What is the most optimal team for each Pokemon game? That is to say, which team can run through the game as quickly as possible with as few issues as possible?

Teams can either be solo teams (ie grind your starter) or teams with more in them.

When I needed a Kabuto for my Gen 2 game but I had already chosen Omanyte on my Blue save, I restarted and solo'd the game in a few short hours using just Blastoise (And HM slaves for shit Blastoise couldn't learn)
