Tierno played comic relief better. All Kiawe humor comes from the Hiker. Kiawe played dancer better, because part of the "dancer" thing is dancing, and Gen 7 had better stuff for animation. Plus, you actually get to learn Kiawe's dance for use in battle.

I'd argue Kiawe's humour depends a lot on himself. His trial works as comedic relief because you don't expect it, he looks so stern and serious you'd probably expect his trials to be walking barefoot on hot coal while fighting off Alolan Marowaks along the way. Definitvely wouldn't had the same impact if he looked goofy as fuck
