No, it doesn't. It's fiction, not real life. When something irreconcilable occurs that's clearly an error, we can dismiss it as such. Same way that we know there aren't normal animals in the Pokémon universe, even though they appeared very early on. In a fictional universe, mistakes and changes will happen.
