You want the truth? I"ll tell you:

Masked Royal is Kukui's twin brother, Kikui. That's why one has Midday Lycanroc and the other has Midnight.
Kukui gets annoyed when comparisons are brought up because he didn't approve of his brother becoming a wrestler. He's too embarrassed to just tell people what's going on.
By the end of the game he's reconciled with Kikui and accepted his brother for who he is, hence the mask in the credits.

Sorry to the cuckold fetishists, but Kikui would never do that shit. Actually, he's interested in Olivia but is too nervous to ask her out. He's never been good at handling romance, not to mention the possibility of invoking Lele-chan's wrath (don't ask) if she doesn't approve of him.
