Cynthia uses Mega-evolution, and Colress uses both Mega-evolution and Z-Power, in the Battle Tree. Maybe these are the versions from the Mega Universe, rather than displaced versions from the original universe.

Personally I think the original universe being destroyed is a bit much. But after the UB storyline I'm pretty sure the Mega-Universe theory is something GF is going for. I think it's pretty neat and potentially interesting if handled right, but I'll be surprised if it's ever anything beyond hints dropped in post game plot.

The only thing I know for sure is people will never stop arguing about this.
