I think it was a condition to get the TPP dev team to port Prism to Crystal from Gold and help finish Prism with KBM, as he couldn't finish it on his own without taking years.

The file you care about inside is a .gbc file, which runs in your emulator. If you're seriously concerned, virus scan it. I doubt there's anything interesting that someone can do to your computer with it.

There was an obscure way to use .NES music files to exploit like one fucking version of stock Ubuntu but that's pretty damn difficult.

You can fault him for fucking it up in the first place by pushing the release back. It was supposed to drop as soon as TPP finished it, but then he said, "fuck it, I don't want my baby overshadowed by Sun and Moon, so I'll push it back to Christmas." Because of this, three months of hype happened and it ended up on Nintendo's radar. If he had just fucking released in in October like he was goddamn supposed to we wouldn't have this problem.
