Gen VII signature moves

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

With how many of the new moves introduced in Sun and Moon turned out to be signature moves, which of them do you think other already established Pokemon should be able to learn? Although there are a lot, the one that immediately comes to mind for me is Strength Sap on Paras and Parasect. Parasect's got PokeDex entries discussing it draining nutrients from tree roots, and all things considered it would also fit well with the parallels between it and Shiinotic.
>>
>>31067942
>Shore Up
Regirock: it's a Ground-type move, but it works decently thematically considering that Sand is associated with Rock-types, and would serve to finally give this thing some decent recovery.
>First Impression
Pinsir and Heracross: the move is called 'Head-on Collision' in Japanese, which works well with being based on stag and rhinoceros beetles.
>Clanging Scales
Noivern: it's a sound-themed Dragon-type, Pokémon have gotten moves for worse reasons before.
>Ice Hammer
Kyurem-B: it's got the big meaty claws for it.

Can, like.. ANY physical fire type user get this? I mean, I'm one of the four people who actually kind of likes Heatmor, so I'm glad he got something this generation, but still.
>>
I really want trop kick tropius, but it doesn't quite have the leg structure for it. Floral healing could work for a couple of things like meganium and bellossom. Would shadow bone duskull (and by extension clops and noir) be reasonable? All of these are just thematically fitting rather than really helpful (like clanging scales noivern would be).

Realistically what mons would even want this move? All I can think of is Arcanine, bulky Infernape and Intimidate Incineroar. I guess some mons like Mienshao would appreciate it too since it's straight up upgraded Fire Punch. Maybe Tangrowth since it's made out of vines?

Ice Hammer: Not Mew.
>>
>>31067942
I know Torkoal just got a buff but She'll Trap makes perfect sense, right?

Shore Up should go to all Ground and Rock types that are literally made of dirt or rocks (Golem, Onix, Gigalith, Regirock, Claydol, Golurk, etc.).

Purify should go to Muk, Weezing, and Garbodor.

>The user regains up to half of its max HP. It restores more HP in a sandstorm.
>Called "Sand Gather" in Japanese

Palossand is healing itself by absorbing more sand into its body.

It only makes sense for Pokemon that are literally made of dirt or rock.
>>
>>31068623
Neither are any of the mons you named. dirt/rock=/=sand
>>
>>31068610
Not to sound like a weeb, but people should really look up the Japanese name before discussing which mons should get which moves. It's called Sand Gather and has nothing to do with shores.
>>
>>31068700
Yet Ground, Rock, and Steel are all associated with sandstorms. Rock is BOOSTED by sandstorms. While Starmie is damaged by sandstorms.

>>31068638
Yeah, this Anon gets it. It works for Starmie insomuch as it's a pokémon found on the beach, but beyond that it doesn't.

You're looking for a Pokémon that would regain health by absorbing sediment, and would also naturally be found on a beach.

Starmie gets Recover anyway. Y'know who DOESN'T get Recover, and whom Shore Up would be a blessing to? Cradily

>>31068889
I'm all for giving pokemon more moves, but half of these don't make sense. Beak blast's whole gimmick is that the user heats up their beak. Are staraptor and dodrio known for their toasty beaks? Archeops doesn't even have a beak. Why would snorlax get dragon hammer? Fire lash maractus? Darkest lariat electivire/hariyama (considering the user's hands get cloaked in fire for the move, darm and vire kind of make sense, but the lariat part doesn't)?
Is there something I'm missing with these?

Fair point, I didn't realize the move was specifically made for toucannon.

>Dragon Hammer Snorlax
Considering it's basically a dragon type Body Slam, I gave it to heavy or bulky mons.

>Fire Lash Maractus
"It lives in the desert and seems like it would fit it" is pretty much my only justification. That, and it NEEDS coverage.

The move info mentions swinging both arms to hit the target, I gave it to mons with big arms or that are very bulky.

Did you reply to the wrong person? I was saying that Galvanize is the best ability for A Golem while the other guy was arguing that Magnet pull is better.
>>
>>31069476
Yes, but that's if you're running galvanize. If you're running magnet pull, you trade better electric stabs for the ability to remove skarmory, magnezone, ferrothorn, and kind of celesteela and heatran (EQ/EP respectively, but shuca A golem is cool and ). Galvanize is fun, but trapping for mimikyu/gyara/buzzwole/etc. is typically a better use of alolem.

>To what, exactly? It's only meant for Skarm and Cele.
Both. Skarm can just roost then either whirlwind you out or keep roosting until Golem dies form recoil.
>Balloon lets Golem win. Magnezone can't beat Heatran at all
And another balloon on Heatran let's it win. Magnezone just volt switches out of Heatran.
>>
>>31068889
Lol at that Dragon Hammer

Do you think they'll just find an A-Exeggutor and just bash the opponent with it?
>>
>>31069595
Even if Claydol did get recovery, its still not going to be walling much with those number of weaknesses.
>>
>>31069778
No, Dragon Hammer is basically just a body slam with a dragon typing
>>
>>31069769
Power Whip can't OHKO Golem.
Skarm can stall. Common Cele can't though, it needs to be fully defensive. Most are specially defensive.
And if Heatran has lefties or grassium?

I don't even think Magnet Pull A-Golem is that good but it has it's uses.
>>
>>31069918
It's heavily implied that DH is Exeggutor whipping his head down to smash the opponent, which is why it's exclusive to a big ass palm tree.
>>
>>31069769
>>31070021
Golem's whole deal is that you can trap heatran and other bulky steel types like skarm in one teamslot instead of using dug+zone like a faggot. That's it. Let's move on.

What about beak blast talonflame? Kinda fits. Not sure if it'd really help much if at all since talon needs all the speed it can get and going last flies in the face of that.

Toxic thread should be given to a few other pokemon, maybe things like accelgor or galvantula.

darkest lariat could go to cacturne (right body shape, is stab)

Fleur cannon should go to gardevoir, altaria, audino and diancie

Burn up should go to pyroar, salazle and turtonator.

celesteela should get heat crash (ever watched a rocket crash or blow up on launch?) though thats from gen 5

Torkoal should get shell trap.

moltres and ho-oh get beak blast

Cofagrigous should get shadow bone

shiftry and kartana should get solar blade

Shore up could go to claydol and golurk.

accelrock should go to archeops and Onix

...nothing that exists now

>Clanging Scales
Noivern, Venomoth (name is "scale noise," and Noivern is known for being a loud dragon while Venomoth is known for being covered in scales plus it gets a cool niche)

Also, the following moves should be more widespread:
Electrify, Gear Grid, Fire Lash, Head Charge, Tail Slap, Power Trip, Heat Crash, Smelling Salts, Barrage

I wouldn't even bother testing.
>double damage, halved by NVE
>half damage, doubled by SE
You'd end up the same either way.

doing some research for this shows that the Lillipup line can be bred Psychic Fangs, but Bulba doesn't say how they can get it.

According to Serebii, the only way to breed it is using a Smeargle and Sketch.

...how often does that happen? What a silly obscure way to get an egg move.
>>
>>31076833
Remember egg bomb?
>tm 37 in gen 1
>only 3 pokemon learned it, 1 was a prevo and the other was chansey
>>
>>31078297
Also Tyranitar since its body is just a 7 foot shell full of sand to protect the Pupitar
>>
>>31070141
Not only that but TFlame can Brave Bird and then still get burns off via Flame Body ... which is probably than Mild Breeze Wings after the nerf.
>>
>>31075942
Exactly why it shouldnt happen

136+ Atk Heracross-Mega Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tyranitar: 366-432 (107.3 - 126.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Doesnt do much to Tankchomp but this was the most relevant calc I could think of.
Maybe a Wash Rotom

>Accelerock
>Nothing else makes sense

You have to be kidding me. Golem? Gigalith? Literally anything with rocks on its body could feasibly learn that move. Now, whether giving such a broken move wide distribution is a good idea or not...
>>

>Nidoking
>Rapidash
>Rhydon
>Taurus
>lapras
>Samurott
>Seaking

So either the horn has to be painfully obvious, Gen1, or Ariados.
>>

>Golem? Gigalith
> The user smashes into the target at high speed.
Aerodactyl could get it Oh sweet jeesus yes.
Rampardos, arguably. Through chain Breeding or Tutor though, nothing easy.
Archeops?
Scolipede(?)

Something that has a fairly sturdy body and rams its body into things at very high speed.
>>
>>31078579
Honestly, I feel like it'd be safe on any rock type not named Tyranitar. Rock is a shitty enough type that even if something like Rampardos got it it wouldn't be broken.
>>
>>31078603
Oh fuck, forgot about Terrakion. Keep it away from cancerdog.

STAB priority that gets boosted by Tough Claws? Where do I sign?
>>31069645
Smogon still bans things that are broken on Stall. Regenerator Chansey would be broken, so Smogon would have to ban Chansey.
>>
>>31078679
Look closely at Tyranitar.
Those black spots on it are actually holes, you can see the thickness of it. there's literally nothing inside of it's body.
Except thousands of pounds of sand.

> Its body can't be harmed by any sort of attack, so it is very eager to make challenges against enemies.
>It feeds on soil. After it has eaten a large mountain, it will fall asleep so it can grow.
>>
>>31078733
That would explain why it doesn't weigh nearly as much as it should, if the actual body is hollow and just filled with sand.
>>
>>31078603
>>31078533
>>31078579

I was thinking Cranidos, Aerodactyl, etc. but I didnt want it to be broken. Also, most rock types don't scream 'fast'
>>
>>31077938
Most things in Field group get some wacky moves of Smeargle.
My favourite is Moonblast and Freeze-Dry for Alola Vulpix.

Rock should really get recovery so it isn't just a worse Steel type defensively.
>>
>>31078963
>Rock should really get recovery so it isn't just a worse Steel type defensively.
Which would be a move like Shore Up.

Also, how come there isn't an ability for Rock-types to absorb Stealth Rock yet? They can switch in and absorb it for Defense or HP. Call it "Rockbiter" or something.

>>31068368
>give Heatmor a signature move
>a generation after it was introduced
>a pokemon everyone's already forgotten
>make it run off its lower attack stat
>it's not even available this gen

W-what did GF mean by this? Was there just, like, one programmer who remembered Heatmor who was fired before they could actually put Heatmor in the game?
>>
>>31078862
"Broken" is a relative term. And it's not like Accelerock is a particularly powerful move. Priority moves don't really reach "broken" levels until you're talking at least 90 BP after Ability + STAB with Swords Dance and a good type combo+bulk to go with it. Seriously does anything even use the 40 BP priority moves without an Ability boost these days? Even Accelerock Tyranitar probably wouldn't be broken, seeing as Fighting-types shrug off just about everything it can do and would still blow it the fuck up with any STAB from Mach Punch on up.
>>
>>31078992
>Rock-types to absorb Stealth Rock yet
Archeops.
Absorbs SR, immune to [Toxic] Spikes and Sticky Web ...

>>31078994
>Heatmor was introduced in gen 6
what did he mean by this?
>>
>It's a shitmon has a super good ability but has no way to abuse it and would be literally better on anything episode
>>
>>31079027
>Archeops
>ever getting an Ability that isn't Defeatist
>>
>>31068908
That is the worst bullshit. I mean, yeah, technically you could consider it a signature move, but Bulbapedo's definition of a 'signature move' is just kinda dumb. A move that used to be learnable by almost everything but now got restricted to only one mon is not a signature move, they should just add that to the definition rather than being autistic about it.
>>
>>31079027
I was thinking Regirock, Golem, Onix, Gigalith... mons made of stone, actually
>>
>>31079043
I really hope they do. Game freak needs to just admit they can't properly design a mon with a negative effect ability and change gigas/slaking/archeops
>>
>>31079027
See, even I forgot how long Heatmor's been around. This just proves my point even further.
>>
>>31079028
First thing I thought of was Moxie Pyroar.
>>
>>31068445
It gets stomp..?
>>
>>31079043
Even Mega Archeops would just have Mega Defeatist, which causes it to devolve back into regular Archeops.
