I think it has to do with the fact that in brown, there was a single grass tile there(which is unusual since it's a town) If you pass many times over that tile, which is not something that occur to many people, you get a battle, and there are rare pokemon there(early hitmon i think). But now the guy planted a tree there, so no more rare pokemon for you :^)

It's just small things like the whole thing with Lance that was supposed to be done sometime after the game's release, trading+battling being fixed to allow you to see your opponent's avatar, and implementing that small feature where your Pokemon followed you (all sprites were done) weren't implemented in the game yet.

My only complaints with the game so far are gift Pokémon and reliance on HMs/specific Pokémon being needed for things.
I don't like feeling obligated to have a Pokémon on my team, and I end up feeling bad about boxing them. When you first find the Orphanage they even rub this in.
I know forced gift Pokémon are common in the main series but I've already gotten the Larvitar from the start, Cyndaquil and a Totodile. Only using Cyndaquil as a Cut user right now.
The latter is probably one of the few things I think SM did well, considering rentals are essentially key items, something similar would've worked fine in Prism.
Other than that I'm enjoying it quite a bit, the Sinnoh music compelled me to find some Sinnoh Pokémon on my team. Using Bronzor in the Mystery Dungeon-esque sequence was also really neat.

Forgive the shitty names, I've never been good at that.
