We don't know the exact amount of time between DP/Pt and BW, or from B2W2-XY, but the better guess would be that the Kanto trio is in their 20s in the XY arc. Yellow is 2 years younger than the rest of the Kanto dex holders (9 in RGB while the other 3 are 11).

ORAS is said to take place after the DP and Pt arcs, if I'm remembering correctly (Platinum does get a small cameo in that arc, so that's something to go on). Red and Blue are confirmed to be 20 in that arc. XY is most likely years after since Green does make an appearance in HGSS with his "new" design in a flashback that Silver has. The problem with it comes when is the only purpose for the female character and then they need act like the damsel in distress only to make their love interest looks like the prince of Gary Stu. The only good written romance is the one of Ruby and Sapphire, the other ones are just repetitive and need to stop.

Blue is the first female dex holder and she literally escaped from a kidnapper and lived on the streets at 8 years old, beat one of the strongest gym leaders in Kanto despite never actually defeating any of the leaders before her, and spent a large chunk of her time in the GSC arc either getting her own shit done behind the scenes, trying to shield Silver from harm or working on overcoming her phobia. All on her own. Not to mention that without her, Yellow existing in this series wouldn't have happened.

A lot of people mis-interpret Yellow as a damsel in distress who only cares about Red, but she went undercover to SAVE RED, who was more of a damsel in distress during the Yellow arc than any of the female dex holders have ever been. All of the female dex holders have been shown to kick ass, do things on their own, save other people, succeed, and get themselves out of bad situations. The only exception at the moment is Whi-two, and that's because her story's hardly begun.

It's basically HGSS's fault. If I recall correctly, the scheduling got so fucked there were once three different stories they had to try to balance going on at once. They put BW2 on indefinite hold until just recently so they could manage it better.

The ORAS came out and they had to do that one. So ORAS got rushed, then XY finally got wrapped up, so now they only have to do SM and BW2 at the same time.

BW also had an infamously fucked release order. I think they started half way through then caught up later? Something really weird.
