most dragons traditionally have a breath attack based on their asociated element. their are also different tiers of dragons and subraces. From what i guess GF never tried to take the high fantasy route and we are stuck with the "general dragon"

dark souls made it popular that they are weak to electricity, but dragons are a fan favourite in pokemon for decades. since their de facto nerf in gen 6 with fairies i cant see them being weakened even more any time soon.
