I'm interested in this. I haven't played the VC ports because I played the originals when they came out. I didn't think they would be able to port to S/M, or even think about this being a unique situation with their altered abilities and movepool.

What Pokemon are the most drastically different from their modern counterparts?

Dupe them all just to be safe. That's what I did. The PC has just enough room for all of them, and all of the key items fit in your inventory. If you can avoid picking up the Exp Share and Good Rod, just to have some extra room for useful items, all the better.

IIRC, the decision to completely revamp how stats work was made after they discovered they couldn't get the GBC and GBA to talk to each other properly.

Changing DVs to IVs is simple. You basically multiply the value by 2 and add 1 in certain cases.
Natures are easy as well. To be completely fair, you'd give everything transferred from the VC games a neutral nature.
Switching stat experience to EVs wouldn't be too hard. Just take the square root and round down to the nearest whole number.

But how could they possibly deal with Pokémon that have more than 131,070 total stat experience? That would be more than 510 EVs. Just having Special maxed out in Gen I would be equal to 510 EVs in Gen VII. If you had a level 100 Mewtwo with perfect DVs and 65,535 stat experience across HP/Attack/Defense/Speed/Special, how would Bank distribute that?
