Same here. I started with gen 2, then went to gen 1, and by then gen 3 had come out and I got that somehow. Gen 3 was such a breath of fresh air since it had absolutely nothing to do with Kanto. Johto felt like Kanto 2.0 now that I look back on it. You could even say that gen 3 is the real gen 2.

Ranger is pretty awful, rewatched it awhile ago after not seeing it since release.
