in german they dont have saur in the names they are called Bisasam Bisaknosp and Bisaflor basically means Bisa seeds Bisa bud and Bisaflor idk

English names are worthless for determining what a Pokemon is based on, especially in Gen 1 & 2.

They're monsters with mostly amphibious traits. There aren't really any dinosaurs that they resemble more than they resemble toads.

Venusaur line always reminded me of Dycinodonts, with Venusaur being a Kannemeyeriidae, which were sinapsyds (ancestors of mammals pretty much).
