How can I make her competitive?
Also Lurantis thread.

Trick Room
Can i touch her bugbutt?
>>31049788
>45 speed
You can't.
>>31049788
Opee, sadly the only reliable set for Lurantis is probably it's Leaf Storm one. As it stands, it does not have enough firepower or variety in the move pool to sweep, but as Serperior has shown Contrary Leaf Storm is exceedingly powerful. It will do well in RU, but has zero niche in the upper tiers.
>>31049801
And Contrary
>>31049788
It hurts
Try a doubles team with trick room + drought
petal blizzard + instruct spam
it's not great but I got decent streaks in battle tree with it
Wait till one day it will receive some good Attacks to go with Contrary
Leaf Storm
HP Fire
Defog
Synthesis
w/ Contrary
unfortunately Lurantis is so shit that it's outclassed by Servine (yes, Servine, not Serperior) so use it as a Defog or Trick Room option.
Laurinaitis thread?
>>31050033
>HP fire
W H Y
>>31050206
So you don't get shut down by Steel types. You can also run HP Ice if you need to deal with Dragon types.
>>31050193
Someone have sauce of that Chicken?
>>31050033
How is it outclassed by Servine? Servine doesn't get Defog, and doesn't hit as hard.
>>31050033
Why not on a sun team with contrary leaf Storm and weather ball?
>100 power fire move buffed by sun or another type in case your weather gets fugged
>>31050253
Servine has more bulk and is faster. It also has better utility moves w/ Glare, Leech Seed, or Knock Off. Defog or Trick Room team are literally the only reason to use Lurantis over it.
>>31050301
That's not called being outclassed. That's different roles, man. Slowbro and Starmie have the same typing but they fulfill different spots on a team in OU.
>>31050033
>Lurantis only get Defog through egg moves
>only accessible with Seedot line
>Seedot only get Defog through egg moves too
>only accessible with Smeargle
Being Lurantis is suffering.
>>31049788
>her
anyways, you dont. It's inferior to Tsareena as a physical attacker and vastly outclassed by serperior as a Leaf Storm sweeper. Lurantis is trash, sorry m8. Might have a niche in PU whenever that forms.
>>31050367
>That's not called being outclassed.
Yes it is. More bulk and speed is flat out better and the whole point of Contrary Leaf Storm is to stay in an extra turn to take advantage of the +2. Without speed and bulk you'll just get revenge killed without doing anything.
Slowbro and Starmie do vastly different things so that comparison is terrible.
>>31050206
It's LITERALLY the only other special move Lurantis gets.
>>31050375
It maybe a shitmon but it's nice to look at
>>31050395
No it's not. Servine straight-up lacks Defog, which Lurantis possesses. That alone solidifies them as two completely different roles. And even with Leaf Storm, Servine lacks the same sorts of offensive presence that Lurantis has- you can't run utility Servine with a weak, mono-grass attacking set.
What Lurantis lacks in bulk and speed, it makes up for with being able to hit harder while being able to clear away sneaky pebbles. That's different roles right there.
>>31050258
Because it'd mostly be dead weight on the team.
>>31050367
>different roles
uh no. Lurantis' role is a Leaf Storm sweeper. Servine does it better by having better bulk, better utility moves and a better offensive movepool. Yeah, Lurantis hits harder, but not by much and it's also stupid slow. It's outclassed by a NOT FULLY EVOLVED MON
Sunny Day allows her to throw out Solar Blade fo free, and with Contrary she can get a free Bulk Up every time she Superpowers, which is going to be hard because she's slow and squishy as fuck. If you want to make her competitive, you need to build a team around her. Ice and Poison backup for the ever quick Gengar, or Alolan Ninetales which will switch in on your sunny day to ensure your death. Drought user would free up a slot from Sunny Day letting you find physical coverage move you like to add to the moveset for a surprise.
>>31050301
>better utility moves
Defog is the best utility move in the game, so no.
>>31050499
>superpower
Anon, I...
>>31050452
>No it's not. Servine straight-up lacks Defog, which Lurantis possesses
That doesn't make Lurantis not outclassed. It just means it has a niche. But for the majority of scenarios it's just a worse Servine. One move doesn't make it worth using and there are better defoggers to use.
>Servine lacks the same sorts of offensive presence
Actually being able to stay in and gather Leaf Storm boosts instead of just getting outsped and KO'd is its offensive presence.
>>31050392
>It's inferior to Tsareena
Just because one pile of shit smells slightly worse than another doesn't mean the other is good.
This pokemon is just depressing.
>tfw if you want to use Lurantis you unironically have to treat it like a delicate little flower that will die from being touched because it will
>>31050511
No it's not. Whether or not Defog is necessary is completely dependent on what the rest of your team is and it can even work against you if you need to set up your own hazards. Leech Seed and Glare are universally useful.
>b-but muh charizard bro ;_;
Stop ruining my thread. I get it, Lurantis is a look don't touch waifu. I'll keep her safe in Pelago and far away from online battles.
Now post more Lurantis and stop yelling about Servine.
>>31050452
And Servine gets Glare, Knock Off, TAUNT, Leech Seed, Aromatherapy, I'd much rather have than than be a shitty hazard remover.
Sorry that your waifumon is shit.
>>31050563
>Stop ruining my thread. I get it, Lurantis is a look don't touch waifu. I'll keep her safe in Pelago and far away from online battles.
But anon, now Mohn can touch her as much as he likes.
I fucking love lurantis because I'm obsessed with mimics on a Maximum Autism level. I still get choked up thinking that there's an honest-to-christ mimic flower Pokemon in the ranks now. Have you guys ever seen that wasp mimic mantidfly? I like to pretend that's what Beedrill is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NV3EK4YsP8
>>31050258
Because that takes way too much set up.
First you have to have a mon with Sunny Day, then you need to safely get Lurantis in or sacrifice another mon.
Then it needs to use Leaf Storm at least once. All of that is already 3+ turns and you only got 2-5 more turns left. With Contrary, that also means you're not getting any other benefit from the sun besides Weather Ball. And with 45 base speed, you're not outspeeding anything. Not to mention that there are 7 Sap Sippers in PU as well.
So what does Lurantis gain by being a faux-bug?
>>31050533
I never said that you buttmad waifufag. Also Tsareena has better bulk as well as much better coverage and has utility so it can at least have a niche in something beyond NU.
>>31050206
Specifically for skarmory and ferrothorn, I'd imagine.
>>31050694
She doesn't have a 4x weakness to fire
Holy shit. How we can fix Lurantis?
Give better moves?
Give better Hidden Ability?
Increase stats?
How much
Give a second type?
>>31050716
No that's not what I meant, I mean why masquerade as a bug if it shares most of the weaknesses you already have (and thus most likely the same predators)? I'm talking from a biological perspective not a competitive one.
>>31050694
All the bug dick it wants
>>31050725
It wouldn't save the thing, but Chlorophyll would be nice. Seriously, no one uses Leaf Guard.
>>31050725
Chlorophyll.
Base 80 speed at least.
Solar Blade is Fire and Grass at the same time like Flying Press.
Superpower and Knock Off.
Taunt.
+20 in both defenses.
>>31050375
Didn't Cradily had the same problem?
>Cradily can only get aqua ring via breeding
>The parent needs to be in the Kabuto line
>Which also needs to learn it via breeding
>With a Corsola
>>31050772
Is leaf guard the most garbage ability that isn't one that actively hinders the user?
>>31050744
Avoids being eaten by things that want to eat plants but not bugs. Also, she's a reverse orchid mantis.
>>31050748
This too, finally a proper waifu for Scyther/Scizor instead of that flat-faced Leavanny bitch.
>>31050725
Give her a better Shiny
>>31050725
Transfer 40 of each defense to its speed
then give it a ground move as well and change its hidden ability to a unique ability that makes its STAB super effective on bug types+Tinted Lens like how Water Bubble is Adapability+Water Veil+Fire Resist.
>>31050827
>>31050748
Por que no los dos?
>>31049788
I fucking love lurantis but its competitive capability, while I won't knock the possibilities, are pretty badly designed. Bipolar is probably the best choice of word since GameFreak really had no idea what they wanted to do with the poor thing.
>>31050790
Chlorophyll is kind of the same in a way, but it have as much of a risk vs reward that a speed boost provides. Ran a lilligant in a sun team in gen 5 and some of gen 6 on the times I was able to during breaks and she was ready to wreck house after a single quiver dance regardless of having defenses almost as bad as Froslass'. If Lurantis ever got Chlorophyll, it would help her a bit, but not to the degree of Lilligant with that 45 base speed. If you are ever going to use lurantis, make sure it is either in a trickroom team or just as a defogger if you don't feel like using tsareena for hazard removal for whatever reason
You use Tsareena instead
>>31050941
It really needs a trick room auto-setter. The game, in general, needs it.
I was thinking a mr mume variant. It has same stats as normal mr mime, except it has a base speed of 1. Ability auto sets trick room.
And while we're at it, alolan baltoy/claydol that is a ground/grass tiki totem thing, with an ability that auto sets gravity.
>>31051006
Not like an Auto-TR mon would do Lurantis any favors as it'd be instant OU, possibly even quick banned depending on its stats and movepool.
>>31050533
not (him)
Tsareena gets an ability it can make use of and is even more useful in dubs. Tsareena gets HJK for Steel types and Play Rough for Dragons. Tsareena is on the upper end of the spectrums for both usable physical grass types and usable mono grass types. She would be really amazing if she got Stomping Tantrum for ground coverage to hit fire types for SE damage.
Lurantis cannot compete as a bulky physical user because it lacks coverage and is as slow as marowak. Victribell, Venasuar hell even vileplume, sawsbuck and executor make better sunsweepers. Lurantis might be able to carve a niche for itself as a wall with Aromatherapy/ Leafstorm, defog, giga drain/ synthesis and toxic.
>>31050725
Knock Off, U-turn and Super Power
>>31050952
Why would you use both Chlorophyll and Quiver Dance?
>>31050782
Corsola is in the same egg group as Cradily.
>>31050694
wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimicry_in_plants
>>31051076
the speed boost from the quiver dance is pointless if used under sun, but it's basically a special version of Bulk up with the addition of a speed boost, and the spdef boost from it could help if I make a misprediction
>>31051094
Thank you anon
Why i didn't notice that before?
I want to try a Contrary Lurantis, but what nature must be? I can't decide between Modest or Quiet
>>31052322
Modest is the safest if you aren't carrying any physical moves
Post more Lurantis
>>31053003
This. Preferably more of her with Scyther/Scizor.
I'll dump what I have to get the thread back up.
She's too slow but too fragile for being that slow.
>>31049788
I've put together an extensive guide for you.
