First bloodline may be taken into consideraton, therefore Hala and Hapu (and may be Olivia, not sure if antone stated her family were also Kahunas or not) are the "favorite" ones of all candidate. Nanu is an opposite because Bulu hate old Kahuna due to building the damn mall and probably choosen the unrelate guy instead.
Aside from that, Hala is professional battler/wrestler so he was obvious choice. Lele probably saw Olivia as the most "fun" gal to stick around. Bulu picked Nanu because he was the least ambitious and least likely to oppose him again. Fini probably gave zero fuck but Hapu was the only one who bother trained herself in that rural island to became one so she just let her be.
