I mean, the fire typing I get. Alola's filled to the brim with grass types. It'd make sense that they'd drop their ground typing in favor fire to better survive. But Ghost? Where's the did that come from?
(And don't you fucking bring up the 'Cubone wears the skull of its dead mother' argument. That shit is a legend started by some scientist fuck who went, "Huh. I wonder why that thing is wearing a skull. Welp, must be the head of its dead mother, hurr durr durr!" And he put that shit into the Pokédex and tricked millions of trainers.)

The website says it got fire/ghost typing to ward off its natural predator, which the site doesn't specify, on Alola. People came up with a pretty good theory that it was Bewear, who just wants to hug lonely cubone.
The pokedex actually says the predator is Mandibuzz, which doesn't make sense at all.

The relation to Mandibuzz probably came after the adaptation to Ghost/Fire. Flying has a slight advantage over Ground types but now parent Marowaks can't do anything against Mandibuzz
