I don't mind using pokeride in the same way HMs were, but I hate having to ride one of them constantly to go faster than a snail's pace. They're awkward and imprecise to control, and the safety gear fucks up the entire point of customization.

I'd like to have bikes back along with the pokeride stuff if i'm being honest here

In the original release, HMs existed to encourage the player to use more than just their starter. This is one of the reasons there's pokedex checks for some of them, and they put others in zones like the safari zone. They didn't want players to just, say, overlevel a nidoking and speed through the game.

From gen 2 and on players showed that they were more than willing to use a full team based on type coverage and HMs have dragged the game down ever since. It only took them 20 years to catch on.

Did anyone save that post a guy made about Sinnoh remakes hypothetically removing the mount Pokemon and bring back HMs? The anon did a nice fake quote from Ohmori wanting to keep the Alola rides unique to that region and everything.
