Pokemon Reborn: Recap Thread

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Thread replies: 106
Thread images: 42

Because we had a lot of newcomers joining in the last thread, and the archive of our old adventures died, I decided to do a brief summary of our adventures up to the point we began yesterday.

Old thread: >>30769326

Unfortunately, bump limit was hit and the thread died before I could finish it, so I will be posting the whole recap again from here.

>What is this?
Almost two years ago, /vp/ expressed interest in a fangame called Pokemon Reborn. A person called Notm played through it and posted screencaps here, exposing some less than stellar writing and game design. Keks were had. I joined him in playing through the game, but his savefile got corrupted, so I'm the only one left. Yesterday Episode 16 was posted. Many more keks were had.

>What is this game?

From the (old) site itself:
>Pokemon Reborn pushes the envelope of the Pokemon series. Experience a never-before-seen layer of strategy with the all-original Field Effects, using the terrain to outplay and overwhelm your opponent! Collect, train and battle with all 721 Pokemon available in-game! And take on Gym Leaders of all 18 types as you fight to restore Reborn to prosperity!

Those who have a tiny idea of what this game is about know it's not all that simple, of course.

We start at the beginning, as a trainer moving to the Reborn Region, with its league being managed by one 'Ame' person, who may be the most incompetent league owner to ever exist. In previous versions her outfit was ridiculous, as of this version she uses the non retarded one.

Your gender options are male, female, and 'neither'.

When we arrive, a terrorist blows up the train station, ensuring we can't leave this shithole when we regret our decision coming here. We meet two of our rivals Cain and Victoria, a flaming bisexual and some fighting trainer. Then we get a tiny taste of what lies ahead when the bombing pepetrator gets himself a torture scene.

It's worth noting that Ame is the self-insert of the creator. In fact, considering this game is based off an old pokemon online/forum RP that used to be called Poke-place, she's not the only one.

We meet the last of our rivals Fern, who is the only one who looks somewhat normal up to this point. We are introduced to Team Meteor and raid our first Meteor base and meet up with a pair of grunts that will continue to appear over the course of the game. We fight with the obnoxious coked up electric gym leader Julia for our furst badge, then run into more Team Meteor trouble.

The first admin we meet is Meteor Admin ZEL, who for some reason is three personalities in one body, whose names are Zero, Eve and Lumi. They control a PULSE Pokemon, funcitonally special enemy-only story megas. The first of these is Tangrowth.

Fern slowly reveals himself to be more of a cunt. We fight his autistic sister who is the second gym leader.

More Team Meteor trouble, and we run into an admin called Taka, who doesn't seem all that enthusaistic about being in an evil terrorist cell. When we get caught in a trap and Fern refuses to bail us out because we wouln't suck his cock, Taka is the one who rescues us with his Chatot

We meet this brat and her Salamence, Heather, who despite her age is one of the Elite 4, and despite her power can't just tell her father to fuck off. She has a less than stellar relationship with him, who is also a gym leader and a Meteor Admin. When we beat him his daughter rubs salt in the wound by finally telling him to fuck off.

He decides this is a good time to kill himself. No, really.

It's worth noting that this was based off real events, when a previous player in their RP killed himself due to depression from similar circumstances. It gets crazier than that, apparently the IRL player's daughter was also in the RP league and he asked one of the otherp layers to care for her before he commited suicide. I really couldn't tell where OOC ended and IC began.

I'm not sure if honouring the memories of your friends by putting them in your game is the best idea.

I read the previous thread and my friend wanted to know what pokemon M3G4T3RR4 had

Nidoking, Garchomp, Quagsire, Excadrill, Claydol, Hippowdon, all with dumb nicknames. She's supposed to be the ground type gym leader.
>>
Honestly Adrienn was one of the easier gym leaders in the game. Metagross and Meteor Mash ruined his team.

The worst part is, because he didn't give us his badge before he killed himself, we have to fight another fucking gym leader. And in this game badges are really fucking important because if your Pokemon are levelled to high they will refuse to obey, like traded Pokemon.

While Fern looks normal and Cain looks like cancer, their personalities are the complete opposite.

We meet up with the bug gym leader, Shelly, who is supposedly Bugsy's (Johto gym leader) sister that he 'never mentions'. Right. Heather is apparently a less than pleasant friend of hers. I didn't cap it, but we do get a badge from her.

When she runs out, a psychiatrist called Dr Sigmund Connal appears. With Heather having no legal guardian, he is legally permitted to kidnap her to bring into his orphanage. Which is very bad, because he's some crazy fuck obsessed with giving electroshock treatments. I name him Dr Electrorape from this point on.

To save her, we break into the orphanage, aided by the inmates. We are introduced to Noel and Charlotte, both gym leaders for some reason despite being locked up and practically unavailable to fight, and Anna, some crazy girl who has some kind of soul vision, enough to see me glowing. We managed to break them all out, but now we have to escape the city.

>>30792625
True, I think his only anti-steel is to spam focus blast and fighting attacks. Magnezone couldn't handle it though.

To open our escape route, we need to head up to a haunted, abandoned power plant. The ghost haunting the power plant is a gym leader too. No, really.

Spooky screens in his gym foreshadow four people dying. We've already seen one of them, the poison gym leader earlier who jumped off the wall.

Howeverm while we're away, the kids get kidnapped by Team Meteor, who is for some reason working with Dr Electrorape. We need the strength HM to follow them so we can rescue them, but that is only held by Victoria's master Kiki, who on the poopsite side of a polluted shitwater lake. Cain goes off without us, we need a boat, and before the water leader Amaria will lend us her boat we have to help her raid yet another Meteor Base.

We meet up with Meteor Boss Solaris, who reveals his big master plan was to pollute Reborn City to drive out all the outlanders. Difficult, since people can't leave if the fucking train station got blown up. I name him Captain Pollution, but Dagoth Ur would also be a good name.

Also, he seems very interested in girl's jewelry. Then we fight the PULSE Muk responsible for the water becoming shit.

We make it to Apophyll academy, where Victoria's master Kiki is. She refuses to give us the strength HM because it's only for graduating students and it would be """disrespectful""", never mind a couple of kids about to get electroraped. Victoria gets around this by asking to graduate so she can just take the HM and give it to us, though a more elegant solution would be to just punch her and take it.

In order to use the HM we still have to get her badge, and for her to accept our challenge, we have to face off against her student, a fire guy called Cal. Victoria seems to have a crush on him. Then after that we beat Kiki herself and humiliate her in front of all her students. Victoria doesn't want us fighting her master because she's dying of some illness, and tries to fight us to stop it instead of getting the fucking HM we need to save a few lives.

We humuliate both of them. However, we don't get our badge, which is very worrying. In the meantime, Cain still hansn't appeared. We find him caught on a Meteor base on a nearby island, where it's revealed they're about to make the volcano on the academy blow up. We go up to stop them and face our first 'unbeatable' boss, Captain Pollution's level 75 Garchomp.

We humiliate it with a level 1 Magnemite.

Despite being effectively a cripple, Kiki joins us at the mountaintop, where she promptly gets decapitated. This is the second death I know to be based off real events, the IRL Kiki in the RP league died of nephritis, kidney inflmmation, caused by an autoimmune disease of some kind.

Cal is a traitor and a Meteor agent, and then he betrays Team Meteor as well, making him some kind of double traitor. He sure fucked up.

Because the fucking bitch didn't give us her badge after we beat her fair and square, we need yet another badge before we can save the kids from Dr Electrorape. Cain lets us into a weird as fuck place caleld the Wasteland where his house is, and where his sister's gym is. We run into a rock guy called Hardy, who is notable for being the most normal character. Turns out Cain was supposed to be the gym leader, but ran away from home.

We still don't know why Team Meteor wants little girl jewelry so much, or why Dr Electrorape is so obsessed with electroshocking kids. We save them, and Salamence brat flies off without a word, really showing her gratitude for us risking life and limb for her.

We find the Belrose Manse outside the city, which belongs to some of the orphans. We meet Laura, one of their sisters and an Elite 4 member. Spirit vison girl became sick when her jewelry was taken, so we head over to the next town to find medicine. Entire buildings have been teleporting around for some reason.

We meet the ice gym leader and her son Bennett. An Arceus cultist called El comes in asking about his daughter, a girl called Luna. Luna is some crazy girl adopted by the ice gym leader some time ago, and now she's gone again. Arceus cultist somehow has the pwoer to bribe Bennett with Elite 4 membership in exchange for information.

>>30793471

Had a prior pokemon leech seed, then had Magnemite stall forever by using the leech seed recovery to restore to full until the Garchomp died.

When we get back, Team Meteor and Dr Electrorape are at it again. Saphira, the dragon gym leader and one of the sisters, arrives to warn and help us. Two of the children get taken and we storm the Meteor base to rescue them, getting teleported around by a PULSE Abra that makes us face a giant giga steelix, we eventually defeat both.

Lin, the true leader of Team Meteor, arrives. She terrifies the other admins so much thet they beg us to pretend to be a grunt to hide the fact they allowed their base to get stormed.

When Anna, crazy spirit vision girl, is asked about Lin, she says she couldn't see anyone. It's possible Lin is literally soulless.

We beat one of the orphans for our next badge.

With how obsessed Team Meteor is with stealing some jewelry, we're given some for safekeeping and told to head north to cities where the gyms are owned by some of the orphans. 12 hours into the game, we make it to Route...1.

On the way, we find a castle where the luckiest man in the universe lives. Radomus is the psychic gym leader, who not only has a talking slut Gardevoir who works as a TV host, he has inexplicably attracted Luna, the cosplayign maid qt, to live with him. Shortly after, however, his Gardevoir is seemingly kidnapped by the Arceus cultist, who demands the cosplaying qt as random, who he claims is his daughter.

We're told to find him underneath the city, where we find a strange shrine and a guy/girl/something called Adrienn, who claims to have been in there for just an hour. This is where we get the pronouns speech. The Gardevoir claims she hates Radomus, but it turns out to have been the cultist's Ditto all along. It turns out that we're in some kind of shrine where Arceus is, and he has his ditto transform into Arceus to attack us.

The real Gardevoir apepars and knocks him out before we leave. A piece of unsettling dialogue that might be coming from the infant, imprisoned Arceus appears.

Pronoun mangirl has been stuck in a timewarp for almsot a decade, and is shocked by how much of a shithole Reborn is in. We were protected from the timewarp under the city because of the jewelry.

We interrupt Radomus' erotic roleplaying session by asking for a gym fight. And somehow, he's managed to brainwash the Arceus cultist into becoming his servant.

When we beat him, Luna is revealed to be the dark gym leader, but promprlty gets kidnapped when the Arceus cultist shakes off the brainwashing and Team Meteor appears yet again. Radomus has to go int ohiding because reasons, but we're told we can find Luna in the Arceus cult base in 7th street, a secret underground criminal hideout in the city. Bennett is now a cult member and has no probelsm imprisoning us and watching Luna get mindraped. We're rescued by Gardevoir, who reveals that Bennett's been jerking it to Luna constantly or something. Luna gives us the key to find her gym in a valley somewhere.

We fibd Luna, but Bennett has stalked us. He tries to get it on with Luna but is shut down because he's a creepy autist. He sees no problem with trying to mug us for the key to get in her room and rape her, and when that fails he goes off muttering to himself darkly. I'm going to call him bug rapist from now on.

Luan spouts of some of the cringiest dialogue in the whole game. Considering everything we've faced so far, this is truly a fucking accomplishment. Never mind that the dark type doesn't refer to literal lack of light.

We join Cain and head up to Agate Town, but some kind of weird sleep signal is knocking everyone out. A thing I'm not sure is even human, whose name is Terra, rescues us by hammering us into her circus to the west. She is a gym leader, along with two other cricus employees.

Further to the west is the lesbian love shack, where Amaria, the water leader who lent us her boat, lives with her waifu, the steel gym leader called Titania, or Tania. Some more news about Team Meteor. We beat another gym leader, and while it's not shown here we're told that the sleep signal is coming from Ametrine City, some city far up the mountain. T

To get there we need the HM surf, but we accidentally help reveal that steelgirl never loved Amaria at all and was merely pretending to do so in order to stop her from killing herself. Naturally, this triggers yet another suicide attempt. Titania jumps in after her to rescue her, and we'll have to bail them out when we can.

The path to Ametrine is blocked, so our only way forward is to another city where Team Meteor has established a based and is laying siege. We run into the same pair of grunts we've been fighting since forever, now promoted to higher ranks. One of them decides to defect because the attack is on her hometown, and that Team Meteor used to be less evil before Lin took over or something.

She was stupid enough to announce her defection with an admin behind her, so she's punished by having her soul burnt out by a Chandelure.

The same thing almost happesn to us, but Aya, Cain's sister, steps in the way and saves us. She gets captured instead.

We're in Calcenon City, and half of it has been blocked off by Team Meteor's barrier. Realising that there are few more steps he can make to become an even bigger cuntwad, Fern joins Team Meteor.

Laura has been dismissed from the Elite 4 for reasons unknown. Something strange is going on, but Team Meteor interrupts and demands the jewelry again. Charlotte helps us tell them to fuck off. She owns the local gym that gives us the badge to let us use dive, allowing us to make our way to Ametrine, so we challenge her.

She gives a speech about how arson is great. Maybe Dr Electrorape was right to keep the kids imprisoned.

Rumours are that Heather's been adopted by some sugardaddy in Ametrine, so Shelly joins us. We clear the way by destroying a PULSE Avalugg.

recap 15.jpg
1MB, 1980x1896px
Turns out all that was needed for Heather to shack up with some creepy guy was to promise her a house with 'no rules'.

Because the giant Avalugg was blocking traffic, Ametrine is having a food shortage, but somebody's been secrelty distributing food. We find a house that explains the origins of ZEL, they were a sick girl, her scientist sister and a Meteor agent all fused into his body.

Blake, Heather's sugardaddy and an ice trainer, reveals he's locked her up, big surprise, and wants the jewelry to get her back. He's a Meteor agent who had his own food stores and wanted the town to starve, but Heather secretly shared it. Shelly, being fucking retarded, forces us to give in to his demands, and in a shocking twist of events he reveals he's lying.

The traitor at the volcano Cal returns to help us fight back, we rescue Salamence brat and beat up Blake. However, there is no sleep signal here, and Cal reveals that lel so randum xD Terra was a Meteor agent all along and sent us on a wild goose chase.

When we go back to confront her, she
She uploads herself into her computer to escape.

We join her in the computer, which resembles the gen 1 overworld. She's a gym leader, but despite being a Meteor agent, gives us a badge, making her a better human being than Kiki and Corey. To seal her in, they just turn off the computer.

With waterfall in hand we go down to rescue the lesbian not-lovers. This may have been a less than optimal decison, as Titania reveals herself to be a bloodthirsty bitch who wields her Aegislash like a sword and shield to murder Meteors in cold blood. The Reborn League, everyone.

There are Arceus cultists in here, revealing their link to Team Meteor, and the reluctant admin Taka appears to call Titania out for the edgy cunt she is. I'm going to call her coldsteel from now on.

At this point it becomes obvious that Taka has been helping us and was merely pretending to try and impede us. Turns out he and his father, Captain Pollution, are from a long line who care for the Arceus Meteor in the shrine. He doesn't really like Team Meteor but doesn't want to leave, either because he;s afraid or he doesn't want to abandon his father.

Coldsteel decides that mock executions suit her better now, but makes sure to mention that she prefers murder. What a nice lady.

We manage to clear out the shitwater when we defeat a PULSE Swalot and make it to where Taka and Amaria is. The same grunts that cared for Coldsteel's friend have been murdered by her, well done. Taka however asks us for a favour, he needs us to beat him in a battle to make it look like we overpowered him and he didn't just let us in. We're free to refuse, but because he saved our asses before, we do as he says.

Spooky ghost man appears, and I think he's saying that out of the four deaths predicted earlier, only two of them will happen. Two of them already did happen, so I guess everyone on them is safe.

We meet up with old characters, Julia and Florinia, the electric and grass gym leaders respectively. Some commentary on how retardedly poorly run the Reborn League is. At this point I actually can stomach Julia as a character and think she's unironically best girl, because everyone else is even worse.

Team Meteor knows that we've reclaimed Amaria and her jewelry, so they're coming to attack. This is also Fern's first job as a Meteor cocksucker. Depending on whether you fought Taka to help him keep his cover or refused, the dialogue is a little different.

Fern comes in pretending to be a hostage, and Florinia, who is his sister, tells him to fuck off. He gets incredibly, deliciously butthurt.

Fern is unable to understand that no one gives a fuck about him, and after we bully him and the ice guy he leaves with crying tears of precious, delicious salt.

Captain Pollution himself battles us and Julia, and he too gets completely destroyed. Team Meteor gets so mad they try to set the house on fire, but this is a water gym, so they fail with this as well. Team Meteor is thoroughly humiliated and defeated, and Solaris says he'll have to involve Lin before going home to cry himself to sleep.

Amaria wakes up, with completely no memory of anything that's happened since the beginning of the game, meaning that all that lesbian love drama we went through was for fucking nothing. Coldsteel takes the jewelry with her to her gym in the desert, and we'rr told to return to Reborn City. In order to do that, we have to fly there, since the path back is blocked by the sleep town.

I don't feel particularly bad for them, because the fuck do you expect to happen when you join an evil terrorist cult cell

And at the same time, Coldsteel's sewer slashing was really fucking stupid and she was obviously doing it to satisfy herself.

And the very last entry. Despite being under the league's employ, the gym leaders at the circus also require you to have battle passes to fight them, which are onlyu given out in limited amounts by the circus. Somehow this doesn't disqualify them from being gym leaders for conflict of interest. Bravo, Ame, bravo.

Despite being a flying gym leader, her Mega removes her flying type.

We should be getting most of the TMs before postgame, but that's a while away. It was stated Magikarp would be postgame only too. Trying to trade a Magikarp with the online features, a pokemon that learned an unavailable TM move in previous versions from breeding will also cause it to be blocked.

It's incredibly easy to bypass though
>>
>>30795632

After reading all of this, I don't see what people get out of this plot unless they literally wrote one of the OCs donut steel themselves.

The game keeps talking about all these incredibly high stakes, how evil and dangerous Team Meteor is compared to any other evil team in Pokemon, and the importance of the Gym Leaders and E4 and yet I couldn't care less because ~90% of the cast is written to be completely unlikable self-inserts.

Can I just have likable characters instead of a dark and serious plot?
>>
I remember this. I played it thinking it would be hard nuzlocke but then you wot m8t speed boost blaziken right off the bat. Then cotton guard ampharos. Then some other shitters I don't remember but I still destroyed the game easily. I think somewhere in my brain I had something shut off while reading the plot to protect myself so I don't remember anything about the plot. I also had to got into cheat engine just to speed hack because of how terrible some of the text speed and game speed was and I can't stand some of dat bullshit. I do remember the beldum being a 10/10 secret where you go back into an older build and do some shenanigans all in order to get the first catch rate 3 legendary of the game. Thanks, remember to rate bait subscrate upboat my blog.

A significant portion of dev time probably went to this.

The now-surfable lake has 3 major dive spots, all of which are actually pretty hard to access because their entrances are hidden and literally one tile-wide. You can find goddies there, including a megastone, but what seems to be important is an egagement ring. You exchange stuff with people around the city until at the end you give a Klefki guy we met earlier at the evil cult temple his house key, and he gives you his Klefki. His Klefki couldh't find his house key, but it found something else.

Said key can be used to break into what seems to be evil Arceus cultist man's, whos name is El, private room, where you can find some weird thing caleld 'Dark Material' and his diary.

The text is long as fuck, the gist of it is that as mentioned before, Solaris and his son Taka were from a long line of people dedicated to caring for the Arceus meteor, which was sealed by four keys. Evil cultist man's family came later and swore to be their servants. However, our cultist was born blind, and so would make for a shit servant.

Solaris, not giving a fuck a young man, decides to take on cultist man as his servant anyway. Neither of them really gave a fuck about the meteor until Solaris' parents were murdered by thieves who wanted the keys. After that he slowly becomes the Captain Pollution we know and love, and asks El to step the fuck up. When he does, he suddenly wakes up with his blindness cured. He believes the murder of Solaris' parents and the curing of his blindness is both Arceus' will. Seems like he's a genuine believer. Oh, and Luna actually, really is his daughter.

I guess it's harder to call him evil cultist man knowing he's a genuine believer, so we'll just call him insane cultist man.

Oh, and obviously now Solaris no longer has the keys. Fuck knows how they came to be in the possesion of a couple of young girls. Still not a good idea to give him back the keys, since he seems bent on killing everyone and establishing a new world.
>>
I don't know whether to call this tumblr or edgy or whatever, all I know is that this thing is terrible and I love it.

Wonder if the creator has enough self-awareness to realize that or if she legitimately thinks she's outputting a good product.

You know how you've probably done cringy stuff as a kid or teenager and are glad the forums you did this on are gone now?

Seems like it's slowly creeping up to the creators, who, I've been told, have toned down some of the more ridiculous stuff in later versions.

Anyway, as part of the chain of quests to get the key, we give this fortune teller back her crystal ball, and she offers to tell us our future.

It's incredibly disturbing, to say the least.

Apparently, we will cease to exist, and will never have existed. Because of this the city is still being ravaged by Team Meteor's antics. Instead of us, a 'boy with a beaded tooth necklace' steps forward, and is joined by a 'man with spiked bracelets', a 'girl blessed with a sleeping star' and 'a taciturn woman in a red and black suit'. However, shit goes bad, and it ends with the girl making a wish on her 'sleeping star'.

>red and black woman
The only red woman we know of is Titania

>spiked Bracelets
Seems to fit DJ Arclight, but I only remember because I'm looking at the game sprite data.

>sleeping star
Anna, crazy soulvision girl, is supposed to be carryign around a Jirachi doll. It might not be a doll at all.

>azure hair
Seems to fit Cal, the double traitor, especially with the line later that says 're-dyed red', since he dyed his hair but stops when we meet him at the ice town.

>bearded tooth necklace
There is no one with a tribal necklace in this game, surprisingly. But you know what looks like big teeth? Popped collars. And the only one with it is fucking Fern.

There is a future where Fern became the hero. God help us all.

But then, shit goes wrong in various ways, and one of the makes a wish on their 'sleeping star'. Not before Titania does... something, and that's it.

Boy, I sure am glad we're in this timeline. Who knows that the fuck happened to create that, though.

There is a field called New World, and apparently using Gravity in it will make a Star field or something.

If you look in the files you can find graphics for all notes, and digging around in the code reveals extra information that didn't fit in the image.

There's also supposedly now a Flower Field. In the code, it's named something along the lines of "burn this field in hell" instead of usual name.

Considering it has FIVE stages which make its effect stronger, I can see why.

I don't think any of the above is anywhere used right now.

One last sidequest, because this is useful and had an... interesting ending.

first, I'm gonna repost the mourning Meteor grunt from last thread.

>>30770587

Basically he's a grunt who got suckered into joining meteor because his waifu died and they promised to bring her back. But then he falls in love with another grunt instead. He feels like this counted as betraying his wife, and even worse when his new waifu, Tara, died. He tries to give her a funeral but doesn't know her last name.

So anyway, we try to help him out, we head to the site of the battle where she fell and have a dive. Some of the bodies have IDs, but one doesn't. We ask a nearby fisherman and he tells us he saw a Whiscash eat it, and gives us a Super rod to help us out.

Here you have to keep fucking fishing up Whiscashes until oen does have it, and any Whiscash you have him check disappears regardless of success or not. I believe it's tied to how high the IVs of the Whiscash are, because I raised the IVs of one and it succeeded. Didn't check to see if it would work before raising the IVs, though.

Anyway, we have the ID tage. It says Tara... Copperman? sounds familliar.

Actually, bug autist's sprite also shows some weird teeth collar. Which is interesting since now he's joined up with the cultists, maybe the villains are trying to have him replace us.

Anyway, we give the grunt the ID tag so he finally knows who he fell in love with.

Uh

Seems to be the most likely scenario. The crazier ideas, what with all the sudden timeline bullshit we've uncovered, are that she might be his wife from an alternate timeline, or their daughter from the future. Fuck if I know.

>I want a dark Pokemon game!
This is what I picture in my head every time someone says that.
It's sad that the most challenging Pokemon game/fangame is attached to such a shitty fucking story, and that I actually had fun playing it.
>>
>>30801184
The fact that its super campy is why I like. Especially given the fact that the creators were...I'm not going to say dumb, but dumb enough to think their RP would translate well to people not in their RP group.

Also, has anyone had luck in getting debug mode to work, I can't figure out how to put the script in without the game crashing.
>>

Just get an event somewhere that will cause a script "$DEBUG=TRUE" or something along the lines. It's not that hard, desu.

I like this game. Sure, I make fun of the story a lot, but even at that it feels better than most official pokemon games (and Im looking at you, XY).

Also, this difficulty is something I like to experience. I know most of us meme about this, but I really feel that it has only been getting easier and easier (didn't play Sun Moon yet, sorry if what I say doesnt match the game's difficult, still waiting for it to arrive). So, Reborn was something I really liked.

Maybe, I dunno, it's because it has only been rainbows and things like that in all pokemon games so far, so when I got to Reborn, even witha ll thsoe flaws I ended up liking the game. Specially this feeling of hard-earned victories you get after the Gym battles in it.
>>
>>30802548
I love the hard-earned feeling of a Gym Leader killing himself after I earned his badge fair and square.
>>
>>30802584
Yeah, that was a pain. First time I actually liked the twist even though it felt far-fetched to an extent, but second time it felt really, really forced.

Game has its flaws and there are a lot of it. Feels like an edgy tumblr fanfic after some time, though I have to admit I loved that dark atmosphere. Guess it's just a personal taste though
>>
>>30801868
I create an event that is activated by pressing a button while facing it (you know, like talking to a person), then make it activate a script that sets the debug flag to true.

Sure, it works only for this session but it's less of a hassle than using your method in a way that doesn't crash the game.

So is the next update going to be more story or less story because devs have to add everything from Generation VII? considering that there's eight Alola mons on my Top 25 list, they better do that fast
>>
Gym Leader with fields were a mistake.

Not fields themselves, giving Gym Leader fields.

In Rejuvenation which is basically cousin to Reborn, Fire-type Leader was a fucking bitch to the point that I backtracked like 4 Badges back just to get Rain Dance to destroy her field. My team was getting rekt'd like it's nobody's business before.

The Water-type Leader? Well, let's just say that Jan actually acknowledged Valerie to be a broken piece of bitch and nerfed her ass and her field.
>>
>>30802746
I dunno, at least in the first part of the game those fields are fair. You are at least used to them beforehand and most of them have something you can do to alter it, or use it to your advantage.

Problem is that in Rejuvenation, on the other hand, none of that happens. Most fields are unfair or disbalanced, and are only there when you are going to fight a gym or a boss.

I still prefer Rejuvenation over Reborn though.
>>
>>30802821
Holy fuck, what would make you prefer Rejuvenation to Reborn? It's like Reborn minus the charm and a lot of the good ideas. And the flaws are even worse, I'm not going to complain about a Reborn character too much when Melia Sue, Venam, Saki and whoever the living abortion fire girl is exists.

>>30802706
So you just edit the whole game in RMXP? Interesting.

>>30802548
You'll like SM, I know I did. And XY was really a mistake.
>>
>>30803055
>what would make you prefer Rejuvenation to Reborn
I dunno, man. I mean, I know what you are meaning, but it's like Rejuvenation has more of an adventure feel to it and I like that. It's kind like... I dunno, feels more like an anime and I like the whole prophecy stuff and then there was time travel.

It just happened to have more stuff I liked in it. Though I do agree the author lacks a lot in the originality department. A lot of stuff is copy-paste from Reborn and shit.
>>
>>30802706
Wouldn't it just be easier to inject through RPGXP at that point?

I really don't like those elements, feels like lazy writing. What I do like about Rejuvenation are the optional areas. Jan actually has talent as a mapper and world designer, but I don't know how retarded his other faculties must be to think the quartet of bitches are in any way acceptable characters.

And how the fuck do you write a scene intended to be heartwrenching for the player, watching their mother die right before their eyes, only to suddeny; think it would be a great idea to shoehorn an anime reference in front of it?
>>
>>30803464
Serious, overly Japanese motifs written by weebs ruin the mood for me.
>>
>>30804323
Weebs are truly the worst, because they often fail to understand the meaning and method of a lot of elements they see and think slapping on a cool Japanese name works.
>>
>>30802655
I unironically like the atmosphere of the shithole city, that alone could have told a decent story. And then they had to throw in a suicide and things got worse.
>>
>>30803464
Yeah, the katana thing really was a mood killer. And I was liking how things were developing at that scene. Thrown outta the roof, esper girl I forgot the name arrived in last second to save us, then the enemy goes in for the kill and... that.

Jan really has a lot to grow in the writing department, but when I checked some playthroughs and they were in earlier versions, I'm glad at least he hears the criticism instead of outrightly ignoring it like most people. Like, you know, that guy, the one from Symphonic Horizon.

Luckily Jan keeps hearing it/altering it. Episode 9 will revamp a bunch of stuff. I just hope it isn't like Reborn's 16 that added little due to all revamps. Yes, I'm including all the sidequests in it. I felt the episode was rather small, though it was nice seeing how the city became now.
