Found a shiny Entei in Silver when I was 8 and my dad yelled at me to get out of the car to go to the zoo and throw my gameboy in the back of the car. The cartridge popped out.

When the Pokémon Showcase Master Class episodes finally ended and it became clear that Swanna Girl wasn't going to come back, that she was never going to get the happy ending she's been longing for since Day 1. I literally cried for her when it hit me that her story ended with her as nothing more than a failure.

I had a copy of pokemon Red with almost the entire pokedex completed. I distinctly remember the two I was missing : charmeleon and tauros.
I was playing a lot of pokemon stadium at the time. One day, the plastic adapter didn't work, it couldn't read my save. No amount of blowing into it fixed it. Turns out, it didn't work on my gameboy anymore either.

I have no idea how much time I spent on that game, but it was a lot. That was by far the lowest point of my childhood.

This gen did, actually. Not because Lillie left, per se, but the whole "these will always be my most precious memories" thing made me sad. Likely, this will be the most intense thing that ever happens to Lillie and arguably Hau and they'll have to grow up and be boring adults and live in the boring adult world and eventually they'll mostly forget the one time in their lives they truly felt alive.

The credits sequence when I beat Pokemon Gold fucked me up. Nothing about the sequence itself (it's just Pokemon dancing to cutesy music) but something about the game had such a sense of finality it threw me for a loop.

Ditto FRLG's credits. The nostalgia overload was fucking brutal.


Other than that, only time I've been fucked up is the lady being carried by Machamp in the graveyard by SM. I had an immediate family member pass away earlier this year and it was essentially my first funeral; so playing Sun I was 'triggered' by the fact they're so laisse-faire about the Graveyard as a place to have Pokemon battles in all these games. Then I came back and had that encounter without any heads up. It was thoughtful.
