Same dude, I loved platinum, and SS got me back into the series. But the whole breeding system was bad for me, and battle tower was just ok, sam with subway, but PWT was one of the best things to happen to the series. Gen 4 deserves some flack, but that only pushes the franchise forward. Not to mention B/W has more content than D/P, and gen 4 is slow. (I still really like it though, like I said, if it wasn't for gen 4 I wouldn't be back into pokemon.)

A 3rd wave feminist hollywood nu-male basically cloned a Episode 4: New Hope down to the exact same character layout but removed every bit of compelling or interesting character from the original. He cast a flashy, updated cast of people who couldn't act to save their lives and retained the fan favorites for like, four scenes. Abrams also thought that somehow just taking the original Ultimate Weapon and just making it bigger was somehow compelling.

In short: it was not only an unoriginal copy of a decent film, but it sucked out all the good parts and replaced it with flashy things to impress millenials.

probably one of the worst parts of gen V for me personally (other than the lame atmosphere) was the sheer amount of thematically artificial designs like vanillice that just push the boundaries of "pokemon actually invented these things guys!" hand-waving too far
