desu every TCG is a broken mess, Pokemon is actually one of the less broken ones. At least it isn't determined by a coinflip because whoever goes second literally cannot play, like in Yugioh's meta at the moment.

We already have the TCGO and it's fucking awful.

I haven't played in about a year but I'll assume it still has the same problems. At this point they need to either do a full reboot(and never make EXs) or make a spiritual successor to Broken Time-Space that can't be used by EX or whatever gimmick they make.

The ex meta back in the day of Gen 3 was healthier than the EX meta we've just been through.

GX ironically hearkens back to ex more than EX did (...). You're still gonna have overpowered basics, but they're not gonna be comparable to a fully evolved Stage 2 counterpart. So evolutions become favourable again.

The BREAK mechanic they tried to come up with to compete with EXs literally made evolution even less favourable since it was just an extra stage. Ridiculous.
