Share video codes, strategies and tips.

Share glorious victories, or crushing defeats.

Bonus points for having the balls to share videos of your failures.
>>
I wanted to upload my battle against Colress, however:

"This battle video can not be made public"

This only happens when the NPC's pokemon has an illegal moveset, meaning the game legitimately cheats.

It was in super doubles, with him running:

Alolan Muk
Porygon 2
Metagross (mega)
Clink Clang

Any of you know which of his pokemon has an illegal move? I wasn't paying that much attention.

And the worst part? I did manage to beat him and scout him for multi battles, but if his first two 'mons were one of the illegal ones, I won't be able to save a single battle video with him as a partner.

Good job gamefreak.

What moveset/items should I use?

Tapu Koko: I don't know at all what to use on it or if I should even use this.

>>31037262

Life Orb, though actually Specs is probably better because Instruct will proc Life Orb twice and the downside of being locked into a move is irrelevant if you're relying on Instruct.

Actually I will do that and then I can move Life Orb to Reuniclus and use him.
>>
>>31037043
It gets foul play as an egg move, you'll need to breed foul play AND parting shot onto a Pancham and then breed a Meowth.
Foul Play is 95 base power, gets a STAB boost, and punishes Pokemon that try to boost their attack, plus you don't need to invest any EVs in attack.
I run toxic, taunt, foul play, and parting shot. You'll be taunting and using parting shot mostly, but foul play will hit hard against physical attackers that Alolan Persian has no problem with thanks to fur coat.
>>
>>31037515
Could be good
That's probably a little more viable than the Krookodile I was planning on running, and about as viable as A Muk
Will do
>>
>>31037528
I've run assault vest A. Muk alongside A. Persian before since I don't have recovery on Muk, but I didn't like having two dark types.
But yeah, Persian is great at taking on physical attackers, and you can taunt walls, parting shot them, and watch them do pitiful damage to your Golisopod with their lowered offenses.
>>
>>31037328

Which two mons?
>>
>>31037113
This was my team:

Kartana @ Focus Sash
Hardy
Beast Boost
-Leaf Blade
-X-Scissor
-Smart Strike
-Sacred Sword

Pelipper @ Wise Glasses
Modest
Drizzle
-Soak
-Blizzard
-Hydro Pump
-Hurricane

Garchomp @ Groundium Z
Jolly
Sand Veil
-Poison Jab
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Iron Head

Salamence @ Salamencite
Jolly
Intimidate > Aerilate
-Dragon Claw
-Return
-Brick Break
-Earthquake

I know it looks like shit, but it worked.

Kartana and Pelipper lead, Drizzle activates and weakens Fire attacks while boosting Hydro Pump and making sure Hurricane never misses. I fully invested in Pelipper's HP and went half/half with the remainder on Def/SpDef. Focus Sash works as a fallback measure in case Kartana would've gotten OHKO'd anyway (unlikely from most Physical Attacks). Pelipper actually hits pretty hard and tends to stay on the field a good while. Rock types weren't too much of a threat with Kartana there and the general low-accuracy of Rock-type moves. The Electric-types I encountered would easily be cleaned up by Garchomp.

Blizzard is there in case an opponent changes the weather to Hail. Rarely used it, but it worked when it needed to somehow. Soak would be there if the opponent sends something bulky that Hydro Pump or Hurricane couldn't do much against as Kartana's Leaf Blade would then be super effective. Kartana normally takes out at least 3 mons before it goes down too. Sometimes I go full matches without losing either lead.

Most Ice-types I encountered were leads as a result of the CPU's response to Garchomp and Salamence being on the field at the same time in the previous match so they're easy pickings for Kartana.

Mega Salamence there to deal with other megas and Garchomp's Z-Move helps me take out hard-to-kill stuff without endangering my Kartana should those two end up on the field at the same time.
>>
>>31038241
>>31037113

Even better if you weren't an idiot like me and got a Kartana with an actual Beneficial Nature.
>>
So I'm making a team right now that I remember being posted here, except I don't remember much of what the move set for each Pokemon were.

Garchomp Jolly, sand veil (never managed to get one with rough skin) 252 in Atack and speed, 4 in def, I Don't know what Item I should give him but when I get enough points for a Garchompite il buy one for sure.
>Dragon claw
>Earthquake
>swords dance
>???
Kartana, Adamant nature, 252 EVs in attack and speed. Dont know what the last 4 EVs should be in and I don't remember the item
>Sacred sword
>Smart strike
>Swords dance
>Leaf blade
Mimikyu, Jolly with 252 in attack, speed, 4 EVs in def, Item is either red card or Life orb.
>Swords dance
>Play rough
>Shadow Sneak
>Shadow claw
Don't know if I should replace one of Mimikyu's moves with Taunt since I'm guaranteed to face a stall mon.

Team I finally won with was

I've got a Porygon-Z@Normalium that's ready to go but I'm wondering if I should find a better wall than Lele instead of the replacing Leafeon?

Salamence (F) @ Salamencite
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brick Break
- Dragon Claw
- Flamethrower
- Return

EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dazzling Gleam

Primarina (F) @ Assault Vest
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 138 SpA

- Energy Ball

Lycanroc-Midnight (F) @ Choice Scarf
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

- Stone Edge

Lead with Megamence and Koko and let them do their thing most of the time.
Ice/water types or anything with ice beam/blizzard as leads? Switch salamence out for Primarina and let her deal with them.
Either one of the first two faint? Throw in the wolf and spam no guard rock slides for decent damage and flinch hax.

I really love Mega Scizor in Battle Tree. It basically autowins against a bunch of stuff because HP Fire isn't a thing and it's so bulky. I wonder what I should run with it though. I was using Kommo-o and Primarina, but it had a speed issue and ended up losing after a streak of 61.

So I'm gonna be using Shiinotic + Corsola since they cover each other perfectly aside from Steel (and not having any resistances/weaknesses to Bug, Psychic, Steel, Rock, and Ghost). It's a really cool team that puts in a lot of work. I'll try to get to 100+ with this team while waiting for Pokebank and my old Maison bros who are currently stuck in Alpha Sapphire. Before that I'll go for the Doubles tho with two Tapus and two UBs. Let's see how broken these guys really are.

Other than shenanigans like this my set up sweep persain works well. Send out first, make a decision on whether or not the opponent is worth setting up on. If not, parting shot out of there. If yes, boost and dominate.
That didn't hapen this time but I can upload other footage of that if you want.

is megamance better than multi-dragonite?
i'm running aegislash and tapu fini as well so i guess they'd be interchangeable.

i also went with a timid/252Spe fini but in hindsight wouldn't modest/252HP be better?

Timid for max speed. It's more important to go first with her since a lot of enemy mons will be able to one shot her. Timid Specs Lele with Max IV/EV in Special attack still hits like a nuke.

haven't tried focus sash on it myself, though. I didnt bother because I switched it in to tank a physical hit now and then

Fair enough, but for the moment my life orb is being used by Tapu Koko.

It isn't smart enough to know specific mon counters, but definitely goes for typing counters

Really, all you have to do is make your 2nd and 3rd strong against your leads weaknesses
Mono weak teams get punished and lead sweepers can't do as well unless they can brute-force it like M Salamence, but that's it

>>
>>31047849
I suppose I've seen that. I put Kommo-o as my lead spot, seems like I come across an assload of lead mons running Will-o-Wisp, Thunder Wave, Yawn, Charm, basically anything that'll cripple it and force a switch. I run Lum Berry so it doesn't really do anything but it's noticeable.
>>
>>31047584
People who are getting hard countered have shit teams. The team building process should ALWAYS begin like this:
>Pic a strong lead
>Pick something that counters your lead's counters
There, now it doesn't matter if you get "countered". This should be obvious to every player out there.

>>31047848
Dragonite really wants all that power, especially since 80 isn't a very good Speed tier. Also, there's not much that outspeeds +1 Adamant Dragonite but doesn't outspeed +1 Jolly. The only relevant Mon that I can think of is Aerodactyl, but even that one likes to run Scarf on Battle Tree so it outspeed you anyway. Go with Adamant, there's a reason why it's more popular.
>>
>>31047962
I see, thanks. makes sense
>>
>>31047780

Probably because it didn't know Togekiss counters your team. The AI understands basic favourable type matchups but sometimes misses obvious choices because it's checking weird criteria.

Moves is one thing it checks. I run Electric coverage on two mons in one of my teams and suddenly I am getting a fuckton of Ground types. Suddenly my run was easier because I could still hit them for high neutral damage even if they "countered" me, and they were running Ground types over Steel types that actually did cause more of a problem.

This is also another reason M-Salamence is good in the Battle Tree, though people might not realise it - the AI doesn't know what Aerilate does, so it assumes your Normal move is just a Normal move. You'll get lots of Ice, Rock and Steel types - but also WAY less Electric types that can outspeed and paralyse you, which would appear if you used an actual Flying move.

No doubt if you had enough experience you could find out what hard counters your team, then run "coverage" in any unused move slots to trick the AI into not using it. You could use garbage offensive moves you'd never need in practice (like Zap Cannon) and the PC would interpret it as a threat to avoid.

Similarly, Megas that change typing or change the properties of Moves can also expect to have an advantage.

Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
- King's Shield
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword

I like using Leftovers because if I'm dealing with the right opponent, I can spend a couple of turns using KS/SD in shield form to tank some hits and get some HP back.

I haven't tried Lum Berry because I ran Lum DD Dragonite and the battle tree has an item clause. King's Shield won't block any status moves so it does sound like a solid choice.

Sacred Sword was used over Steel STAB because it has better neutral coverage, ignores defense/evasion boosts and lets you hit dark types SE.

This team just lost against a Weaville and a Mega Lopunny in battle 29.

This is the problem with all-sweeper teams.

You steamroll through 29 games, then you're in the 30s and 40s where a single piece of hax or deliberately placed bad match-up throws you off and you lose all momentum.

It's pretty much ideal (and time-efficient) to lead with Megamence and Tapu Lele, but I like to leave tanky fuckers with their own sweeping specialities in the back. I got to 67 with Mimikyu and Reuniclus as my back-up who could shit over enemy sweepers with Boosted Priority and Trick Room, I only got memed by walls.

It also goes that if you let the opponent move more instead of annihilating them off the bat, it puts you at risk of being memed by their bullshit but you can also learn what strats they use, and tailor your movesets more to deal with them.

This guy >>31043881 here again reporting back with my progress. I went to Doubles with two Tapus and two UBs like I said and got 50 victories on my first try. The Alolan legendaries are fucking broken and make everything a piece of cake. Anyway, here's the team. I very much recommend trying it out if you're having trouble: http://pastebin.com/a3gJDVbY

>tfw was about to share a really cool victory with you but "This battle video cannot be made public"
Fuck off Game Freak.

Well, at least check this out:
ZVJW-WWWW-WWW3-JPF6
The enemy AI doesn't understand Misty Terrain AT ALL. I love Tapu Fini. Such a great Pokemon to use in the Battle Tree.

Next stop: Multis with Cynthia. Let's see if the Alolan legendaries can keep up their impressive winning streak. I'm bringing Tapu Fini and Buzzwole with me.

Togekiss has some serious bulk.

Does the game understand Z Conversion that much?
>>
>>31057810
Not really, but if using thunderbolt a lot, I started getting bulky ground types
>>
>>31057810
It most certainly doesn't. You can play around with the enemy AI using stuff like Protean, Z-Conversion and Megas that change typing. The AI most likely tries to beat you with Fighting-types if you lead with Porygon Z so I'd definitely have Shadow Ball as the first move if I was using one.

>>
>>31057801
Try Ice with Ice Beam. You get a good BoltBeam core that way. If they start bringing Ground-types, Ice Beam; if they start bringing Steel and Water-types, then go back to Thunderbolt. Throw Dark Pulse or Psychic on there as a final coverage move (I'd recommend Signal Beam, but it just doesn't have the power; Focus Blast doesn't have the accuracy, but it might still be good against specially defensive Steel-types) and you're good.

No. It was Gourgeist, regular Golem, and mega Sableye. My team was Kartana, Machamp and Primarina. I use smart strike on Gourgeist and as expected, it doesn't knock it out even coming off a life orb adamant STAB move.

It uses trick room of all things. I switch out to Machamp to try and take advantage of the room myself and Gourgeist uses explosion. Machamp tanks it surviving with little under half health. Golem gets sent in and I use protect to get the leftovers recovery and to stall out the trick room as much as possible.

The Golems first fucking move was also explosion. But because I protected it did diddly dick to me. Then the Sableye comes out and I switch out to Primarina and the Sableye mega evolves and fake outs me. Annoying but not broken. That's when the trick room wore off and I moonblast the fucking thing.

I barely even had to do anything the whole fight.

Just won a 50 streak in super double battles. My leads were Tapu Koko and Garchomp along with a gyarados and Tapu Lele. Uh, pretty basic all offensive and yeah pretty good team if you wanna try for the 50 streak, only trainer that gave me some trouble was the one with the eeveelutions.

Unlocked all Super modes only using Ninetales-A (Aurora Veil), Porygon-Z (Thunderbolt Z-Conversion), and filler for any remaining slots. While I haven't attempted Supers yet, I can only assume I'll need to replace my very uncompetitive filler.

What would go nice with Ninetales-A and Porygon-Z? I was thinking Mega Salamence just to brute force things Singles and some other powerful filler for Doubles. I'm open to suggestions.
>>
I just lost a streak at lv 38 because a M-Metagross outsped my M-Salamence with 252 speed EVs, 31 speed IVs and jolly nature. There were no speed changes.

>>
>>31059475
>How the fuck is that possible?
It's not. If you whine, you post the battle video as a proof. Otherwise there's something you forgot. Maybe a previous Pokemon used Tailwind or dropped your Speed when you were not paying attention, or maybe you fucked your Salamence's EV training. Who knows?

I can't believe you actually wrote that.

Anyway, you're damn sure I'm calling you a liar because that's a fact. The game is programmed to work in a certain way. If Pokemon A is faster than Pokemon B, A will go first under normal conditions. This is in the game's code. Now you come here claiming that B went first in that situation and have zero proof to back up your words. Like I said: if you whine, you post proof.
>>
