In some of the same ways I miss old animation in general, I suppose.

It does though. DP and BW and problems with it being bright and shiny because it was when they began using digital animation. XY and SM doesn't suffer even close to the same as DP or BW. XY for having a higher budget and much better use of the current artstyle while SM has a completely new artstyle that is pretty shitty in my opinion but still gives them access to a more fluid and expressive animation and is certainly not "shiny or bright".

No, I hate those thin eyes it makes them look too far apart. But I pick those eyes over those eyes without sclera any day.

However, in general I think the old style is better.

I missed that Ash already, I hope he improves during SM, after all the writers should have noticed that the anime was slightly more successful when Ash appears as a good trainer. Maybe he will start too change by the next season since the first was already written at that point

I miss it. The new style is too clean and sterilized looking. I have the same problem with Dragon Ball.

When the switched to digital, it's like the show lost that "charm" it had. You get what I mean? Like I always find myself replaying the OS episodes, not the Hoenn or DP ones. And I didn't grow up with OS. DP was my first.

While we're talking about animation changes, I noticed that they changed the style a little bit during late DP. It was different from the style they used from late Johto to DP but it wasn't the full bright change like it was during BW.

It was. But they've starting to bring those back now, since the west isn't really treating the anime as the major advertisement tool it used to.
