Kalos just doesn't have a lot of memorable stuff either, but at least the previous one showed Lysandre's public persona much better than the game did.

The events that occur postgame are still happening. The protagonists' involvement in them is what is considered non-canon. For example, Calem didn't help Looker in this episode, but the events still took place.

Another example of this would be Hilbert. You get credits when you beat Ghetsis, and you can't become a Champion until postgame. Thus, Hilbert isn't a Champion. No where in the game is he referred to as such.
