If there's one surefire way to sell a gorrilion copies of a Pokemon game its to make those Pokemon games sequels to Red and fucking Blue.

Just slap Charizard and Blastoise on the covers and it would sell better than water in the Sahara desert. Put Pokemon Red 2 and Pokemon Blue 2 on the Switch and Nintendo is pretty much guaranteed to sell the Switch like hotcakes.

This could backfire a bit.

Everyone might just remember their own taste of Ash's failure and how the anime basically told them to fuck off while soft resetting for new fans each generation. They must be really betting on the power of nostalgia overriding the bad memories.

Not to mention the sudden season and art shift might confuse the latest batch of kids.

Lastly, considering how popular Lillie is they really fucked up on not capitalizing on that. Can't really blame them though considering this movie was in production before she was even revealed.

Although I feel like something big will definitely happen. They wouldn't just make a old boring retelling of Ash's adventure in movie form, there's got to be more to it. It's the 20th anniversary, for crying out loud.

I don't really fancy the Kanto pandering and it definitely showed its colors particularly in this gen, but one thing I'm left wondering is, how are they going to present this alongside the new Sun/Moon anime? Putting these together makes them both clash together and seem like two entirely different things. Are they going to make a single connection between Kanto and Alola or the Alolan forms? Is this just Ash really only getting his chance to meet Ho-Oh?

Because when you think about it, Ash never really met Ho-Oh, he only encountered it and saw him flying away. This might, miiiight actually be a behind-the-scenes telling of Ash actually having indeed met Ho-Oh at one point.
