Its an absolute monster from the point that you get it until about the ass end of the 3rd island. On island 4 it starts to fall off just a bit, but its still very good

Aqua Ring grants it an entirely dumb amount of bulk for the first half of the game.

AR + Tearful Look makes it an all purpose tank forth first half or so of the game.

You find the Scald TM in the same area you can find him.

140 base offensive stats.

Trivialises an unreasonable number of the challenges.

Is both fucking adorable and terrifying.

Sitrus Berries are almost made for it, the confusion causing Berries are god sent for it.

Bro tier pokemon.

In game yes, in final island and elite 4 you kinda have to keep him supplied with Max Potions and such though.

Just slap leftover and give him aqua ring
