Just so you know Pokemon is a cash cow for Nintendo and it would be absolutely idiotic if at least one game isn't a launch title for the switch. Just because they're being cautious doesn't mean they don't already have a game in the works. Third versions aren't that difficult to make considering the groundwork has already been finished along with Switch dev kits being sent to numerous developers years prior.

Game takes place in some dumb timeframe somewhere in the future. Traditionalist values start to clash with a rapidly progressing society and tech level spearheaded by arbitrary "bad-guy" (whether just a reformation of a previous group or not, who fucking cares anymore). It will be an expansion of sun and moon - hence "stars".

It will recent back to gyms and leagues hence the development of a Pokemon league in the story of sun and moon.

They may add an additional island or two because that's logical.

There will no doubt be further ultrabeasts added because they are central to the plot and they can be easily introduced.

They may do a fused eclipse form of solgaleo and lunala. It could even be Necrozema. That would give their immisonary status more of a theme.

Also expect more exclusive Z moves.

Maybe even new mega evolutions.

Since Sun and Moon have the least amount of differences between versions (Both of the big ones are Day and night evolutions) I can see Stars being a straight up third version, where the difference with what you get depends on day and night.

Although Kukui himself wants Alola to have the same system as other regions, an E4 and Champion are just the start, I would imagine he would also need to establish Gyms on Alola since not everyone would be able to take on the Island challenge as it is age limited.

Only way I could see this happening is Star having been in development along side Sun and Moon, I know Nintendo is good about keeping projects under wraps but would of probably had some leaks by now. But yea if they were developing all three games at the same time I could see maybe 3d Kanto being done around next year maybe.

But the more important questions is why Kanto, all the pokemon there are so generic and boring and we already got all the best ones, save for the legendaries, from Alola, got Dragonite, Alakazam, Gengar, Snorlax, Lapras, all we need now is the Starter Trio and we got most of the good ones.

Every new gen they are required to make every single Pokémon into a 3D model in advance, specifically for spin offs utilizing them can be created without needing to remake models

The very first footage we saw of Sun and Moon and the 3D Model of Pikipek is extremely too early to be the actual development process of Pikipek

I not too sure what it will be exactly, but I have a feeling that it's going to be a sequel. necrozma is most likely going to be the box legendary, or cosmoem may end up getting a new evolution to become the third/box legendary. I was thinking that gyms will be created in the empty space that are located around alola. Lillie may end up coming back, if not then the switch is capable of holding more content than the 3ds can. That means that we may end up running into lillie while traveling kanto, but that is a HUGE stretch.

I mean, we have. That we know of Stars at all is due to a leak.

Remember, we only got the first leaks about Sun and Moon about a fucking day before they revealed the things, and only through the trademarking paperwork. We eventually got a number of leaks about the game and even the concept art of the starters, but only once the actual proper reveal and hype cycle was in full swing. Knowing as much as we do right now is typical for unreleased games. Actually, we know more than we typically do. If the rumors are actual leaks, that is.

If they are, and it is slated for late 2017 release, they'll announce it early next year. We might get some rumbling right before they do and leaks after that. Remember, ORAS came out a year after XY and we had absolutely nothing about it until they announced it earlier in the year before it happened. Not even that it was happening.

It's a sequel that adds 5 islands and 50 new Pokemon and 15 new Mega Evolutions and 16 new Alola forms, 8 new Necrozma forms and Mew gets Crabhammer
