Last shiny I got was a few days ago. I was chaining for a HA Yungoos, got a Shiny Adamant one with Stakeout.

Currently 150 chains in for a Shiny Magikarp.

What are the exact odds for SOS? Trying for a shiny Skarmory. It also seems like reinforcements get less common as the battle goes on, am I right or wrong on that?

The odds of a shiny get higher the longer the SOS chain goes on, just like the odds of it having a HA. Using something with Pressure or Unnerve makes it more likely to call for help, so does using an Adrenaline orb.

I think you can get 1 rare candy a day from the cafes by feeding your mons beans in refresh, not exactly sure how it works though. And there's the battle tree of course, rare candies go for 48 BP.

Ask everyone what facility you can buy from them and be lucky. I think your festival plaza has to be level 30 to get the buffet or dinner (or both), but the amount of FC you'll need to buy them will get you there. Each one will cost 2250 FC I think.

Then buying the stuff from the Rare Kitchens will cost you 800 FC.

Yes. I used a Sylveon that knew Baby Doll Eyes (for wasting turns), Swift, Fairy Wind, and Moonblast. He was at level 50. I also had an Absol (he knew False Swipe) and a Hypno (to put the shiny to sleep should one show up).
I started the fight with Sylveon in the lead, switch to Absol, used False Swipe, back to Sylveon, and then dropped the Adrenaline Orb. I wanted Absol on the field for as short of a time as possible. The shiny female Salandit showed up while Sylveon was on the field.

It does. Got 3 shinies this past weekend.
The thing is that it can take you a while to get a shiny, but it's WAY much quicker because of the Magikarp eggs. Longest I had to do was 3 boxes.

Does your number of total encounters have any affect on your shiny rate? I was hunting a Stufful for hours, only to run into a shiny Salandit on the first encounter, the same spawn area (Route 8).
I assumed it was the same odds with every non-chain encounter.

Your shiny is predetermined upon the encounter. The encounter begins, with a shiny charm the game rolls 3 times to get a shiny and if the first roll is shiny it will not re roll twice, so on. It didn't carry over from Stufful

Every 30 eggs you pull the parents out to halt the chain and check if any shinies were found, although I just keep going until I find one. By doing so you're starting a new chain and starting the process over to refresh likelihood that one shiny shows up. I'll post the guide since it's just easier.

It can definitely be a bitch when it feels like it. I'm approaching 1,400 eggs and this isn't even the longest hunt I've had. I've MM'd for a Growlithe that took me like 2,200 eggs, and at the same time, I've also had a pentaperfect shiny Weedle magically appear to me within 37 eggs, so anything is possible.

Was chaining magikarp for HA and was definitely under 30 and ran into a shiny one. Tough decision, but I broke the chain. Tough because I was getting bored of it fast.

Same for me, the random came during my playthrough, so before the charm, and the SOS chained one, I decided to try for the hell of it after getting my charm. But now either Masuda has decided that he hates me, or my game contains an extremely rare glitch where Shiny Rowlet simply doesn't exist within the game's programming :^)

Whats the best way of chaining a pokemon that can put you to sleep? I dont think any sleep resistant pokemon can use false swipe, can they?

Quick look on bulbapedia gives this:
Pokémon with the Insomnia or Vital Spirit Abilities cannot be put to sleep. Pokémon with Leaf Guard will be protected from status conditions in harsh sunlight. Pokémon with Sweet Veil and their allies cannot be put to sleep. Pokémon with the Comatose Ability will act like they are asleep, without actually being asleep, and the Ability prevents them from being put to sleep.
Pokémon with Early Bird will be asleep half the usual amount of turns, possibly causing them to immediately wake up.
While Electric Terrain or Misty Terrain is present, grounded Pokémon cannot fall asleep (including self-inflicted sleep from Rest). No Pokémon can sleep while a Pokémon is using the move Uproar

This fuck needs to reach level 79, consume the +7 and +9 Rare Kitchen meals, consume 5 Rare Candies (which require Pickup to obtain), and then consume 2 Bottle Caps. Seems worth it to me, though, considering how based Blue Pory2 is.

How effective is Adrenaline Orb + Unnerve/Intimidate/Pressure? Could one make progress in chaining a Dhelmise (or another low call ratemon) that way, or not really?

MM, 2 very different types of chaining (Poke Radar in XY and Fishing), Hordes, Friend Safari in XY and DexNav in ORAS (not a form of chaining). That's 5 methods in XY and 4 in ORAS, 6 overall.

I swear it's a 1% chance to get one of the fuckers to show up. I got lucky and got Goomy relatively quickly. Politoed took forever to find. I figured I could find another for GTS trading but I gave up on that when I found a shiny Poliwag before the second Politoed.

Shiny Snorunt guy here. I got the Vanillite a short time later, and I finally got my Politoed a few minutes earlier. It does feel like 1%, but at least they also have a low chance of being shiny. Imagine racing against the clock for a shiny Politoed when it used Perish Song.
