The SOS encounters are stored in 8bit or something like that. From 70 to 255 encounters, the shiny rate is at its highest, 1/600-somthing. But they forgot to cap it at 255, so instead of going to 256, it rolls back to 1. Meaning that if you pass 255 encounters, you might as well reset the game because your shiny rate just went to shit

Yup, I got a shiny Magikarp and tested it out with some Pokemon. I tried it with Mimikyu, Marowak, and Salandit (which turned out female).

Took the Mimikyu anyway since I had been hunting 30 boxes in for it.

I'm going with an ultra ball because it has the yellow like on its shell and the grey is somewhat close to its body color. I was also debating going with a level ball, but the in game ball sprite looks more brown than yellow and there's red on it so it doesn't really work.

Bring a level 100 'mon to a dude in the Hau'oli City mall, and you can raise the IVs as if they were max, all in exchange for bottlecaps.

Regular bottlecaps max out a single stat, Golden bottlecaps max out all of them.

It does not actually max IVs, only the stats themselves.

This is one of the more stressful MMs I've done - I've already gotten dealt the "here's the shiny, whoops, it's male :^)" card by the game and there's a 7/8 chance that the next shiny I get will be the same.

My maths is not the best, but on average, 5 boxes of females must mean I've hatched 30 or more boxes, if I'd kept the males? What's worse is sometimes I'll go three rounds hatching eggs, only getting males and praying I DON'T get the shiny on one of them.

I've gotten several 70+ chains going over the past few days and none of them have been successful, and it's pretty frustrating?

I'm certain I'm not doing anything wrong, but any tips anyway?

I chained a shiny Crabrawler a few days ago and hatched a shiny Rowlet for my partner 2 days ago. Can't decide what to breed for next, I usually just use a Jap breedject for one of the parents (we don't play competitively so I'm not breeding perfect mons just shinies)
I don't have the charm yet because I got excited about shiny hunting too quick but I'm actively trading on GTS for stuff I'm missing and wonder trading my rejects for hopefully new Japanese guys. I like doing it this way because I still breed decent mons with good natures, they're just not PERFECT. Anyone would be happy to get one (especially if they're breeding with destiny knots etc) unless they're expecting perfect wonder trades.
When I was wonder trading away the Rowlets I got a shiny FEMALE Salandit, don't think it's a hack because it's not that good, is in a quick ball, and has a terrible nature. I might send it back out and hope it finds a little kid that will be excited about it. I like my shinies to have me as OT.

I want to get a Happiny for Pokedex. According to this table, it appears on the Lush Jungle, but what pokemon do I start with? I thought it was Caterpie, since it's on the same column, so I chained around 40 pokemon and nothing other than Caterpies and Butterfrees popped up

Sos chaining has had varied effects for me. A rattata came in less than 60. Bounsweet took just over 200. Comfey took about 130. But I tried Cutiefly and wound up killing every cutiefly ever. 5 day long encounter. THEN I learned that shiny chance doesn't cap, it resets. Just want that hella cute fly.

Phew, feels like I'm doing gods work. Got done modding my new 3ds yesterday and already wonder traded over a hundred shinies. I can only imagine the joy on the little Vietnamese children's faces as they get their first shiny from a random, warm hearted American. I don't want them thinking they are Pkhex mons though so ive been making sure to make the speed/atk/spatk IVs 1-10 and the rest 29. It seems like the SOS chaining rate is affected by Shiny Charm. I've seen that it's a flat 1/600 rate, but I don't know. I got my first shiny Stufful after less than 100 calls for help. Then I went for a second one and I got it within 20 minutes, but it was killed by a regular Stufful. Then I got a third one a while after that, 200 maybe.
