i finally caught the final Diglett that i needed to evolve to Dugtrio. i'm glad for the dex entry but disappointed as hell that duggy's max CP is lower that butterfree's, lower than beedrill's, lower that RATTATA'S. i would have thought that their most recent rebalance thing would have fixed something like this.

The tracker is complete shit,Why is Niantic so stupid with UI, it even shows in ingress.I cant find specific pokemon on sightings and if I do it's by mere chance,when will we get the old tracker back that actually worked?Atleast order the pokemon so I know which ones are closest,organize the nearby so two or more pokemon aren't take up the same pokestop space and add some rustling grass/sand/snow etc. as visual for spawn points on the map.

That came from stupid engineering design decisions like every client pinging the servers once a second at launch.

All they needed to do was not do stupid shit like that instead of taking out the whole feature. They have the rate-limiting in place now (e.g. 15+ seconds between scans, recaptchas, etc.) but still haven't brought it back.

For a company made up of supposedly smart former Google engineers, they are massively incompetent when it comes to making good engineering decisions. Game has been dying for a long while now, the amount of people playing right now is not even imaginable near of the amount of people that was playing at that moment with the tracking active. Do you seriously think that the servers were are not able to support that feature at the moment?

I don't have exact source but a couple of journalists that made interviews with Hanke asked about the tracker and he said that he doesn't like people looking at their phones. As with many other things with the game they removed it because they want to you to play in the specific way they have designed the game.

Hanke said in an interview a couple months ago that trading and pvp battling wasn't even drawn up in the plans for the next two quarters, Niantic doesn't give a fuck what you want out of an AR Pokemon phone game. This is just a fun little sandbox experiment for them while they screw around and coast on the Pokemon brand. If you don't play the way they want you to, they will spend all their time making sure you can't (and suck at it).

The game isn't going to get better, we aren't going to get the old tracker back, and the game is only a glorified pedometer that can't even count your distance properly even within a margin of error of +-1km.

My autism prevents me from stopping until I hit lv 40 so I'm just sticking around for the grind. Farm some coins for Lucky Eggs, get enough dust to top off my gym defenders when they come home, then work my free incubator while I walk to and from work because I don't have a car. Once I max out on coin upgrades and the Lucky Eggs I need to hit 40, I won't even need to bother with gyms either. Barely spend a couple hours a week total collecting 10 gyms a day, and I'm Instinct.
The game has nothing else going for it so it'll keep dying. Third-world countries like India don't know how good they have it to not have to live with this cancer being a part of their culture now.

Anyway, it's probably likely the dev team just shelved the idea. The time and resources that would have to go into solving the problem probably outweighed the desire by the management team to implement it. The feature doesn't make them extra money and they probably figure the amount of players, new or returning, that would start playing because of the feature is minimal.

Niantic's biggest sin is ambition. When ambition fails, and they backtrack on a feature, the player base lashes out, reasonably. It's baiting and switching. And tracking will always be its original sin. It should've never existed in the first place.

Niantic will (hopefully) never buff or nerf pokemon on an individual basis - other than changing movesets - because that would mean fucking with the base stats from the actual games which is absolute heresy and furthermore plain admission that they don't know what the fuck they're doing.

Ultimately though, their retarded stat condensing system is to blame for 40% of the dumb shit that goes on in this game. An additional 40% is the catastrophically retarded battle system, and the remaining 20% is the fact that they neutered type advantages so hard.

That's without powering up yeah, and 89% is the highest I've ever found (previously it was an 84% that I caught like week 1). I was a little hesitant because I'd much rather evolve a 92+%, but by the time I really need a super competitive dragonite I'll hopefully have found a better dratini. 89% is plenty for now imo

look at every single thing niantic has done since game release

the only things that werent minor number tweaks:

-mass transfer (5 months to port over from ingress)

-ditto release (4 months late because it took more thought than other super simplified moves to implement transform)

-'nearby' (4 months of testing just to implement a downgraded version from the original, and still not much different from sightings effort-wise)

-pikachu hat (the highest effort addition they've made)

-gen 2 babies (only the easy ones included, tyrogue inexplicably left out because they couldnt decide on what to do about the split candies)

-daily bonuses (simple, basic feature that took months to implement)

All other things INCLUDING the non-events are basic number tweaks (spawn tweaks, gym 'changes', bonuses)

I'm waiting to make a final decision on whether they're putting any effort into the game at all.
The pikachu hat was honestly a surprise because it's so much more effort than they've put in the rest of the time.
If the other plans for december are just number tweaks or a few more least effort gen 2 releases then there is no hope for actual features like battling being released or proper changes like fixing the gym system

Yeah, I recognize the street. Was also at that Pokeflow thing done a couple of weeks later by some guy who was trying to turn lure parties into a small business.

Was fun listening to the bewildered conversations of tourists when they realized it wasn't just a small group of "those cellphone zombies playing that Pokemon thing" but 200+ people all playing together...

Got a wild Gyarados in the first 15 minutes. His IVs were crap at 47% but he was L25 which was better than anything I had. I still battle with him every now and then.

I only have a 435 CP Dragonite, but I am walking my Dragonair (52 candies) for a better one. On the day I caught Dragonite, I also finally saw a Lickitung, which ran away. I was more disappointed about that than if a higher level Dragonite would have run away. Haven't seen Porygon either, and I have hatched close to 400 eggs already. I'm level 28, coming to 29.
