>>30774912
Actually I'm assuming it's the Anger Point variant from VGC 15. Smeargle uses Frost Breath/Storm Throw on it, instant +6 Attack and usually holds a Kee Berry to boost defense.
>>
Snorlax seems underrated.
Good movepool and retarded bulk because gluttony figy berry is essentially eviolite.
>>
>>30770571
>Assault Vest Kartana

but why
>>
>>30774514
>>30774554
Bulky support ghost and lack of Knock off users, long as you're not stupid enough to leave it on against A-Muk, Hariyama or Machamp who are literally the ONLY Knock Off users you will ever see in this whole meta. A total of only 3 things to be scared of is pretty good.

Eviolite Misdreavus is deceptively bulky and can take a serious amount of punishment without being ass slow. Most people might've not noticed but Aloladex is complete ass for choice of ghosts. It's basically just A-Marowak, Gengar and Froslass, all the others either have a severe lack of moves or super common weakness, low speed with no payoff.

Also has a great support movepool in Trick Room, Imprison, WoW, Taunt, Perish Song etc. and after the new year is one of the only things in this whole meta who learns Skill Swap.

Seeing that team actually has a Politoed it is likely actually a Perish Song variation as you commonly saw the combination of Ghost + Politoed and Perish Song in previous gens as far back as 5.
>>
>>30775274
Especially since Fighting mons are pretty much absent aside from those few absolute madmen using Hariyama.
>>
>>30775851
Because even a resisted Thunderbolt from Koko kills the thing in one hit, it's s.def is that retardedly bad, fucking hell even a 0 s.atk Ribombee can OHKO it with Bug Buzz/Pollen Puff. If the 'xx kills xx with Ember' meme ever applied probably then this is a legit case.

Assault Vest at least lets it survive some weaker special attackers with a bit of health to spare instead of relying on Focus Sash all the time and getting picked off. It's not like the thing does anything else besides spam Leaf Blade/Smart Strike.

> Mudsdale

Everytime I see this mon being used, or being used against me on Showdown it gets blown to shit. Why are people using it so much? am I missing something?

The meta seems heavily special based too, so I don't get why people like it so much. I had one on my ingame team, and it was a fucking bro. But I don't see how it holds up in a competitive manner.
>>
>>30775274
Having actually used it, Snorlax's problem is move coverage and the usual speed. You go for a full tank Snorlax and it has problems dealing damage and certain things wall it hard. Run one move to cover Steel/Rock types (Celesteela etc.) and you get killed by Marowak, run something to kill Marowak and the vice versa happens.

It also has to navigate the same problems every physical sweeper does in Burns, Intimidate whilst having none of the support moves to make itself useful when gimped.

>>30775145
Mismagius isn't fast or strong enough despite being a fast mon, 60/60 defenses is awful when all you have to show for it is 105 s.atk/speed and no secondary STAB. Froslass is faster and bulkier than it whilst Gengar is faster and stronger than it with the same bulk.

Haunter isn't viable at all, just don't bother.

Smeargle follows me and redirects all taunts to himself. Taunt doesn't work. Not even prankster taunt works because follow me has an even higher priority than that. Don't give advice if you don't know what you are talking about.

>>30774452
The real way to beat it is to quickly kill smeargle in the first turn to get rid of Follow Me. Let Eevee do his extreme evoboost and let him baton pass on the 2nd turn. You know the slot that is going to get the baton pass and you know what is likely going to be baton-passed to, so just double target that slot, which can't protect or do any tricks to avoid the double target. There you won. As long as you can kill a +2 special defense +2 defense tapu lele with 2 pokemon (not hard, 70 base HP), then you won the game. Sometimes they pass to an arcanine because of intimidate and snarl, then the tapu lele psychs up later, so it helps to open with 2 strong special attackers or something else that resists intimidation.

Trying to stop a gimmick from setting up its goal is almost impossible because the entire team is built around setting up the gimmick. He spent 3+ of his pokemon dedicated to making sure the gimmick gets up, whereas you spent, at best, 1 move on 1 pokemon to make sure his gimmick doesn't get up; he has the obvious advantage and has almost all possibilities accounted for. Trust me I've done the "math" on this subject and the best you can do is force a 50/50 situation on your opponent where the opponent can either fake out or follow me and if you predict correctly you win, and if you predict incorrectly you just lose. That's not a situation you want to be in. Don't try to compete with the gimmick; it's better to just assume he will get his gimmick up and play from there. I would rather have a 90% chance to win by double targeting the baton pass slot than have a 50% chance to win by changing my whole team to have 2 taunters and open with double taunt.
>>
>>30779376
I don't quite understand that Mimikyu set and what you're trying to go for with it. Mimikyu offers so much to the table offensively that going for a support set with Trick Room is a pretty bad idea. You have a ton of split defense investment with no Hp, so your bulk doesn't mean jack, and you're going full speed with a priority move and the lowest priority set-up move in the game. The +speed is only going to hurt you in your own trick room, even. A Swords Dance set with attack and speed investment, plus either red card or lum berry for the burns, gives you far more bang for your buck.

You also have two max speed pokemon while trying to run trick room?

You have like 4 pokemon who die in one shot to earthquake and only Celesteela to counter it. If you want to run both toge and Nihilego, I would suggest Tapu Bulu to curb the Eq damage.

Life orb Nihilego and Banded Weavile are not the best things to run for an offensive core, either.

I am having the same problem and don't know why. All the variety this season is leaving me stumped. I can't pick even pick a single team member or two to start with. Although teams like Wolfe's/2nd place in >>30774444 look about as close to teams I'd like to use as any.
>>
>>30787156
Make that 1st place, although I do also love gimmick teams and 2nd place is great too
>>
>>30787156
I really dislike gimmicky teams like that.

Personally I'm a weatherfag, I can count with one hand the teams I've made without weather and the lack of weather abusers while having perfectly good setters this year really annoys me.

I'm not finding this season to be varied at all desu. The amount of options is pitiful, say what you want about Kalosmons but they at least varied, some were fast, some were bulky, some were slow, etc. 95% of Alolamons are slow frail pieces of shit with barren movepools missing one critical move, it's very bothersome, and that we are getting into stallwars on the very first events says a ton about the format already.

Tapus are worse than genies too, you can do without them, here, you are nearly obligated to have a Tapu one way or another. I specially fucking hate Koko and it's retarded ass 130 base speed.
>>

I got 2nd at an 84-man event with an Eevee team and I can tell you that you're hilariously wrong, your gameplan is stopped by Fake Out.

There is a 100% way to win. Just lead with:

- slower double target user that knows whirlwind/roar

Haze/Screens Tapu Fini also shits on the entire strategy

Anyone with half a brain could have easily deciphered these. Fake Out stops one mon from damaging Smeargle, so Sash is still intact and a Follow Me can be used the next turn. And faster and slower are obviously in relation to each other.

Please stop trying so hard to defend yourself anon, I feel embarassed for you. You are the reason why nobody here takes burgers seriously.

>Fake Out stops one mon from damaging Smeargle, so Sash is still intact and a Follow Me can be used the next turn. And faster and slower are obviously in relation to each other.
You're being obscure and I'm not even the guy you're talking to.

His solution still stands. If you have something like garchomp + celesteela opening, you use garchomp earthquake and heavy slam onto smeargle. Smeargle at best can survive 1 turn.
The next turn you do the same thing to the opposite slot.
Garchomp goes before celesteela and uses earthquake, which kills smeargle, celesteela becomes free of the "Follow Me" and attacks the incoming baton pass slot.
The baton pass slot most likely dies or suffers heavy enough damage that it will die the next turn because it should take both the earthquake damage and the heavy slam damage.
Eevee passes before garchomp can move so the incoming slot will suffer both. Then your strat is dead in the water.

You do realize that it doesn't matter, and you can still easily kill a +2 Tapu Lele anyway.

You also realize that the other best alternative would be Arcanine who takes heavy damage from earthquake, or

Espeon who still takes high damage from heavy slam even with +2 defenses,

right?

Are YOU really this bad at pokemon?

Yes there are ways to play around, but at the end of the day I know exactly what slot you are baton passing to and I can double target it, while you can't protect.
Any strategy that boxes you into a 100% guaranteed prediction that is wide open to any double targeting is pretty easy to defeat by, simply... well, double targeting.

You're sad, you obviously tunnel visioned

You know what? I don't have time for this. How about you actually make a flowchart like I did, assuming a Smeargle moveset of:
Fake Out
Follow Me
Wide Guard
Spiky Shield
And show us a 100% solution that isn't using:
+2 boosting moves/DDance/Quiver Dance/Shell Smash
Whirlwind/Roar with the speed criteria like I stated previously
Haze
I'd be thoroughly impressed and admit I'm wrong.

Conversely, for pro-eevee fags, "But m-muh spore! M-muh taunt!" If they're running any one of these, then they're not running any one of the above. VGC events, even PCs are mostly Bo3 now, so use that information to beat the damn (honestly dogshit) team. Unless you're in a shitty region like Australia. Sucks to be you.

That Smeargle is dead weight unless someone is kind enough to Trick the scarf.
At that point he could run any other Anger Point enabler and make it useful at least. Or give the Smeargle Trick so after a switch it can cripple someone.
Also why Storm Throw and not Frost Breath? It hurts Tauros much less. He didn't even give Smeargle -Atk nature.

I would like some advice on how to finish/fix my team. These Pokémon all have synergy together, but I'm not too skilled at making sets, so this is what I have.

http://pastebin.com/vVnsBLsa

Bulu Koko and Raichu all have synergy, Bulu protects both of them from earthquakes, Raichu gets a boon from surge surfer.

Arcanine and Muk are also granted protection from earthquakes

Koko Gastrodon and Arcanine have synergy as well. Storm drain keeps Arcanine safe from water moves and Koko can spam discharge without any fear of hurting gastrodon. Not to mention Arcanine and Muk also takes care of Gastrodon's biggest weakness, grass types.

The main thing I don't like about Celesteela is that I feel like Electric is the only option to deal with it.

I can't risk trying to use Fire when the opponent might bring Pelipper. I also don't have room for counter-weather on my team, and that would be a much clunkier solution than just running Electric anyway. It's a very centralizing pokemon because you NEED Electric moves on your team to deal with it or you just lose.

I'm a bug pokemon fan. What's the best bug pokemon right now? They seem pretty shit because of all the god damned fairies roaming around.
I like Scizor a lot but Lele scares me with psychic terrain.

Scolipede
252+ Atk Life Orb Scolipede Poison Jab vs. 0 HP / 252 Def Tapu Lele: 296-351 (105.3 - 124.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Even with invested EVs on defense (which no one does) it's a guaranteed OHKO.
It's fast and has a great donut. would use.
>>
>>30809813
Scolipede is not legal in VGC 2017 ^_^#
>>
>>30809837
Oh shit i thought it was an island scan mon.
Darn, and he's my bro too...
>>
>>30809856
It is an island scan pokemon, that is the problem :) It is not in the pokedex O_o
>>
>>30809773
Does he put a filter on his videos? Why does it look better than my new 3ds?
>>
>>30810031
He downloaded a borderless sprites patch I think. Notice the pokemon don't have a dark black line around them.

Gf bamboozled me again.

Why doesn't game freak ditch that then? Cause it looks surprisingly good.

Bordered pokemon probably reads better on a small screen

>split defensive investment with no hp bulk on a non-defensive pokemon
>perfectly fine
Sure, yup, you know what you're talking about, anon. How's that degree from Smogon University treating you?

>>30806344
Either commit to TR or don't. There's better TR setters than Mimikyu, but if you prefer to us it, build around it. You have like two possible teams here, but they don't synergize well leaving you with only option A or B, instead of A, B, C, or D.
>>
>>30810424
>not understanding semi-TR

Stop giving advice. You are gay and wrong. TR does not need to be a full team investment. This is VGC not smogon, fag. You bring 4 not 6. You don't need to bring TR if you don't want to, and Marowak functions perfectly fine outside of TR and is also a fucking monster within it.
>>
What should I run on Salamence?
>>
So to make a team, I should start with making a core and building off of that, right?

So say, if my core were to be...Bulu/Arcanine, what would I need to add? Muk, Gastrodon, ??? ???
>>
>>30810424
>Either commit to TR or don't.

What? Committing to TR(or to any strat really) is the best way to ensure people are going to pick your shit apart. The whole point of having a mix of fast mons with TR/Slow mons is that you can go into TR when your opponent has faster shit. I might not be explaining it correctly here. But what I mean is you should never overly commit to one strat. Like >>30810564 said. Marowak is a good example. It can do just fine outside of TR but in it it's a rape train. Or take Porygon2 itself. Can function more than fine outside of TR, but can turn it on if you need it, or if you see the opponent trying to speed control you.

I have had people trying to set up tailwinds and shit like that, only to actually give ME the speed win because I read it and set up TR. Now his faster mons, which were slower than my mons got fucked over by his own form of speed control JUST because I kept the option open in my team.

How does Pelipper/Koko core sound, followed by Togedemaru and Gyarados along with it?

No idea for the last two unfortunately.

What is the go to nature for Tapu Koko? I am thinking Timid for special set or Adamant for a physical variant.

Fuck.

Should I run mudsdale?

Marowak has a ground type move :) and redirects electric attacks <(0_0)>

How do I get good at team building?

Why is clefairy not being used? It was popular in previous formats due to friend guard and great support moves.

Is it because there is no ridiculous attacker than can clear an entire game by itself and only needs friend guard + helping hand to do so? There isn't like a mega kangaskahn anymore.
>>
>>30818857
Helping Hand isn't legal on Clefairy since there is no way to get it on a Gen 7 Clefairy yet.
>>
>>30818857
It can't HH anymore.
And Celesteela's Heavy Slam too.

How come no one uses Machamp?
>>
How do I into Araquanid?
I want to use it, but Liquidation and Wide Guard seem like the only things it's good for. I guess Soak could be fun, but I think Lanturn would be better for that.

I can't decide between using Gyarados, Milotic, and Pelipper

Both Gyarados and Pelipper have some speed control but yet they have limited offensive capabilities. Milotic can do some damage with Scald and Ice Beam but it's only speed control is Icy Wind and there's no legal way for it to know it now.
>>
>>30819562
Only use Pelipper if you are, in some way, benefitting from the weather. I've been using it for weeks but its stats are so awful that it'll probably be the frailest, weakest and slowest thing on your whole team, no matter how you EV it.
Gyarados and Milotic are both better to just slot into a team as your token water-type. I guess it depends what opponents you fear more.
>>
>>30819562
Well, what's the rest of your team?
>>
>>30819866
Tapu Koko
Celesteela
Garchomp
Marowak

Still deciding on the 6th
>>
>>30820038
may as well go porygon or salamance bro

I've been wanting to get a Multiscale Dragonite for years, so I finally chained for one tonight. This is the moveset I'm thinking of using, but I can't decide between Roost and Aqua Tail. On one hand, Roost let's me get Multiscale back up. On the other, Aqua Tail works better against Marowak, Arcanine, and Mudbray (among others). EVs let it outspeed max speed investment base 130 after one DD (though I'm considering switching them to SpD because of Ice Beam and Dazzling Gleam).

Dragonite @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Multiscale
Level: 50
EVs: 68 HP / 252 Atk / 188 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Roost / Aqua Tail
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch

i'm a retarded babby when it comes to VGC and wanted to try it with one of my favourite gimmicks trick room

but i don't really know what i'm doing so i'm just making a lot of guesses as to what would work, anyone got some advice for things to change?
http://hastebin.com/gekokuwuje.diff

i tried carracosta some and, while effective at times, seemed a bit too situational to work anywhere near reliably

I've seen it with stuff like Lunge wich can be a pain in the ass. It's has nice bulk by itself too.

Now if you want to meme you could use Entrainment to Water Bubble a partner.
