No video codes yet but is anyone else having issues with ConfuseRay/Curse/Moonlight/Payback/Leftovers Umbreon?

Lost count of how often the fucker has knocked me out.

>>31009915
Umbreon gives me fucking Aneurysms every time I see one
I'm already having fucking PTSD from the many times I've had to deal with their bullshit
It's my fault for never bringing any Taunt users

Sitting comfortably at 63 win streaks so far, Ash-Greninja doesn't disappoint. Although Mimikyu has been putting in most work. Megamence is really just there in case of Megas, it hasn't done much.

The only way that turtle faggot could've outsped my Primarina is if it was Jolly with 252 Speed. Even then I ran a damage calc and it could not have OHKO'd my Primarina while being Jolly nature. I'm still maximum pissed about this since I was on battle 43.

>lead with Hydreigon in singles
>literally half of the times are mono ice
And yes, I actually mean LITERALLY
All the game is doing is making my Skarmory stall more painful for the both of us

At the very least, I'm thankful the AI hasn't thought to use mono fairy instead
>>

I so desperately wish I could see if it was Jolly Scarfchomp or Megachomp before it takes any action
The former is a genuine rapemachine, and the latter gets 1-shot by me

>>
Need opinions and ideas.

I need a quicker way to reset evs other than waiting 48 hours for some stupid fucking berries to grow and then having to do it again to fully reset evs. Is the fucking QR team thing running yet, or is there a tool yet to create QR codes for that?

Also, I need opinions on the best moves for a Golisopod, Kartana, Mimikyu team. I need something to replace Struggle Bug for Golisopod, and best possible physical moves for Kartana (and possibly a better ev spread). I've gotten farther than I've used to with this team (a streak of 5 on normal, boy oh boy), but I think i still need these fucking ev's. It's just such a bitch getting them up to level 50 while also ensuring they don't fuck up the EVs.
>>
>>31012984
>ever even running Struggle Bug Golisopod
Jesus, dude
First Impression, and then some combo of AquaJet/SuckerPunch/Liquidation/LeechLife
Ass Vest is the most common hold item
>>
>>31012922
>turn on my game to start playing some more
>first match is another fucking mono ice
I don't ever want to hear lies that the AI doesn't counterpick teams
>>
>>31012917
So you don't get shat on by Twave, which is probably what the AI will throw at you in spades. Prevents the pain of being immobilized 3 times in a row while the opponent sets up double teams
>>
>>31013015
why do you think i said i wanted to get rid of Struggle Bug

also should i still go for First Impression even if it's not very effective?

and i always seem to get fucked whenever i use sucker punch because that's always the turn when they stop attacking to use a status move
>>
>>31013161
That's an accepted fact at this point.

I think the current debate now is whether or not the AI reads your inputs before a turn.
>>
>>31013204
>>31013204
What? No. How is that a question.
Go for the best move.

Do not run Sucker Punch. Run Aqua Jet.
A decent Golio set is

First Impression
Liquidate
Shadow Claw
Aqua

Shadow Claw so you don't get shat on by Jellicent and it's just good coverage.
>>
>>31013300
So, about Aqua Jet, I don't think the Golisopod I have ever got it as an egg move. Is there a backup for that so I don't need to grind to level 50 again?
>>
Need a good moveset for Mimikyu. Right now I have:

Shadow Sneak (for priority)
Shadow Claw (might replace)
Swords Dance (for the free setup turn)
Play Rough (high-power fairy move for coverage)

Also, what item should I give it?
>>
for Arcanine:

do i go for jolly or adamant? also what item?
>>

>>31013560
Max Atk and HP. If you want, you can run enough speed to outpace something like T-Tar but speed is hardly worth it when you're packing two priority moves.

regenerator is amazing, it lets you use toxapex as a switch-in tank, then you can swap it out to heal it if needed. its special attack is pretty low, so merciless crits aren't going to be very good.

you want either calm or bold, with scald, toxic, recover, and the last one is up to you (haze for stat reset, protect/baneful bunker for stalling, ice beam for dragons)

black sludge is important for recovery, but leftovers will do in a pinch
>>
>>31018664
does the AI even use trick? or why's black sludge so important
>>
>The opposing Dugtrio used Fissure!
>It's a one-hit KO!

There goes my 41-win streak. Dugtrio was in the red, and Tapu Koko was my last mon. It would've been able to survive an Earthquake since Aurora Veil was up, but this kind of pisses me off.

You can do something against flinchhax and evasion, but there's really very little you can do against this 100% OHKO rate. This thing might keep my attention for longer if this kind of thing wouldn't show up.
>>
>>31019103
It's rare, but the AI does use trick sometimes. Black sludge also allows you to use leftovers on something else.
>>
>>31019103
I've never seen the AI use trick but I have seen it use steal. Ambipom will use fake out, make you flinch, use fling with its king's rock, make you flinch again, then use thief to steal your item. It's a really annoying set, but it's always funny when it steals the black sludge.

>Mimikyu has to setup and get hit by a brave bird so I can KO and hopefully outspeed the last pokemon
>it's M-Aerodactyl

Is M-Aerodactyl better than M-Salamence for Super singles? Obviously M-Salamence is stronger but I feel like speed is necessary and M-Aerodactyl has better physical coverage even if its STABs are shit

I can't believe that cancerous Gengar bled over from the Battle Maison. That Sash Gear with Hypnosis Dream Eater Shadow Ball and Sludge Wave. I just got off my game to come post my anger in here. I just got to battle 49 in super singles and had an unfeazant avoid thunderbolt three fucking times in a row. I would have obviously won, it was against my Tapu Koko but noooo 3 fucking evasions for literally no good reason. It wasn't even using bright powder?

Fucking cucked out of my 50 streak by a motherfucking unfeazant, that's low.

Anyway my team:
Nihilego
Timid @ Focus Sash
Power Gem
Thunderbolt
HP ice
Sludge Wave

No stealth rocks because honestly I've found they have little impact.

Buzzwole
Adamant @ leftovers
252 HP, 4 ATK, 252 SPDEF,
Power Up Punch (fucking amazing shit)
Poison Jab
Leech Life
Rock Throw

Tapu Koko
Timid @ Expert Belt
Thunderbolt
Grass Knot
Dazzling Gleam
Natures Maddness

I put in natures madness because it's either that or weak HP ice that Nihilego's already got going for it. Good for cutting down bulky opponents before KO too. I suppose toxic can be pretty useful in that slot too.

I honestly only use Koko to stop the fucking hypnosis/snore/thunder wave bullshit - especially when that thunderwave belongs to togekiss which has been the biggest threat I have found in the entire 2044930293 battles I've had in there.

>>
>>31021255
Analytic is pretty mediocre against AI since Starmie is already pretty fast and the only way you're getting the damage boost is if the opponent switches out which doesn't happen a lot. The Tree likes to use status against you so I think Natural Cure would be better for an offensive set
>>
>>31017266
Moveset on Lele? Also, Jolly mance or adamant?

>>
>>31021203
I agree with the laughable rock throw, it's more of a tester I was using and it ended up working really well. I will probably swap back to earthquake tho.

I was using assault vest and he just did so much worse, maybe it was the specific opponents but leftovers has been working out so much better because I usually switch in on something physical or bulky (garchomp, lucario, scizor, avalugg, tauros, blissey) and rampage with power up punch. Assault vest does absolutely nothing here, and after PUPing leech life carries through the damage of specials.

Honestly, there are more bulky/physical threats in battle tree than there are special, or at least the special threats are dealt with already by Nihilego or Koko.

I've yet to face anything that hard counters my team:

Blizzard
Freeze-Dry
Moonblast

Mudsdale w/Ground-Z

Earthquake
Rock Tomb
Heavy Slam
Counter

Tapu Koko w/Electric Seed and maxed ATK

Wild Charge
Brave Bird
U-Turn
Roost

At worst I've met bulky recovery users that I can't overpower, but I can PP stall them to death thanks to Aurora Veil and Roost. For very strong and fast sweepers, Mudsdale can usually either Counter them to death or reduce their speed with Rock Tomb so I can revenge kill them.

I currently don't have much in SM and I can't inject either so currently I'm just fucking around with the few Pokemon that I have and experimenting with new strategies. Gonna have to wait for Pokebank to get my old Maison bros maybe break my old streaks there (~160 victories in Singles, ~240 victories in Doubles).

Anyway, I want to talk a bit about Tapu Koko, because that thing is a monster. If you want to get quick Battle Points, try out this set:

Tapu Koko @ Choice Specs
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Grass Knot
- Volt Switch

Even with a mediocre team that has horrible synergy, I can reliably get to 40+ just with the raw power of Tapu Koko alone. This boy outspeeds almost the entire game and its Thunderbolt flat out OHKOs many offensive Pokemon with mediocre bulk and 2HKOs literally anything bulkier that takes neutral damage from it. Just like how M-Kangaskhan was the go-to Pokemon in Gen VI for quick and easy Battle Points, I think Tapu Koko does the same thing in Gen VII. Now I'm just trying to think of a proper team to support this guy.

Tapu Koko's main problems are Ground-types, opposing Electric-types, bulky Grass-types and Steel-types, so I was thinking that Ferrothorn would be a great teammate for it. Another good partner would be Landorus-T with Flyinium Z, but I have to wait for Pokebank to get these Mons into SM. What would be good third Pokemon for these teams? (Koko/Ferrothorn/???, Koko/Landorus/???)

>>
>>31023873
I can't believe you got 50 victories with that team. Kartana with neutral nature, Pelipper with a bunch of horribly inaccurate moves, practically nothing to benefit from the rain other than Pelipper itself, and finally two Pokemon with a double weakness to Ice but no switch-ins for said type. Sure, you made it to 50, but the team isn't very good and I'm sure you realize that.
>>
>>31023300

I think for nearly every battle from 40+ onwards the AI would lead with a Rock or Ice type against my Salamence. Nearly every single lead they used could survive its Double Edge, or hit it for SE.

I saw Glalie about 4 times in a span of 7 games.

Also you know Veterans and Youngsters? They use pretty much all sub-legendaries in the game - of course, you'd be forgiven for not knowing this because apparently all they ever use is Regice, Cobalion, M-Latios. This seemingly random assortment of legendaries either resist or hit dragons for SE damage, it's a really interesting coincidence.

People always meme about busted RNG and confirmation bias, because simply put they are armchair theorising and don't actually play Battle Tree enough to understand that being paralysed 8 times in a row is not a very common situation.

But the "team is designed to counter yours" thing absolutely happens, you will never even SEE 33% of the available Battle Tree pokemon if they are countered by your team.
>>
>>31023953
Yeah, I know its total shit but somehow this team has given me the most success. I've even literally copypasted other successful teams, but always got fucked over somehow. Also, I was one of those retards who caught all the UBs befor realizing I could've gotten Abras and Synchronized for decent Natures. Believe it or not, that was the best Kartana of the 4.

Basically what tends to happen with my current team is this:

Kartana and Pelipper lead, Drizzle activates and weakens Fire attacks while boosting Hydro Pump and making sure Hurricane never misses. I fully invested in Pelipper's HP and went half/half with the remainder on Def/SpDef. Focus Sash works as a fallback measure in case Kartana would've gotten OHKO'd anyway (unlikely from most Physical Attacks). Pelipper actually hits pretty hard and tends to stay on the field a good while. Rock types weren't too much of a threat with Kartana there and the general low-accuracy of Rock-type moves. The Electric-types I encountered would easily be cleaned up by Garchomp.

Blizzard is there in case an opponent changes the weather to Hail. Rarely used it, but it worked when it needed to somehow. Soak would be there if the opponent sends something bulky that Hydro Pump or Hurricane couldn't do much against as Kartana's Leaf Blade would then be super effective. Kartana normally takes out at least 3 mons before it goes down too. Sometimes I go full matches without losing either lead.

Most Ice-types I encountered were leads as a result of the CPU's response to Garchomp and Salamence being on the field at the same time in the previous match so they're easy pickings for Kartana.

Mega Salamence there to deal with other megas and Garchomp's Z-Move helps me take out hard-to-kill stuff without endangering my Kartana should those two end up on the field at the same time.
>>
>get 5 kills in Battle Royale even though it used all my pokemon because the AI collectively refuses to do anything but protect or target me
>I "lost" but the guy with 2 kills and one pokemon wins

So Battle Royale is a mode where being a passive bitch wins even though you have less kills and more deaths than other players?

Did Gamefreak actually think this mode through?
Did Justin Trudeau design this mode?

I mean it completely fails the first test of any children's game - being intuitive. I predicted protects and exploited windows as much as I could but it didn't matter because the sheer act of doing anything makes you the loser.

Just spam protect and steal kills to win, the biggest coward wins and whoever breaks the ice and actually does anything gets buttfucked. Rewards bad play, punishes aggression, doesn't make any sense and is boring as fuck.

How is something this fucking terrible a finished, released mode?
>>
>>31024369
I'm assuming you don't have PKHeX because you would have used it already, but if you're not against injecting I suggest that you find one of those injecting threads and ask for a proper Kartana. Those threads are regularly visited by a couple of injectors who give Pokemon for free to people who provide them with QR codes for generating them. That's how I got two of my three Tapus too. I think injecting legendaries is perfectly fine since trying to get perfect legit ones is very difficult and time consuming and you're going to be battling perfect legendaries in the Battle Tree anyway.

Finally got a streak of 50, it took a bit of trial and error but got it.

I decided to go with Tapunium Z on Koko because occasionally he wouldn't quite pump out enough damage on a few things. It worked incredibly well. I also swapped Rock Throw for Earthquake on Buzzwole. DESU EQ was a very minor change, it helped boost damage a bit but overall it was Koko's change that made it all possible.
>>
>>31024569
Forgot to also mention that on this run I encountered a quick claw explosion bronzong that nearly fucked me over. What are the chances that quick claw just happens to fucking work when they decide to use explosion after 5 turns (with at least 2 procs in those 5 already?).

I'm sure it can work, but you're fated to run into something that will throw a wrench in your plan, a pokemon throwing status in general, taunters, mons that outspeed you or are generally annoying as fuck (like the scarfed rockslide only aerodactyl), if your team can't handle getting disrupted I say think about a different startegy but if you have enough foresight and all of your members can carry their weight regardless, I say go for it

I guess I should drop Roost on Koko for some more coverage. I had it running Dazzling Gleam/Thunder Bolt/Taunt/Roost.

I've been thinking of breeding a Mimikyu too. What's the best set? I've been thinking something like this:

Mimikyu @ Life Orb / Lum Berry / Red Card / Focus Sash
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak
- Swords Dance

What's the best item for it? Is Red Card just a gimmick or does it actually work? Also, I'm not a fan of inaccurate moves (in this case, Play Rough), so are there any viable alternatives? I really wish it learned Brick Break for that perfect Ghost/Fighting coverage. Share your opinions and experiences.

>>31026409
>I had it running Dazzling Gleam/Thunder Bolt/Taunt/Roost
Thunderbolt / Dazzling Gleam / Grass Knot / Volt Switch is the best set in my opinion. If you really hate Grass-types (Tapu Koko has trouble with those) I guess you could run a mixed set with Brave Bird instead of Volt Switch, but it's better to have a teammate that deals with Grass-types.
>>
Are megas banned in battle tree?
>>
>>31026646
No. The opponents use Megas too.
>>
>>31026605
I havent been having any trouble with Grass Types since I use mixed Mega Mence running Fire Miss I was absolutely SICK of Hypnosis+Dream Eater Gengar though so I put Taunt on it so I would never have to see the fucker.
>>
>>31025718
who did you use with mimikyu? Everytime I use Mine it gets fucked over by Status (even with a lum berry) or some stupid shit like play rough missing
>>
>>31015865
What natures anon?
>>
>>31026655
You don't need Taunt for Gengar. Specs Tapu Koko fucking OHKO's Gengar with Thunderbolt.
>>
>>31026605
>>31026679
I used play rough/shadow claw/swords dance/sub with life orb. Honestly, he's got a really bad case of 4MSS. He's not quite fast enough to go without shadow sneak, it's hard to ditch shadow claw when you need it to crack things that resist play rough and substitute is godly to stop status and build up safe swords dances
>>
>>31026725
Yeah but now I never have to see it and I have Taunt for other obvious setups/status spreaders.
>>
Why does the tree have such an obsession with random rotom forms? Those bastards need to all go away and stay away

>>31026646
Nah...and neither are Z-moves
>>
>>31026738
>sub

Interesting, I actually like that.

but without Shadow sneak how do you deal with faster mons like rock slide aerodactyl or Mega Sableeye?
>>
>>31026829
I got lucky, I guess. A lot of the mons I fought on the way to 50 wins were slow as shit.
But I don't see mimikyu beating aero anyway, unless you've already built up some swords dances. And wouldn't sableye die to play rough?
>>
>>31026879
Mines didn't
that last run is why I stopped using mimikyu. Boosed +4 sword dance did fuck all to it, and it proceeded to stall my team out with foul play spamming bullshit.

- Roost

Ninetales (Alola) @ Focus Sash
Snow Warning
Timid, 4 HP, 252 SpAtk, 252 Speed
- Blizzard
- Moonblast

Mimikyu & Kartana is almost a staple on these threads.
I got myself a 80 streak with them and salazzle recently, losed because I didn't use shadow sneak on a scarfed eruption typhlosion.
Mimikyu is a fucking beast in the battle tree, give him some status protection and he can sweep teams alone.
>>
>>31030537

>>
>>31030537

>Kartana
Good, I've got a pretty good one that works pretty well in Singles.

Kartana@Muscle Band
Adamant, 4HP, 252 ATK, 252 Speed
-Leaf Blade
-Night Slash
-Sacred Sword
-Smart Strike

I tend to use a mix of the following alongside it; what would be the best combinations?

Buzzwole@Leftovers
Careful, 252HP, 4def, 252SpDef
-Roost
-Bulk Up
-Lunge
-Poison Jab

And one of the following:

Nihilego@Focus Sash
Timid, 252 SpAtk, 4 HP, 252 Speed
-Power Gem
-Stealth Rock
-Toxic Spikes
-Sludge Wave

Xurkitree@Zap Plate
Modest, 252 Speed, 252 Sp.Atk, 4 Sp.Def
-Tail Glow
-Energy Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Volt Switch

Hydreigon@Dragonium Z
Rash, 252 Sp.Atk, 4 Def, 252 Speed
-Dragon Pulse
-Draco Meteor
-Dark Pulse
-Flash Cannon

Celesteela@Shell Bell (intend to swap for leftovers eventually)
Rash, 252 HP, 252 SpDef, 4 Speed
-Air Slash
-Leech Seed
-Heavy Slam
-Flamethrower

Salamence@Salamencite
Intimidate->Aerialate (sic)
Sassy, 252 Speed, 252 Atk, 4SpAtk
-Flamethrower
-Dragon Claw
-Scary Face
-Double-Edge

I know, I should breed it to get Dragon Dance on there but I haven't got the chance to do so. Any other good picks that would work well with Kartana? That 4x weakness to Fire is definitely something to be addressed.

>>31031028

Why not Life Orb?
You get a free one, and Kartana's fragile enough for 10% to not matter when being attacked.
>>
>>31031789
Is the boost even that big compared to the muscle band? As far as I can tell, it's a fairly steep downside compared to the risk-free nature of the muscle band. Espeically since it has just enough defense to survive a couple of hits, which means that extra HP does end up counting for something.
>>
>>31031839
Muscle Band is a 10% boost, Life Orb is a 30% boost.
I guess it's up to you to decide if that's substantial enough.
>>
I wonder if there's a way to use the Tree's "counter teams" to your advantage.

When I lead with Pheromosa, I see the same goddamn Froslass every other battle. It's immune to my Focus Blast/Fightinium and resists Bug Buzz and Ice Beam, so I guess the game sees it as a counter when in reality I just Quiver Dance and shit all over it even with resists. The game sends the fucker at me constantly and it's a free QD/Beast Boost every time.
>>
>>31031839
LO lets you OHKO pretty much everything after one Beast Boost, and you'll definitely want to OHKO and skip the bullshit
>>
>>31031932
i'm terrified of scarfchomp so i never let my sweeper out of the house without a focus sash
>>
>>31031932
Yes, but I expect the fire and fighting types to start showing enough to make the HP loss not worth it. Plus, it OHKOs most things just fine without the LO.

More importantly, which of the Pokemon I listed make its best partners?
>>
>>31032100
You'll want something to switch moves that would be SE against Kartana into, so MegaMence would be good.
Kartana and MegaMence are on most people's teams anyway, the third one is practically a free pick of whatever you like.
>>
>>31032100
That's when you switch to your fire/fighting counter. For me that's mega Salamence, who is one of Kartana's best partners besides Lele.

I'm currently using a defensive Sub/Roost/DD set on mine and it shits on almost all of Kartana's counters
