His naming concept is probably one of the best out of all of the characters in game. It even has a double meaning. He's pretty so so other wise. A bit too similar to Clemont. He's at least a title challenger so there's that.
I don't know how to feel about his togademaru being pikachu's new waifu in the anime.

The plant is called Sophora chrysophylla, or mamame. His name is Chris in other languages, confirming this. The plant is found in dry forest, where it grows stout and shrubby. The mountain that has the observatory in Hawaii is one of the few places it grows in a somewhat healthy habitat. It's the last tree before the place turns into alpine desert. The plant also has the Hawaiian word for paralysis in it due to the fact that it's sometimes found surrounded by dead birds. The seeds are extremely poisonous and kill most birds within minutes. e.g. type advantages. The only things that can eat the seeds without dying are a yellow honey creeper called the palila, and certain caterpillars. The honey creeper might possibly, slightly, be what Oricorio yellow is based on.

Good in-game, because his personality matches his outfit - he's only seen working in his room with inventions, isn't seen talking to anyone, and doesn't even want to go through the rigmarole of being a trial guardian. It's completely expected that he'd look like a fat nerd.

It doesn't work so well in the anime, where they want him to be the typical kid genius instead.
