This clown fiesta is just about over, so let's talk aboutwhat we learnedall the bullshit that went down that made it an experience to remember (or quickly forget).
I'll start with a replay of my final game:
FHQG-WWWW-WWW3-5XK8I also got fucked by Sheer Cold and Fissure, each once respectively, in two different games.
I regret bringing Talonflame so much. Or at least the set I used. It just wasn't useful against most of the field.
I confirmed that Salazzle is a hot steaming pile of shit without an item.
Also that Tapu Fini can hold it's own in a match full of UBs, Tapus, etc. pretty well.
First time I encountered a Pyukumuku and learned the bad way what it can (annoyingly) do, the same goes for Toxapex.
Lunala is the superior cover poke no doubt.
Finally understood what makes Mimikyu a safe bet to use in the Battle Tree but sadly noticed how predictable it is.
And the most important of all things. I remembered the RNG will always be against me so I should never ever carry a move that isn't 100% accuracy as if my life depended on it, because otherwise I'm almost guaranteed to fail.
I'll gladly take my 50 BP by Monday though.
Won most of my matches using this cheap trick:
YZGG-WWWW-WWW3-3BR4
Emolga for best Pikaclone.
>>30864528
Who the fuck keeps Magnezone in on Emolga tho
Explosive Gem Silvally can do fun stuff for cleanup, Pyukumuku/Koko is a decent team, Xurkitree is scary to fight if it's running discharge, Lunala is a bulky bitch, and there were less Pheromosa than I expected. My learning in a nutshell. Also Bulu/Fini can be great supports, and Garchomp hates Soak/Physically bulky/Unaware Pyukumuku/Koko team.
Only won 2/3 matches.
>what I learned
Ninetales can learn encore. Pheromosa can learn poison jab. Incineroar hard counters Lunala. Toxic spikes takes effect before the terrain changes from a Tapu switching in. I don't have very good foresight.
>>30865075
Alola Muk is bulkier and just 10 points slower than a fucking tiger.
>>30865159
He still fucked my shit up.
Finished 32-13 and, well, I learned it takes a lot more to answer Lunala than what I was equipped with. I still managed to take down several against the odds, but man was life a bitch.
Also well placed Pheros and Kartanas are really, really dumb.
>>30865327
U-Turn really fucks over Lunala.
U-Turn on Tapu Koko is really good.
>>30862901
Is it over? Shit I didn't get my 50 BP. I don't play competitive. I was going to enter a shit team for those 50BP.
>don't care about tournament
>use in-game team
>get minimum matches required
>get 50 BP
wew
>>30865380
no it runs until 7 pm est tomorrow
>>30865380
It's still going for a while. The schedule runs on UTC.
Items really make the game more fun.
>>30862901
Solgaleo and Lunala are the most underwhelming box legendaries competitively, they're even worse than Reshiram and Zekrom.
>>30865629
Greninja is always better than either of them.
>>30862901
Defensive Comfey with Synthesis, Draining Kiss, and Leech Seed sucks to fight.
People are dumb and don't switch out their Garchomp as soon as they see my Buzzwole.
A good 40% of the trainers had a Garchomp on their team.
Same Buzzwole gives SwagPlay Klefki problems if you're allowed to Bulk Up - to the point where the guy proceeded to let the timer run out out of sheer butthurt.
I went 25-20 over the course of the whole thing, so at least I'm not bronze 5.
>>30865685
I feel like there weren't nearly enough frogs entered into this. Or Zygardes. I saw two, and both were dogs. Guess nobody could be fucked to track down the cells.
Must have been more Magearna than both combined.
>>30866364
I saw a 100%.
Which was immediately decimated by my Tapu Koko on the next turn.
Faced an 1830 rated Jap and he was using a hardcore stall team, go figure
Skarmory/Blissey is annoying without items
>>30867657
All japs I fought used Magnezones to counter that shit.
