the big reason why Pokemon will never be a big e-sport is because of the sheer amounts of RNG. it'll still be a thing since it has skill and, depending on the tier, a metric fuck-ton of customization for sets and teams, but luck is quite literally a huge factor in Pokemon considering miss rates, crits, chances of flinching/paralysis, etc.
