Gonna have to agree. Deadleafdueye and Tigerthedark are some of the best starters ever but they managed to make the first actually bad Water Starter. Empoleon would be disappointed.

Gen III and Gen IV come close, but this is the best trio overall.
Gen III Fire starter, Blaziken, has really shit hair. Makes it look overdesigned, but it is still solid. Swampert is also a bit weird looking, but still bro-tier.
Gen IV had questionable middle stages. Monferno and Prinplup don't look too good.
