So I've never seen anyone else say it, but I'm rather certain Porygon-Z's lunacy is a result of the Distortion World:

>It DIDN'T go wrong, it just went very, very right
or, alternatively

It's really not that absurd as far as headcanon goes. The only real leap in logic is assuming the alternate dimension it was intended to explore is the distortion world.
But since that was the only alternate dimension alluded to in the games at the time of Porygon Z's introduction, it really isn't that crazy.
