Depends. The technical features of it are very impressive for a gen 2 hack. There's abilities, physical/special split, new items, new moves, a move smoother framerate, etc.
But the actual design of the overworld and the over-reliance on maze-like dungeons with high encounter rates might be kind of terrible, depending on your taste in rpgs.

From personal experience, at least the wild encounter gameshark code works. Most of the codes probably work, but the id values for items/pokemon might have been reordered so it's possible you'd have to manually find Metal Coat's id.

I just kept them in the same order they're entered in the game's code--all Gen I and II pokemon are kept in their original positions, but the III and IV mons replaced those not present--so quite a few are separated from their relatives.
I think the only evolutions not present are Munchlax and Dusknoir.

Well, once I did that, it still showed it at midnight, was supposed to be 1:23 or so. The date also shows January 22 2000.

Don't have a guide, but I did it in maybe an hour? And most of that was backtracking to the oasis at the entrance to heal.

Note that the entire dark bottom floor is insignificant because all the stairs lead to the same place.

Got it at Mining Level 6 along with a ton of fossils. Best strategy to make back your cash from this thing seems to be just reloading save states over and over again unless you get evolution stones, fossils or ore.

This anon here. I couldn't salvage my save but I was able to use PKHex to import all my bros into a fresh save, as well as change my TID to match my old one. So if this happens to anyone else, your game progress is fucked but you can at least import all your Pokémon to a new save.
On that note, PKHex does work for editing your trainer info and money. Doesn't seem to work for editing your bag, though.

Also, for anyone trying to get Weavile: wild Sneasel can carry Razor Claws. Just found that out
