I think Hau could've been such an interesting rival if the "kahuna's grandson" angle was pushed more.
He could've used a monotype team of his starter's type. Whenever he battles you, he'd explain the coverage moves and resistance items he picks to compensate, and he'd tease you for not taking that self-imposed challenge.
