I'm so lucky I was looking for these things. Got a Golduck with Damp to play it safe. I wasn't even fully aware it was shiny since the fuckers look the same with their shields on. I caught a glimpse of the final spark. Bastard tried to self-destruct twice if it weren't for Damp. I didn't even bother to lower its health to check if it was shiny.

Now I truely have all the Minior variants.

Its easy once you catch everything else, just snipe on the GTS and you can normally grab one of them for someone asking for a dragonite or something. Then you can just trade a Magmortar for an Electrivire for next awkward trade evo.

The pokedex grind is real.

GTS would be pretty handy if 99% of the asshats didn't ask for legendaries or level 90+ Pokemon for the most mundane of shit. Anytime I happen to come across a reasonable trade it always gets taken before I can initiate it. Fucking annoying.

About 60% complete and it feels like it doesn't end.

I bred a shiny Meowth with it recently, after trying over 1500 eggs normally without any success.
Got a shiny Magikarp within 150 eggs, but wasn't too thrilled at first with the IV spread.
Did a bit further research and found out that skipping eggs can result in shinies with other stats because of the egg generation this gen.
Managed to get exactly the Meowth I wanted because of that.

P.S. Swapping the Destiny Knot and the Everstone between the Ditto and the parent doesn't seem to mess up the egg generation. At least, not in my case, where both parents were 6IV.

I'm going for a shiny Mareanie right now, but I have a question regarding swap breeding.

I think if the shiny turns out to not have Regenerator, I'll reset to before I received the egg (assuming the last point I saved wasn't too far back) and switch out the Mareanie with another Pokemon with the same gender ratio, but probably a different nature. This will work, right?

Also, does anyone know If I wanted a mon with a specific nature, would I need to give my gyarados an everstone as well? I know putting in a mon with no gender/specific gender will fuck up the process so I was wondering if it would cause a similar messup. Basically would it make a difference if I did no everstone gdos -> shiny magikarp -> reset -> everstone on the desired mon, as opposed to everstone gdos -> shiny karp -> reset -> everstone on desired mon? I actually didn't want a Shiny I just hatched eggs 'cause I was bored.
Luckily with Regenerator but the nature is Quiet ( Is that even good?)

An egg is made up of something like 30 random rolls, most of which are IVs. Rejecting an egg counts as one roll, and offsets the next egg and all after it by one. That's means the IVs will be rerolled. But it also means gender and ability are rerolled, as well. The reason shininess can be maintained is that with Masuda method and shiny charm you have 8(?) rolls, so there's a big buffer. If the original egg turned shiny on the fourth roll, rejecting (skipping) an egg will offset it so the shiny is rolled on the third opportunity and the other aspects of the pokemon are changed.

There's a chance your buffer won't allow this, but you can always undo it if so

The normal shiny swapping method uses the eggs being generated in advance. However, in between these eggs that you normally take, there's more data for eggs being generated. You can access this data by rejecting eggs. Usually there's between 12-14 "hidden" eggs that can be accessed by constanly rejecting eggs, hatching and retrying.
Likewise, there's usually hidden shiny data generated around the one shiny egg that you hatch. This data comes in the form of "patches" of shiny data. So, by rejecting the shiny egg that you would normally get, you can get access to shinies with stats that you normally wouldn't get.

Relicanth fishes at 1% in Poni, but just save in front of a bubbling spot where it's 10% chance. Reset if no oldfish and eventually you'll get it. Then clone via ditto and flog those babies on the GTS

I know dhelmise was a good alternative too a week or so ago but the 'economy' or whatever on GTS might shift, castform is also a good bet if you can get one. I had better luck with relicanth than those others but results may vary.

I'm not stupid, I know a Master Ball can be better spent. But I've saved my MBs in every game since Platinum specifically for peace of mind if a chance shiny appears, and this is the first time I've found one since then.

Maybe you have a "logical best practice" for catching shinies, but I always intended keeping my MB for just this specific occasion.

Now that I have a shiny I can relax and use regular balls if one appears again. My last shiny was a Bibarel in the Safari Zone, now that's pressure!

Comfey is rare (5%) and only appears in the Lush Jungle, an area people almost never revisit. Doesn't matter what ball, netted me a couple UBs. Vulpix is very popular, slap a love ball on that little shit and watch the profits roll, although Pikachu is better.

As for why Pikachu is better? I can't really say why definitively, but I can copy my post from the GTS thread.

I use only one box, and name it "0". Every time I get to the end of it, I add a number to the box's name. So when you finally get that glorious shiny, you can look at your box named "23", multiply by 30, see that there are 14 Pokemon in the current box, and then surmise that you got your shiny in 704 eggs.

I just gave this a try (just for a shiny Growlithe, don't care about IVs) first time I've seen it. This is what I did

- saved, throw a Japanese Ditto and a random Magikarp in
- ran in circles, picking up eggs as I go
- I tend to hatch 5 eggs then go into the PC and replace the hatched Magikarps with 5 new eggs, basically just cycling them in and out
- I filled a box and didn't get a shiny, so I took the Magikarp out, cleared my box, then saved and threw it back in
- in this batch my 18th egg was a shiny Magikarp, so I reset and instead of throwing Magikarp in I threw in Growlithe with Everstone
- 18th egg was shiny Growlithe

It definitely works and I would say it's worth doing. I never realized how long Growlithe takes to hatch after doing a batch of Magikarp eggs. I probably filled a box in 15 minutes

Good taste, Owl has one of the best starter shinies and I've been trying for one too. I know people say the tiger shiny is supposed to be the wrestler counterpart but it honestly looks so terrible I prefer the standard black and red.

Was still breeding for IVs when this little fella popped out completely unexpectedly. Luckily it got everything it needs. Must have been around 30 eggs if i had to guess, since I wasn't even "hunting" yet, and thus not paying attention.

So glad I managed to get the balltism and Aqua Jet in place, too.
