I alleviated that by using Nebby for post-game busywork like catching Pokemon and grinding for evolutions and for some of my E4 rematches. At that point I don't care about maintaining some "pure" experience by avoiding using powerful handouts.

Shame, you get some extra dialogue from Kukui before the league and an added seen from Tapu Koko if you use Nebby. Plus you have to let Nebby screw in order to get the second cosmog.
