You can say that about over half the Aloladex and Gummy's on the low end there.

Trick room still works in singles especially with stall teams or tanky heavy hitters.

Of course it works. It just makes playing through the game take much longer and your Pokemon take more hits. It also doesn't help Gumshoos much with 80/60/60 bulk if you have to switch it in.

Gumshoos, definitely. I gave him the Quick Claw as soon as I got it. That helped a bit. It was a risk but I was able to use him all the way through the game.

I so wanted to use Gumshoos in-game, but even with a great Nature, it just sucked too bad. I ended up boxing it somewhere around level 25.
