bold Wide Guard Pelliper for doubles. What build should I give it and who should I team it up with aside from Koko?

Also Leftovers or Damp Rock?
>>
>>31105272

Koko or something like Gastrodon, though nobody bothers with Gastrodon at the moment since it can't learn Earth Power yet.

Move set could be:

- Wide Guard
- Hurricane
- Tailwind is great
- Scald / Surf if you want to run Protect on Koko

Run something like A-Marowak or a Ground type to switch into when you expect Electric damage

I have an Adamant Minior with perfect IVs in everything except special attack, Already maxed out his attack EVs, should I dump the rest in speed?
>>
Does Top Lel have any place in doubles? I just spent 12 rare candies bumping my modest one (works well with scarf) into hyper training range so I could fix her shit hp and sp.sef.
>>
>>31098162
Pelipper has Wide Guard as well. He's a godly partner this game.
>>
What's the best item for the Memekyu set? Life Orb, Rocky Helmet, Mental Herb, Lum, something else? I'm using Red Card, and I haven't ran into anything where it actually made a difference.

>tfw lost in Doubles at battle 99
Maaaan, I couldn't get anywhere near my old Maison record. Have to wait for that Pokebank compatibility to get my old Mons here.
>>
Would appreciate some advice here.

I just lost at battle 47. My team:

Xurkitree@ Choice Specs [Timid]
Volt Switch
Thunderbolt
HP Ice
Energy Ball

Gyarados@ Gyaradosite [Jolly]
Waterfall
Crunch
Dragon Dance
Earthquake

Garchomp@ Choice Scarf [Jolly]
Earthquake
Outrage
Rock Slide
Iron Head

I lost against: Lurantis, Exeggutor, Leafeon.

Lurantis was easy enough, but the Exeggutor 1HKOd Garchomp with Bloom Doom, and then did the same to Xurkitree with Leaf Storm (Lurantis set up Sunny Day before it fainted so Exeggutor was fast). I sent in Gyarados, got up a DD while Exeggutor used Grassy Terrain and then KOd it. Leafeon 1HKOd with Leaf Blade after I chipped away half its health.

I could have gone for another DD, but I played it safe (figured if I got greedy I would get a critical leaf storm hit on me).

Basically, I'm not sure what I could switch around with to deal with bulky grass types without creating other holes. I could replace Xurk with Tapu koko, but then I lose grass coverage in energy ball. this team consistently gets me to a ~45 streak but I need a change for that last push
>>
>>31108249
also I just realized that tapu koko gets grass knot, so that might be something to think about after all

>>
>>31108408
Zygarde is legal in Battle Royal?
>>
>>31108520
I saw multiple people use it. I have a Battle Video of one and even Zygarde complete was used.
>>
>>31108540
Man, I have to get myself one. Just can't think of a set to run on it. Maybe specially defensive RestTalk Coil, although I'd like to try a Substitute set too to activate Power Construct.
>>
>>31108645
Yeah I have no idea how to use this thing. I know Thousand Arrows is good and that's about it.

Problem is I still have to get all the cores and I only have 20 left.
>>
>>31094291
And then you run into Wishiwashi
>>
What's a good set to use for Tapu Koko?

I'm using
-Dazzling Gleam
-Thunderbolt
-Volt Switch
-Grass Knot

I feel like Grass Knot isn't pulling it's weight because you need a heavy water Pokemon for it to be effective enough and that's kinda of rare in the Tree.

I mainly used Volt Switch for STAB and the Electric Terrain boost. Don't really want to use U-Turn since it does ass damage and Kartana uses X-Scissor to cover Bug.
>>
>>31108669

Once I got to 80 cores I just grabbed spare Zygarde Doggos off the GTS, you can usually trade them for spare Ultra Beasts or stuff like Politoed.

Way easier.

Just got wiped at floor 38 by legit cheating AI
>Pheromosa w/ 441 speed
OUTSPED by
>Typhlosion with a maximum speed of 250 w/ 31 speed IVs, 252 speed EVs, speed boosting nature and a choice scarf

No moves with priority were selected. There was no quick claw activation either.

How the fuck is this possible unless the AI cheated?

what set should i run on Drampa for singles

How viable is this set? It was great for the past battle facilities.

Gengar@Focus Sash
252/252 SpA/Speed
-Sludge Bomb
-Shadow Ball
-Dazzling Gleam
-Destiny Bond

Lead and if you can 2hko whilst being brought down to sash. Then destiny bond to get rid of the 2nd mon as you go.

Obvs weather and priority are issues but you could work around that in the maison.
