I fucking love spiders. Ariados was never very good, but I used it anyways. Galvantula was like the ONLY good design from 5th Gen and Compoundeyes Thunder carried me through everything. And then...we finally get a *really good* spider. And it looks like complete shit.

Who looked at Araquanid's design and said, "yeah, okay, this is good"? In what form does a fucking diving bell spider and a submersible vehicle fit together?? Because it's certainly not this one. I was so pissed to find out the first really good arachnid was also piss in a sewer ugly. Absolutely the biggest disappointment in Pokemon in a long time.

Honestly Araquanid looks more like an insect to me and Dewpider doesn't really resemble an animal at all, but they're still great.

Ariados is one of my favorites and definitely the best early route bug by far.

While is works very well in nature, in sprite form conveying more than two pairs of legs becomes tricky without looking very visually cluttered. Unfortunately, this policy has carried over to the rather clumsy and ugly 6 and 7th gen 3D models.

Araquanid is fucking top tier. Top tier design, top tier ability. 382.5 base damage choice banded Liquidation under the rain is the most powerful move in existence.

The reason why the leg balls are there is so it doesn't look off. Without them, you practically just have two lines touching while not looking like legs.

I hope that Ariados keeps getting better and that we get a few more spiders. Spider mons are fucking awesome. Black Widow or Peacock spider would be my next big hopes.

Nerscylla, similarly to Galvantula only has 4 legs. The front two appendages (pedipalps) aren't considered legs.

I don't think it's a huge deal in any case. Unfortunately trying to cram 8 legs onto these tiny ass handheld screens would be a nightmare, especially in the case of Ariados where it would've been a sprite on fucking GBC.
