Dunkleosteus mon or fossil mon when?

"This mechanism allowed D. terrelli to both achieve a high speed of jaw opening, opening their jaws in 20 milliseconds and completing the whole process in 50–60 milliseconds, comparable to modern fishes that use suction feeding to assist in prey capture and produce high bite forces when closing the jaw, estimated at 6,000 N (1,350 lbf) at the tip and 7,400 N (1,660 lbf) at the blade edge in the largest individuals."

Make it physically bulky with high physical attack. Then give strong jaw and a priority bite move.

That bump at the base of its neck is apparently a false head, used as a decoy against predators. As a pokémon, it could have an evolved form with two real heads.

>>

Scolipede line is kinda both. They have the antennae and raised rear legs at every stage, but venipede is really short for a scolipede, and whirlipede is curled up like a millipede (centipedes don't do that). The whole thing is based on the scolopendra genus of centipedes as well, so it's kind of a mix.

Thresher_shark.jpg
14KB, 560x237px
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_thresher
>There are numerous accounts of common threshers using the long upper lobes of their tail fins to stun prey, and they are often snagged on longlines by their tails after presumably striking at the bait. In July 1914, shark-watcher Russell J. Coles reported seeing a thresher shark use its tail to flip prey fish into its mouth, and that one fish that missed was thrown a "considerable distance". On April 14, 1923, noted oceanographer W.E. Allen observed a 2 m (6.6 ft) thresher shark pursuing a California smelt (Atherinopsis californiensis) off a pier at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The shark overtook the small fish and swung its tail above the water like a "coachwhip" with "confusing speed", severely injuring its target. In the winter of 1865, Irish ichthyologist Harry Blake-Knox claimed to have seen a thresher shark in Dublin Bay use its tail to strike a wounded loon (probably a great northern diver, Gavia immer), which it then swallowed.
>Famed big-game angler Frank Mundus, in his book Sportsfishing for Sharks, recounted a tale in which a longline fisherman off the Carolinas leaned over the side of his boat to examine something large that he had hooked, and was decapitated by the caudal fin of a thresher shark estimated to be 5 m (16 ft) long. The head supposedly fell into the water and was never recovered. This account is considered highly improbable by most authors.

really, the only thing remotely kangaroo about Kangaskhan is the pouch. Maybe the propensity for punching moves as a "boxing kangaroo" thing, I guess? But aesthetically, there is nothing kangaroo about it other than pouch. Which Chansey also has.

Siphonophores, organisms formed out of many individuals each with its own function as part of the larger colony, some do digestions, some moving, some reproduction, etc.

I'm not sure how to feel about the fact that the first mosquito and cockroach in the games are pretty much meant to be ironic reversals, even though I like the designs themselves.

Nobody expected our first tiger pokemon to be a heel, and I'm sure nobody expected our wolf to be Rock, so how about a water/dark dolphin? We have a few water/dark already, but knowing what I know about dolphins, they deserve it.

It's because there aren't any deep sea areas. The closest we got was diving in Hoenn, which, uncoincidentally, is where all these mons are found.

Topsy-Turvy is a move, not an ability, so the upside-downphin could have that and Contrary at the same time.

pyrosome.jpg

The pyrosome, a sixty foot long worm like creature that inhabits the oceans of the southern hemisphere.

Sertex (serpent and vortex)
>Pure flying type, does not evolve
>32 ft 11 inches, 0.7 pounds
>Ability: Cloud Nine
>"This pokemon has no control over where it goes. It drifts on air currents and travels through the atmosphere."
>"If a plane starts to suddenly crash, chances are a Sertex got sucked into the turbine."
>70 HP/30 ATK/50 DEF/110 SPATK/50 SPD/140 SPE
>Soaring returns as a game mechanic, Sertex can be encountered here

Competitively, it would have a nice movepool, among it's moves being Quiver Dance, Hurricane, Whirlwind, Air Slash, Air Cutter, Aurora Beam, Clear Smog, Defog, and Weather Ball. Due to its paper thin defenses, the main strategy would be to get a quiver dance up, focus sash it out, and sweep.
